To hear this performed live was so incredible. The fact is that Passengers: Original Soundtracks 1 is a little-known U2 project that has not had much exposure. I was really disappointed in the crowds response. That hauntingly beautiful voice you hear, backing Bono, is a pre-recording of Sinéad O'Connor. I hope they reintroduce it for the 2011 tour. I'll be seeing them in Montreal.
I saw them four times in 3 cities last fall and this performance right here was the absolute highlight no question. I knew they were rehearsing it and knew they played it in Chicago but still I thought it was gonna fall flat. Just didn't' seem like concert type song but I was blown away. Stunned really at how emotional and powerful it was. I hope they bring it back on the next leg.
this show was the 28 th time i seen the band live and i had to pull my Bvlgari's off with respect to here such a obscure song from them being played live.... cant wait till summer 2010 to see the boys a few more times...
haha nice. I'm half way to your total. Only seen'em 14 times total. I'd love to hear this again. They should bust it out in Europe next time. I have a feeling the crowds over there would appreciate it more. For selfish reasons maybe they coudl pay it in Athens or/and Seville ;-)
they even could have done a "different kind of Blue"!!! gotta see some joshua b sides turn up like walk to the water or even Wave of sorrow all the way
This was such a treat for the real hard core fans who know have the passanger's album and know and love this song.
I was very excited they played it. I was just on the other side of the bridge and made some solid eye contact with Bono while he was singing this. I can't think of a better song to have bono look at you during. ughh wow amazing.
Actually I was so glad people didn't care for the song because people's way of showing gratitude is obnoxious in concerts and always involves behavior that interferes with me seeing (waving arms and cameras like ADD sufferers) and hearing (singing loudly so I can't hear Bono). So, I'm happy the idiots didn't like Your Blue Room, Unforgettable Fire, and Ultraviolet. My favorite moments not just because they're great songs, but I could actually enjoy myself.
Why don't YOU wait for the DVD. Think about it. This is a once in a lifetime performance. Shouldn't everyone be able to enjoy it? This huge tall guy behind me had no trouble seeing, but he insisted on blocking the people behind him by holding up his camera the whole show. How is that fair?
Love the ADD comment xD--I think the people that gave this thumbs down ARE those people who ruin the performances for others. I saw this in Chicago--it was pretty unexpected, and many went off for the beer and bathroom! I'm glad it got quiet! Thumb up!
Thanks very much. If we all speak up (even though it's intimidating) we can make it quiet and visible enough during the songs so we can all enjoy things equally. Keep up the fight!
I totally freaked out as soon as I heard the opening chords for this song.
I hated how everyone in my section essentially stopped paying attention as soon as the song started. They seemed utterly indifferent to this beautiful, deep track. Granted, it's an obscure song, but the applause at the end of the song was lukewarm.
It deserved a better response than it got. The band dropped the song for the second TO performance, and I fear for its longevity on the setlist. :(
Agreed. Too many bellweather fans in the audience and U2 doesn't help by being cowardly about it. Like I really needed to hear New Year's Day AGAIN. Loved "Your Blue Room".
Agreed x2. I was in awe that they played the song, and really REALLY wish that I had recorded it! I especially liked the new backing vocals. It was brilliantly nuanced and definitely created the intimacy on a grand scale they were looking for.
@Droorogers that is because most people just want to here Pride and Streets and crap like that. It is a shame like you said that people dont respond to an obscure song from the best band in the world. I would like to see a full show with obscure material that they dont play. Could you imagine Hawkmoon, I threw a brick, Seconds and other material that has been lost in the live material.

I'm so sad it wasn't filmed for the DVD. I wanted to know what those extra lyrics Bono was singing were.
