I don't understand why all you people keep complaining about the music. It's actually a really good song. Besides, seeing as how the picture was inspired by the song, wouldn't complaining about the song be saying that the inspiration was "boring" or "it sucked"? What would that be saying about the picture itself? You guys need to get past your terrible taste in music and pay attention to amazing talent and what inspires it.

with black paper and overblending, you are losing - or smooshing into the paper - all the qualities that make pastels so vibrant and glowing and so full of light. These techniques should be for painting gloomy cemeteries and haunted houses. Think of it as eyeshadow - you put all that beautiful color on the eyelids, and then what? take your fingers and rub it all together till it looks like mud? Yuk.

Actually, this is a great example of erasing and making changes as you work in pastel. The artist does it several times during this video. Pastel work can be very exploratory and if you change your mind you can erase and go in a different direction.
