hey, that's my VW @ 2:45 and so on ... ;-) ... and it would've been better if Jimmy woke up there as well and began playing ... instead of driving up in a convertible ...
i love buffets music, ive been listening to it since i was younger about 8 or so. I'm only 21 now but everyone my age makes fun of me for it. I love being on a boat blasting jimmy buffet fishing and drinking a few :) great summer day
Conch Cottage, the summer of all summers spent w/ Miss C. Dull and a silent conversation had. She took my hand over Snake Creek Bridge on the way back from Jacksonville in the Bronco before I left on 1st Ritptide.
Villa 6001 and a White Chinese Hibiscus picked at the entrance of Hawks Cay, the morning after our first date when I could not find words.
I regret alot of it, but I never forgot that moment, not even for a second.
I know this is a bold statement, but I would almost say that JB is a better novelist than a musician.......I know I know, but "A Salty Piece of land" and "Where is Joe Merchant" are as incredible as this song IMHO.
This is the first time I have ever heard this song.I am a fan of Jimmy but there are many of his songs with which I am not familiar. It seems however whenever I hear one that I had not heard before I always like it. Jimmy is very talented song writer
From "Off To See The Lizard "which in my opinion is one of Jimmy's finest and most underated albums. This song and album always puts me right there on the overseas highway on the way to the keys, which is where this great album was the soundtrack to my second trip there. As I type this, Jimmy is recovering from his fall off a stage in Australia and is doing fine..and I can't wait to hear the funny song he writes about that. We love ya Jimmy, be careful out there!
Unfortunately this song is reflective on what is going on with my father right now. He is homeless and becoming more and more distant and eventually he will disappear. Nonetheless the song does remind me of what it's like to dissappear whenever I read a book or watch a movie and just relax.
One of my favorite tunes from JB. He may not have won hardly any awards but who cares? Little statues based on who can sell the most for record companies can never substitute for real talent which is something Jimmy has boat loads of. =)
If you have not read Tales from Margarittaville, you are missing out on some great reading. I've read that book four times. His album, Off to See the Lizard, are the songs that go with the book. If you are a "Parrot head"...it's a must! It is one of the funnest books I've ever read! Read it, and you'll be in complete agreement with me! I've given the book and cd as birthday gifts and Christmas presents and was told it was one of the best gifts they ever received!
CIRCA 1990's Key West Drive In Theater (Stock Island) was the Set for this Music video by Jimmy Buffett performing Take Another Road. (C) 1989 Geffen Records
This video and the video for the song "Fruitcakes" were the two best that Jimmy had produced for his music.
This song, however, is one of his very best. If you ever read the book that came out at the same time as the album that this song is from, then the song will have a whole lot more meaning to you. There is a matching chapter in the book that Buffett wrote that goes hand in hand with the song.
@SunsetConductor I've read Tales from Margarittaville four times, and his album, Off to See the Lizard is awesome! I've given the two together as birthday gifts and Christmas gifts, and was told it was one of the best gifts they ever recieved. I read the book first and totally was head over heals about it, and about a month later, I found Off to See the Lizard, and that really painted a bigger mental picture/images of the story and made it even more incredible!
@Jacobrester - He also brings back the magic of childhood; the open mind, the adventurous spirit! Whenever I need an escape from Utah, I go to the Keys with Jimmy...
Every now and then you've got to take another road to island time...
