  • I would give one nut and everything i own to somehow be able to have such a powerfull voice like Eric Adams and able to sing like he does, this is insanely fucking good, easily compared to singers like Dio and Rob Halford and the likes. :I

  • THIS VIDEO HAS 71,000 HITS BECAUSE I LISTENED TO IT 50.000 TIMES !!!! ALL BITCHES AND FAKES BOW DOWN TO THIS AWSOME MUSIC AND SUCK MINE AND MANOWAR'S COCK!!!! HAIL N KILL!!!!

  • seems like the songs from this album are longer than newer albums

  • What makes me sad is that songs like these have 65k views and new songs of Manowar have millions of views. Its so unfair. These songs defined the pinnacle of epic metal. New sogs are just a bittersweet shadow of these old tall peaks.

  • @Crigito This is a hidden gem...the whole album is too. This was when Eric could sing. The new Manowar songs where he does more yelling then singing are not that good.

  • Eric Adams Rules. That´s the point.

  • one of the most epic manowar songs ever makes mse want to pull out a broadswoard and slay some barbarians hail from Brookkyn

  • What a voice Eric had in 1983! Truly operatic in its combination of power, purity and range. Fabulous vocals! Thanks a lot for posting!

  • great album. the best one!

  • Hail Manowar!

  • just so metal

  • It's really unfortunate that Manowar can't write music like this anymore...this is sooooo much better than their recent stuff

  • @VitalSigns1

Well, I disagree. They just moved on to another awesome sound !

  • @MyHonorQuest They've dumbed down their musicianship more and more as their careers moved on. Their most recent material has little passion or inspiration in it....it sounds like a band that has run out of steam. I don't blame them for that; I think that nature takes it's toll on the best of us, meaning old age. When I listen to this song I hear pure musicianship, 100% from the heart...now they play very unexciting and simplistic stuff

  • @VitalSigns1 I agree with you. But now that I'm 35 I can say that they gave me all that i needed in my youngness.

  • @firstdance2 I just really hope the new album lives up to my expectations. Their latest EP was a return to their signature sound; now I'm glad that they're keeping it just as an EP and writing brand new material with Donnie. He's a very good drummer, actually he's much better than Scott (RIP). Karl is an outstanding lead player, but I worry that he's not very talented when it comes to writing. That department is going to have to lie with Joey.

  • @VitalSigns1 I see what you mean, but I have to say Gods Of War is a complete exception.

It may be played with a little less pressure than let's say Fighting the World (altough I don't think so to be completely honest), but you can't tell me it's inferior musicianship, seriously.

But I agree that this song, Secret of Steel, may be one of their best, most excellent of all time.

It resonates within my heart and mind and makes my mood change into the stuff true Metal is made of.

  • @Skullchaser08 My main problem with GOW (speaking as a metalhead) was the lack of guitar driven material. My heart and mind always takes me to a certain place where I DEMAND guitar oriented stuff, but that's just me. I like classical music but to a much lesser degree. I'm one of the Manowar fan who prefers the faster more intense stuff like Wheels of Fire, Ride the Dragon, Violence and Bloodshed, The Power, etc. Songs like that. That's just where my heart lies.

  • @VitalSigns1 I feel not entirely the same, just similar, but I see you speak true and reasonable.

Personal preference is beyond critique, and I respect that.

    Hail, brother in metal.

  • Hail Manowar! Classic Heavy Metal!

  • hail from belgum

  • my! 28 years have passed. It ain't a secret anymore.

  • thanks man

  • ...Know in your heart but never reveal...

  • RIP Scott, a true brother of metal.

  • hail from the most vile land of america, very few warriors know honor here let alone the secret of steel. this album changed my life many years ago!

  • "into Glory ride" is the best Manowar's album 4 me. This song fills my heart with power whenever i listen to it. Just supreme. The most epic and heavy song of the world. "Rise, know the strength that you feel, you are called by the Gods their powers to wield", this is the ancient secret of steel

  • 2 people couldn't figure out the secret of steel

  • - however then new steel making techniques coming from India (who knew that?) spread by Arabs (remember the famous Damascus swords, also copied by Byzantines who apparenty got their hands on the secret) and then increasingly by 13th century blast furnaces become widespread permitting the better processing of iron into steel. Steel though, initially canons were bronze ones as "steel" ones cracked. One needs to understand that standardised true steel was finally made in the industrial era.

  • Contrary to common belief that "real steel swords" (i.e. in reality outer layers being steel) were developed only by medieval Japanese or Arabs or Frankish knights, the most early known sample of a"real steel object" is a steel knife found in Cyprus dating to 13-14th century B.C. The knife was made out of successive layers of steel with the technician using clearly the well known technique of adding layers of steel on the tool.

  • @notgodsemigod However as that technique was expensive and was not guarantiing quality (often the result would be a hard brittle outer layer that would make the weapon quite fragile) ancient armies preferred to continue to use bronze. Steel like iron was used only for the consumables (spearheads - where you need iron's strength but if it breaks well, no big deal... etc.) while bronze (not your common bronze) was used for swords, helmets and shields. Bronze's quality was predictable.

  • @notgodsemigod It is characteristic that ancient Greeks who armed themselves (and as such tended to opt for high quality weaponry) preferred bronze and used iron only for spearheads and only occasionally swords all while Romans who were paying mercenary armies armed them mainly with iron weapons - and no matter if these were made on improved techniques based on celtic smiths (specialists of ironmaking), it was known that officers still wore bronze material (both helmets and cuirasses).

  • @notgodsemigod the use of iron became universal in early middle ages mostly due to the fact that tin and copper used to make bronze had stated becoming scarce while iron was more readily available - however still till the times of the Arab conquests still aristocrat officers of the Byzantine army or the Chinese Imperial army preferred bronze for much of their material

  • Observe ton corps, le désir dans ton coeur, je t'ai offert cette force, quant en tu fait?

    Quel gachie!

  • Steel isn't strong, boy. Flesh is stronger. What is a sword compared to the hand that wields it? That is strength, boy, that is power, the strength and power of flesh. Look at the strength in your body, the desire in your heart! I gave you this.

  • Do they have other songs like this?

  • still their best song... !!!

  • Steel is formed from adding carbon to iron.

I hate to break it to you guys but the secret is out.

  • @omegaturtlerock do you really believe this? there's much more to it than that... not only the components (which are far more than just iron and carbon) but only how much of them, the correct way of mixing them, working the steel correctly and so on... and there are still many secrets (like for example the reason why a sword harded in blood or urine is superior to one that was hardened in water)which noone has figured out yet

  • @charivari100

Oh, when I actually get around to figuring out the secret of urine or feces, that will be a secret I will keep to my grave.

  • @omegaturtlerock that was only supposed to be an example everyone can understand, since most people have heard of blood-hardened swords at some time (and since you can't get warriors blood that easy nowadays, hobby swordsmiths use urine)

  • @omegaturtlerock Hehehe... indeed! Steel is iron with 1,5% to 2,5% carbon. If it has less or more than that then it is other shorts of iron that do not present the much needed strength. Standard steel was produced only in the industrial era (use of modern blast furnaces, iron smelting and cleaning, addition of carbon on cast iron). Chinese who invented the blast furnace in middle ages (or so... cos it could had been the Babylonians earlier) did use it only for production of cast iron....

  • @notgodsemigod .... but cast iron was soft and not used in weaponry. Chinese just like Greeks insisted on bronze which was more expensive but then as a metal much more standardised and of a more predictable quality. Steel-like weapons were indeed produced in medieval and ancient times and the technique was to heat the metal and touch the charcoal so that particles of carbon could integrate in the outer layer - a technique developped by observation of results of such a process.

  • @notgodsemigod correction... I below I meant to say 0,5%-2,5% carbon content but the exact is from 0,2% to 2,1% to be technical. However the steel grades that are of most use are either of 0,5% to 0,8% and from 1,5% to 2,1% I think... to be noted that modern steel is not just plain iron with carbon but includes other contents, most often manganese (for extra strength)...

  • Eric's voice is fucking amazing, and Ross' solo is kick-ass.

  • I'm a manowar fan till I die, But these guys look ridiculously gay in these old outfits..

  • Do you want me to tell you the secret? Do you? Steel is not strong, my son. FLESH is power! What is the steel compared to the hand that wields it?

  • The secret of steel is in yourselve! No man, beast or god can rearrange it! Be proud of what you are, not what you want to be! Vikings from Estonia hail to you!!...and to Manowar! Hail!!!

  • Why they don't write songs like this today? the first 4 albums it's like another band! amazing tunes, melodies, epic feeling! the guitar, the bass!!! the vocals everything is amazing!!! the rest albums are nice too but the first 4 have some kind of magic in them!!! still got the chicken skin every time i listen to this song!

  • Well not every album can be a masterpiece; if they were then we wouldn't be able to make the comparisons between them in the first place. Plus, no one is able to come up with new and original ideas forever...eventually you run out of steam unfortunately.

  • You're absolutely right Brother.

But i think that The Triumph Of Steel it's a masterpiece too...

  • completley agree!!! thay are indeed magic, the sound soo pure and melodic every song is IMO a musical masterpeice soo dynamic and living songs. I whould love to se manowar connect to their old roots. But the later ones are great as fuck too^^

  • EPIC!

  • Manowar are my heroes forever. This album "Into Glory Ride" is their masterpiece. A strange thing in the text of this song though. Gold is quite weak metal for battle purposes. Shield of gold sounds strange. Solemn, but not exactly right. Hail!!! Thanx for posting

  • Right...but maybe is intended as a strong shield with golden parts, or some ceremonial shield.

  • A Scepter of IRON could mercy bring

A shield of GOLD the creator and king
