Your playing is amazing, and the expressions.. ahh they bring out the music more, its just.. so amazing.. :p you play like a robot and it looks pretty awesome. I hope to one day be at that musical level. :)
I used this video as refence when learning this piece! Beautiful playing, I can't wait till I'm at that musical level. I love the way you aproach this instrument. Thanks!
Hey, thanks so much for posting this video! Your a great marimba player, i love this piece, im currently working on this solo and im only a sophomore in High school, only movements 2&3 though, any tips?
@Thatonedudeification Hey i'm playing this piece too. Movement 2 is pretty self explanatory, but make sure to watch where rolls are and aren't tied throughout. And for movement 3 i'd say make sure to watch where the stress is supposed to be on the 5 group part in the middle. And make sure the transition from the traditional rolls to the double lateral roll at the end is smooth, even at a quieter dynamic.
Definetly one of the better version on youtube, but like the other videos, wrong note city!! Beautiful dynamic inflection would be alot better if there where less worng notes. Negativity aside tempo and dynamic changes are very smooth and really beautiful/Lush. End is fantastic, FF are not to harsh but still full and effective LOVE IT. Only complaintent is that the steven's roll with traditional/ burton (not likley) is very weak, for obvious reasons. More good than bad but the errors are
@scampow767 I am learning it dick, and if every teacher was to learn ever solo that their students had to learn in order to have the "street-cred" to critique it, a lot of time would be wasted just to say "watch your bar placement" or make technique comments. Also, a good preformer is never going to get better if they are always complimented and not pushed for the last little bit of perfection.......and for the record more of comment was good than bad
@xtwotheesee Except your point isn't valid because you aren't teaching her. She's one of the world's best marimba players and you're trying to give her pointers, when it should be the other way around. I'm entirely sure she knows what she needs to work on, so telling her is just repeating what she already knows. I don't really care if you're learning it, I learned it over a year ago, but you don't see me saying that she's missing tons of notes, even though she's not, and telling her how to play.
@scampow767 The comment box is here for a reason, she or whoever uploaded this video could of disabled it but obviously did not. I don't have to be teaching her to say what I think, and if that were the case then your points and everyone else’s point wouldn't be "valid" either. And I am not telling her to play her piece any differently than to just hit more right notes, which I don't think I need be her instructor/teacher to point out.
@scampow767 Any joe shom who is learning this or even someone with good ear training can point out the dissonances. The amount of wrong notes is relative to what your standards and her being “one of the world’s best marimba players” takes couple of wrong notes more seriously than a undergrad at college learning for their own personal growth.
@xtwotheesee Please upload your version. I'd love to hear it, because this version barely had any wrong notes as it is. So I'd love to hear a version that's perfect, with no wrong notes. Link me once you've uploaded it.
@MrAugx You can eat me and I can do as I please. Point being, the notes are there and I am going to point them out. The preformer isn't only looking to be igratiated by the viewers of youtube, because in one respect / for some, it's like a golfer telling a tennis player they have a good swing. It's only going to make her better should she strive for "a version that's perfect, with no wrong notes", and I don't my comments are completly unwarranted.
@xtwotheesee If you're actually learning this I want you to find out which notes she plays wrong in this movement and tell me where they are in the music. Also if you really are learning this you'd notice that there are notes written on the page that purposely create dissonance. So your whole "good ear training" heard the right thing, but you're too ignorant to notice what's actually written and so you called them "wrong notes" when in reality they're correct. Your argument is incorrect.
@scampow767 shhhh!!! You have been at this since the fucking summer and I am over running around in circles with you. I have bigger priorities than making a stupid diagram and don’t need any validation from you or anyone else on a petty comment i made and stand by made MONTHS ago. Deuce!
@xtwotheesee What a flawed and pointless instrument. Yes, wrong notes suck...but they happen....hush about your technique crap. You can worship LHS all you want...he's a short ass hole who ruined the percussion scene with shitty music and even worse marimbas. You will never get a steady gig playing marimba, you will never win a job playing marimba, and the odds are stacked against you 1,000,000:1 if you want to be the next marimba soloist. Shut up.
@armswim10 Look here you pretentious cherry, more than half my original statement was positive. Also I am entitled to say what I want and I will continue doing so regardless of what bitter little bitches like yourself who can't play forte higher than 4 inches have to say. Have a nice day and keep practicing whore!
@xtwotheesee you are absolutely entitled to say what you would like to....as am I. I believe that your comments on this piece and my response are harsh and unfounded. to say my response wasn't ridiculous would be wrong too. However, I made no comment on your playing...because i haven't seen it...Also, I did not question your pedigree...but i will say I am questioning it now. I wonder if you even have a degree yet...or even 2? probably not. Have fun never getting a paying gig.
@armswim10blah blah blah let it go man, it'll make you feel better and I am ed major who likes to perform but doesn’t need or desire moneys vindication that my music is good or what have you aka: I have no desire for a paying (performance) “gig”. As I said months ago I don't need a degree or even "two" to make a high school comment about wrong notes. So please save yourself and me the time of reading and making dumb arguments about my American right to state what I please
It's called caritas. But this is just the 3rd movement not 1 and 2. It's by Michael burritt.

Telling a player that he/she shouldn't miss notes is a musical troll, imo.
