Barkley is a legend...i wish he would have went to the bulls and played small forward with Scottie at the 4...They would have been the original version of the 2011 Miami Heat...
@AM8080AIMCOM Nope, the best. Timmy got the titles but that has more to do with his team being great. It's easy to look awesome with Manu, Parker, Robinson and Horry. Much more difficult to do it with Charles Shackleford, Derek Anderson and Manute Bol.
If I'd have to pick either Duncan or Barkley to win a 7 game series, there is no way I'm picking Timmy, especially the way he sometimes disappears in big playoff games (like the Detroit series that Horry saved).
Both Jordan and Barkley are right at 6'5"--The olympic teams list actual heights of players. I went to Auburn with Chuck and I'm 6'4" and he appeared to be the same height as myself-It is impressive that when it comes to points, rebounds and assist it is Wilt, Kareem, Moses, and Chuck. Barkley was one of the most dominating inside players I've even seen!
He always baffles me with his casual leap and power dunk, somebody of that bulky stature. I am also 6"4 and can hardly touc the rim of the basket with a jump
This is the Charles Barkley I remember, HE WAS RELENTLESS, just raking the offensive boards. I'm still amazed at HOW A 6'4" FRONTCOURT PLAYER COULD GET HIS SHOT OFF N THE PAINT AGAINST AN ATHLETIC BIG FORWARD LIKE HORACE GRANT WHO WAS 6'10"! Note how at :35 he just takes the ball out of Michael Jordan's hands as if he was a baby, I say this because Mike had some of the best hands I ever saw n the league, he & Julius Erving.
Mr. alc we will never see another Charles Barkley type again in the NBA. a 6`5 ft inside player that shot 55-58% 2-Point FG at 21.6-22.5 PPG Inside that is just insane!
This NBA is a disgrace compared to the 80s and Early 90s
I have alot of respect for Gary Payton. Clutch Player and probably the Best Defensive PG sicne Walt Fraizer. Karl was good, great fitness but not very versatile as a player nor in the offensive caliber as Barkley and McHale. Got better with age after he developed a nice jumper ala Patrick Ewing in the mid 90s. Did not perform well in a slow paced game where he had to design more of his shooting on his own or the clutch but still nothing like a Malone and Stockton fast Break or Pick and Roll :)
Russel is not even close to a Top 5 Center of All Time, hardly a Top 10 Center of All Time and Maybe a Top 15 Center of All Time.
Russell = Most Overrated Great Ever
Barkley = Most Underrated Great Ever
Check out in "My Favorites" foulder a 1987 Game. Celtics vs Sixers. There you can see a young 23 year old Chuck face the Prime Big 3 He even Guarded Parish for part of the game, stole the Ball from him twice, Blocked Bird from the Outside and Blocked McHale in the Paint after stoppin Parish
Dude, I remember watching that game on my little bedroom TV. The only member of the Big Three who really gave Charles serious problems issues was McHale, who was freakishly gifted in a totally different way. And that was just a defensive issue. Neither guy could guard the other. Charles was too strong for Parish and too quick for Bird defensively. Bird, well, I still think he's the best forward ever, but he couldn't face up Charles or beat him on the boards.
Check put the game in my favorites. Yes, poor Chuck he had to do everything. Bird was obviously to slow and weak physically to stop Chuck but also Bark hated when Bird left the post to shoot or to throuh a beutiful pass to McHale and Parish. McHale was the hardest job for Chuck because Bird would spot him loose and then Chuck could not stop him in the post but when McHale faced Chuck, he could force him out. And yes McHale could not stop Barkley: too fast, strong, skilled, off the dribble etc
you've gotta be fuckin kidding me you jackass. 13 years in the league, 11 rings. you can talk all the shit you want but that simple stat their says enough to shut your ignorant hole up
Crazy idea...Can you imagine if someone Charles and Michael had ended up on the same team in their prime. They'd go 77-5, fo', fo' fo' in the playoofs & celebrate the championship with a parade with the standard bearer carrying David Stern's severed head on a pole.
Ofcourse but Charles was the Most Hated Nba Player Ever and also the Most Underrated Ever. Check out the Check out in "My Favorites" folder a 1987 Game: Celtics vs Sixers. Barkley made an asoume block on Jordan that game. CENTER-like and they called it Goal Tending when it wasnt (Favoring Stern`s Most Prized Puppet=. I have the whole game, Barkley had 42 points (72% FG), 16 rebounds (11 offensive rebounds), 2 assits, 2 steals and 1 block (should have been 2 blocks!)
I just ment it pissed me off how the NBA always favored the Nice Similey Players or the ones that Stern liked to protect as $ puppets. It was not just a block but an ASOUME BLOCK. Since it was block on Jordan, then it doesnt count. That is how the NBA has always been. Just go check at how much they defend Duncan`s travelling in a 1 on 1 situation or when he makes a foul no call or how much they hype Bryant because he plays in a similar style to Jordan. Both these 2 dont even come close to Chuck
Haha. Jordan humbled Sir Charles in 1993, proved to the world that they gave the MVP to the wrong player. Charles understands what happened and who the better player was. He continues to pay homage to this day.
Sir Charles did not need Scottie Pippen who the next year took the same team to just 2 wins less and to Game 7 of the NBA Eastern Conference Finals in an epic Show against the Knicks. Charles took the Suns by himself pretty much. At 6`4-6`5 played like a G-SF, PF and C. Something Jordan could not never. Jordan and Pippen v.s Sir Charles in the Finals
That's plain stupid. The Suns had Kevin Johnson, one of the best PG's in basketball, and Dan Majerle, a very underrated shooting guard who Jerry Krause was constantly trying to trade Pippen for. In the years before Barkey arrived in Phoenix, KJ had the Suns in the Western Conference Finals twice, beating the Magic Johnson-led Lakers in 1990.
Barkley had help just like Jordan. Jordan won anyway.
MJ had Horace Grant, one of the Best Defensive PFs in the early 90s and late 90s. He had Paxon and Kerr as good & more efficient shooters than Majerlie. Pippen was in another level compared to KJ as he prooved in 1994 after Jordan left to Play Baseball he took the Bulls to just 2 wins less than the year with MJ and to battle Game 7 of the E. Semi Finals against the Knicks (as good as the Pacers did). That year Pip averaged 22 ppg, 8.7 rpg, 5.6 aspg, 2.9 spg. Pippen made his teamates FG% rise to.
that was impressive by pippen in 1994 but i dont feel surprise that the bulls could win 55 without MJ. the bulls is a real champion with MJ, a playoff contender team without MJ. i think the knick and the bulls is about the same level team in 1991-1993, bulls was a little better due to MJ. The year in 1995. i remember the bulls record is barely around 50% winning which showed the bulls had been descending led by pippen before MJ rejoined them with 18 games left.
Career EFF Leaders: 1 Wilt Chamberlain 41.50 2 Bill Russell 31.71 13 3 Oscar Robertson 31.61 4 Bob Pettit 31.11 5 Kareem Abdul-jabbar 30.93 6 Larry Bird 29.77 7 Elgin Baylor 29.74 8 Michael Jordan 29.19 9 Magic Johnson 29.10 10 CHARLES BARKLEY 28.16 Still looking for Karl Malone and Tim Duncan in the top 15. Need I Say More?
Incidentally, for pure athleticism, Wilt Chamberlain may have been the most remarkable men who ever lived, and that's without asking the ladies. Check his track bests and weight-lifting PRs. Even Russell admitted that his only advantage over Wilt was that Wilt was basically a really nice guy who was trying not to kill people by accident.
Thats my line up but I still have a difficulty picking for the Center Spot. I mean Kareem and Hakeem where more Skilled and Versetaile than Wilt and Shaq but Wilt and Shaq where more Dominating and Onstoppable Offensively. Then again Shaq was not the Defender Hakeem and Wilt where or The Game Creators/Passesr Kareem and Wilt where. See? Its kind of hard to Pick the Center Spot but if you want a Pure Centers I`d go with Wilt or Kareem if you want a Center that plays more than just Center: Hakeem
Excellent argument. I'm thinking about what you wrote and I'm thinking that I can't rate Russell better then 4th--Wilt, Kareem & Hakeem all have too much over Russell.
But tell Wilt to stop trying not to kill people & forget about being nice and it's no question. Have you seen the clip where an aging Chamberlain swats two consecutive skyhooks from Kareem at point blank? Amazing.
Russel is not even close to a Top 5 Center of All Time, hardly a Top 10 Center of All Time and Maybe a Top 15 Center of All Time.

lol man Wilt is the most verstaile center,he was great in scoring, rebounding and blocking as every other great center but what makes him the most verstaile is his passing skills. he even lead the league in assists one year.
Someone try to get the Chuck hero act of 1993 play-offs vs the Lakers, Spurs and Sonics. Barkley played like a monster most of those games and had to be guarded by David Robinson, and still owned XD
