It does a little bit, but it affects the other racer's positions more than it affects your own, it occasionally looks like they're jumping around.

Time a wheelie on the last bounce of the POW, and you'll dodge it, you'll still lose items, but you'll continue on at the same speed. Same principle applies to karts as well

It's difficult to organize a match with anyone who isn't from the UK anytime other than during the weekend for me currently as I'm back at uni, but even then I'll normally be out in the evening which will be the day time for you, and lots of others, which is a problem.

I don't see why it's a problem for me to not do friend races anymore. I don't play Mario Kart anymore outside of doing requests and I don't think it's unreasonable to not accept friend matches in Mario Kart anymore. I'm also pretty busy considering I'm a university student as well.
