Ryan Jones makes a useless 6 and a great 8. He's twice the player Powell is at number 8 and should have toured and maybe even started depending on his form over there.

Quinlan is 34 and Ferris is 23. Ferris was one of the standout players for us in the 6N and the last time Quinlan played international rugby he was way off the pace against NZ in the Autumn. Theres no contest Ferris is the better player and the wiser option against the physical springboks.
