  • yup,

     miss old country songs...

  • We are driving in my dads ole truck and eating fresh tomatoes we just bought from the stand and salt and pepper shakers on the dash!! Great times and thanks John for the music.

  • Im feeling this song tonight, as its Friday and as usual Im alone..or at least it feels like I am. Definitely a country music kinda night.

  • the only country singers that are still keeping it real are george strait and alan jackson

  • I love this song and agree with so many of you. We need these guys and their songs back again.

  • Of all of the great country music to come out during the 70's and early 80's, this is definitely one of the greatest among the greats. I have lots of great memories tied to this song.

  • what a great singer and a dam nice guy.john cares about his fans unlike alot of the new people out there today singing.

  • drinkin a beer for the ole days with my dad...aint no more music like this today!! Ill have another for you pops...RIP i love you

  • Awwh... My Momma Used To Dance This With My Daddy With A Cold Beer In Her Hand On A Friday Night(: Damn... What Happened To Country? </3

  • My husband was a truck driver when this song came out. He'd come in off the road and just want to sleep and lay around while I'd been home way out in the country with all the kids and no car and I just wanted to go spend some time with him doing something, so this was my Theme Song!! :-D

  • @talan89 This song reminds me when i was growing up listening to the song . friday night blues by John Conlee on 8 track in my dad's 69 chevy pick up

  • @rsfreak209 It was various years of Ford F100s and a green 67 Chevrolet C10 for me with my dad. Damn, those were the days!

  • @rsfreak209 By the way, every time I hear music like this, I want to go onto Ebay and buy one of them old trucks to relive the good ole' days.

  • One of the best talents Country music has ever seen!

  • memories!!

  • Always felt so sorry for the woman in the song.

  • Brings back memories of my childhood. My dad had this record. I loved it.

  • i can remember me and my dad dance to this song in our kitchen when i was like 5. this is real country music.

  • @purpledath You must be about my age then. I remember riding in the car when this song was new and getting air-play.

  • @FreedomLover1973 I remember this as a kid too....My mom loved this guy to death!

  • new country is so stereotypical its all the same with a slightly and i mean slightly different beat

  • You sing it john

  • It astounds me how people bash today's country music as crap, and not really country. When John Conlee was making records, a lot of people said that his records were crap, and not really country.

You don't have to like either, but at least show some respect.

  • @dragknuckle I can't respect modern country when nearly every song is geared toward 17 year old girls.

  • Off of vinyl! Thank you for posting this! I miss the pops and crackles!!!!!!

  • Love this one too.

  • Thank you for putting this song up! Love it!

  • this song is so true for me right now I am a single mother of 4 toddlers and i miss going out on friday but i deal with by having a disney movie and pizza with my 4 little toddlers it helps

  • I remember as a kid, my mom had the friday night blues every week, after her and my dad divorced, great song tho, we saw him at the hall of fame in catoosa oklahoma, and she got to sing rose colored glasses with him and he gave her his signature glasses he wears during that song, : ) have pictures also, was a very fun night..!

  • I love the words and melody, We can't deny our roots people without our roots there'd be no new country, western whatever, when i like a song it's the lyrics and melody usually not the genre, if i feel it, it's good with me. We are all different and feel different things at different times, peace out...

  • this is real country music right here... taylor swift is a joke

  • Guess the jury is out. New country sucks. Bring back the old guys.

  • @cyoteblues

Hey All, Check out Ricky Cooper "Jackies Rainbow", "The One I'll Never Hold" and "If I Died Tonight" They are New Releases that still have the Good Ole Country sound. If you like old style Country I think you will enjoy Ricky's Music.

  • I need beers to go whith my tears!

  • As much as I hate it, this is my song of the moment

  • its good but taylor swift better. but like the beat....mite use this 4 langue arts project.

  • @taylor13swift130 no fu**ink way , you wanted a rise you got it!!!

  • @taylor13swift130 lol new country suck big time lol lol lol lol lol natsy s@#t lol

  • love this !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I can't be convinced that all new country is bad, but face it. This is where it's at! Preach it, John.

  • okay momma here your and dadday song.!!!!

  • Yet another song I will remember. Details of the 80's march through my mind and I know what was going on when he was singing. Thank you Jon!

  • I learned this song a long time ago and now i play and sing it with some friends called The Porcupine Mountain Boys a bluegrass group from New Brunswick Canada and we do it bluegras stile and i think you will enjoy it so check us out.

  • everytime i play a classic country song, people say , new country sux, and i agree, so when will the ama's acm's and all the other country music award shows start listening to the fans.. we don't won't taylor swift, keith urban, ect,,, their not country, this pop country of today sux!!!!!!

  • i bet everyone who commented on this video is 25+ lol

  • @guitarkiller1312

I just turned 24 in July, but my parents loved old country so i was raised on it.

  • @guitarkiller1312 im 21 and this is the only style of country ill listen to.. the only new artist that knows real country is jamey johnson.. his music is old style.. country gold at its finest right here

  • @punished2lonelyness taylor swift IS a joke

  • Mmmm. They just don't make Tostidos like they used to.

  • True Pure Country from an era we will probably never equal

  • memory's thays all i can say memory's

  • great song, lots of good memory's that go along with this one, thanks for sharing..

  • i still love friday nites, even if you work, 7 days and 12 hr shifts, u have 2 love friday nites!!!

  • damn it has been a good 10yrs since i have heard this song n i heard it today at the carwash when i was loading a car up onto the track n i just stayed there for a sec n i rember most of the lyrics even though i havent heard it for a long time. Great song

  • This is the only country worth listning too now.

The country we listen to now is just like rap.

They talk aout getting drunk, getting a peice, and picking up hookers.

    This is the good stuff.

  • fuck yes

i listen to all kinds of music

but this is just bad ass

love you for putting this up and love john Conlee

  • He sounds just like this live now thats talent.. Most country stars edit their voice so they sound diff. live but not him!! I love you John, oldies forever!!

  • Used to love listening to Uncle John sing this acoustic. He should have recorded it that way. Still brings back the memories of sitting around at grandma's house. Oh how I miss those days. Thanks for posting this.

  • Its a beautiful song and one that I wish was played on the general radio, but the absolute best thing about this song is the record cover.

Just one reason to bring vinyl back.

  • classic

  • The country singers like him, Charlie Pride, Cal Smith, you can't beat them. I hate it when you get a new singer (shania, I heard) who is getting famous and they say that they changed the face of country music, what for it was great the way it was and better.

  • Isn't it ironic (don't ya think) that we are watching vinyl being played on youtube?

  • This is such a good song by a great singer.

  • It's terrible these days people. I work in radio for a major company. I'm a board op at a talk station at nights. There's 5 stations in this building. One of them is a big country station, it's sad to look through their playlist and see mostly junk. I wouldn't care if Nashville quit making country music.

  • @MrBigrobmjca3 I feel the same way. Yeah they should just go ahead and close Nashville. No big loss now. Haha! In fact it would be a favor to our ears. I stopped listening to country in the early 90s and haven't looked back since. It just became the new star of the month club while tossing out all the real singers with long careers from the 60s-70s Yeah just like everything else now today's "country" is crap.

  • @mzwere1 There are still a few decent artist out there. You can't really expect styles and sounds to stay the same through the decades, you just have to learn to be open to change and keep an ear out for people that are making music to sound good and not to hit the top of some chart.

  • Theirs nothing like OLD Country music!

  • Oh the Friday night blues love this song, use to listen to this always thank you for the post

  • I'm a stay at home mom and this is my day to day life...I love this song!

  • I close my eyes listiening to this and its 1980 and I'm driving my old pinto to college to make an 8am class, my whole life stretching ahead of me...

  • @chadc0613 Got to love a pinto and this song.

  • this song was made for me this is really my life comment left by shirley but i'm the one who works all day and he lays on the couch

  • Generation X that's what happened...

  • "Before my time" is our favorite. I wish someone could post it. I only hear it on XM radio's Roadhouse channel.

  • This is John's last top 10 hit. It came out in '86.

  • i love this song!!! this is what i grow up too

  • me too! I love it!

  • This brings back great memories of 12th grade HS and going in the USAF!

I listened to KKYX "Great Country 68"

  • - this man & this music- is priceless- i love it-- my question now is- what happened to Country Music & where is it today, because that crap they play now- has got no heart-- its garbage!!

  • @codyjarrett39 every gene of music is like that now its hard to find good artist out there anymore now its all about money n its sad to see music goin down the drain.

  • @Thegreatjoker13 It's all about putting on a "show" not showing your pure talent. Most artists of today either came from American Idol or an equally stupid reality show which requires ZERO talent to be on.

  • GOOD SONG...ONE OF MY FAV'S

  • LOVE this song. It's so real and so true... I never understood it growing up, but now it has a whole new meaning.

  • I love this song. I remember my mom listening to this When I was a kid. Great Song. Such a talent. Country music now isnt worth listening to anymore.

  • I've got my hat and boots ready for tonight and I'm playing this song over and over cause it gets me in the mood to dance.I wish new country would take some notes from these older songs that have real meaning.

  • i agree!

  • @lungcow well said!

  • @lungcow Haha yea, that's where I got my old taste in country music as well.

  • I am a Mexican born 44 year old man and I remember my boss leastening to these good old songs as I could not make up a single word they said or mean..but I sure could sing them..Great good old music. Hello Luling TX.. Juan Castillo

  • Ola Amigo, Keep singing.......

  • I love this, right down to the vinyl pops. It's almost like listening to my old 33 1/3. :) Thanks for this.

Country just isn't like it was anymore.

  • I wished country music was still this great today

  • Great classic! It's a shame they suspended Lazydaysleeper again...

  • @jamesbaileytx What happened to Lazydaysleeper? He/she posted some good work.

  • @1011mn He got suspended for copy right violations. It happened two or three times, but he always managed to get his channel back. He either got tired of messing around with the powers that be or they gave him a life ban.

  • im only 20 my dad is a truck driver and i used to go all over with him and this and the commodores were our riding music lol i love the oldies

  • Wrong song brother, that isn't Rose colored glasses
