The lineup here was actually with Tony Iommi (later Black Sabbath) ,who left the group after some weeks because the music was to weired for him,LOL,They really captured some of the rock`n roll`s weirdest (but cool) moments here,
the rest: Clive Bunker on drums,Glenn Cornick on bass,Ian Anderson on vocal..Awesome song anyway ! :)
@toxicpizza72 Iommi and the whole band mimed so Tony didn't capture anything.it's Mick Abrahams playing guitar here as this recording is the 'this was' line up.
Tull was the only band using backing track although vocak was live. Producers were between two new bands Tull and Zep , but Zep was too "guitary" and there was already a hard rock band called The Who. Tull was the happy one but Mick Abrahams had just left and Tommy Iommy wasn`t adequate enough. So they imitated playing.
@davidallenrost Close, but not quite. It was actually The Who's set on A Quick One...that inhibited the release of the video. The Who just came off a tour of North America, Australia, and New Zealand in the same year of '68 when this was recorded, so they were ready.
The Rolling Stones not so much, they started their set well past 2 am, and in the end were "dissatisfied" "weary". Since when does that happen It's obvious that The Who just - what many consider - played one the best live shows eve!

Cancion dedicada a Jeffrey Hammond-Hammond (tecladista), amigo de la infancia de Ian Anderson. (Jethro Tull fue verdaderamente un inventor y agronomo ingles)
@Jeffery102086 Is the whole circus on video that can be purchased? I'm just sad that the one video was pulled so I'm trying to find a way to get it. If you would please let me know It'd be much appreciated,
I'm Very sorry, ..that my video clip which you are looking for..in no longer time the clip has been inactivated by youtube authority...in accordance with complaining by third party..
@dedes61 It seems as though all the songs I like the most are being taken off of youtube and this was one of them. By any chance do you know how I can purchase the video with this song on it and where? Thank you.
@dedes61 I'm not sure but the reason that this fabulous performance is no longer viewable is because the Stones were blown away by the support acts so Mr.Jagger and Mr.Richards put a block on it.Same as when they nabbed the royalties from Bitter sweet symphony by the Verve. What a shame Bo Diddley didn't sue them for ripping him off left right and centre.
I'm kinda hoping that some day before I fucking die, I'll see the clip of Tull performing this song with Tony Iommi. It's eluded me for almost 4 decades. Here it is, but of course, there's no fucking video. Cannot find it with an actual video anywhere on YouTube. Has anyone out there seen it?
Yeah, back when Black Sabbath was still working under the band name Earth, Iommi left and joined up with Ian Anderson and the boys for a short while. Tony credits Ian with teaching him to treat being in a band like a real job (get up early, hit the studio, rehearse all day, do it again the next day, etc...)...........
@UserNamei5 I have a right to my opinion so I won't shut the fuck up. Tull is still a third rate band in my opinion and I will say it if I fucking well want to. That's called commenting in a public forum, which is what YT encourages.
@blazingapostle123 I have a right to my opinion, and my opinion is that Tull are a third rate band. If that upsets you that's not my problem. I still, however, have a right to my opinion. Tull mimed on the R and R circus and that's the mark of a third rate band, in my opinion.
@UKRod if you think that the fact that they lip synced on R n R Circus is a cause for them being a third rate band, we better put The Rolling Stones, Taj Mahal, The Who and everyone else that was apart of that film on that list because they all did that for the making of the film. If you have seen the film you would even notice at times the lead guitar player isnt even plugged in
But I stick my tongue out at you because Jethro Tull rocks, maybe put up your art form, and we can see what you do :)
@UKRod Yeah you're entitled to your opinion, that's exactly what I like about the internet. I get to watch people make idiots of themselves. Tull is world-renowned (for 40 years now) as being one of the best live acts.
Ha! Jethro Tull, the only performers to MIME on the Rolling Stones Rock and Roll Circus. They were scared to perform live and show themselves up for the 3rd rate band they really were. Never understood their appeal, especially the stork with the flute balancing on one leg at the front.
@UKRod obviously you have the right to your opinion, but everyone is just saying your opinion is stupid and invalid. Nobody said anything about you not having a right to say what you want, we are just simply dis-agreeing (which is our right as well.) Now go listen to some garbage euro trash band in your moms basement.
Just wondering out loud. Do you happen to have the Thick as a Brick song
from this concert and can post it ? Best version I`ve heard of it. Thanks....

This movie was not released to the public for years. It was said that Jagger was really jealous of this set by Tull.

@UKRod so you never understood their appeal? Let's see...
1.) Incredibly creative and meaningful lyrics
2.) Frontman's voice is unlike anything you've ever heard
3.) Dynamic group- experiments with a variety of musical genres
4.) Very talented musicians over the years- Anderson's flute, Barre's guitar, Barlow's drums
5.) Great live performers!
