  • 1:52 Ouch!

"Love on Your Side" was great. "Lies" wasn't bad. "Hold me now." was the kind of thing you hear while queued up waiting to speak to a human being with a question about your car insurance.

  • And with a cameo from Martha Quinn. What a bonus!

  • Haven't heard this in well over 20 years!

  • Love this song

  • THIS WAS THE 1st VIDEO I SAW ON M tv AFTER WE FINALLY GOT CABLE & HAVE BEEN & STIILL LOVE THIS BAND......NOW IF ONLY M tv STARTED PLAYING VIDEO'S AGAIN......LIVE WOULD BE MUCH BETTER.........

  • THEY JUST DONT MAKE MUSIC OR BANDS LIKE THIS,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

    GENIUS

  • I had forgotten the name and chorus of this. All I could recall was "rap boy rap" and "I don't understand just what I'm doing to myself". Coming back now.

  • When I see Tom now, he reminds me of Hugh Grant (but Tom's teeth are worse)

I love this song. Clever lyrics!

  • I could hear The Ting Tings covering this!

  • MARTHA QUINN..cutie pie

  • @rowdymax1 ...she sure was....met her and mark goodman back in 85....we sat in their seats by accident...she was so sweet..couldn`t believe she was sitting a few seats away from me!

  • Dude has Best Mullet EVER

  • Like 316 Love everything about this!

  • I love the bit with Martha at the end.

*Sigh* Remember when MTV showed NOTHING BUT VIDEOS??

  • @sandu2342 The good ol' days.

  • Always loved this band.

  • 2:09 RAP BOY RAP!

  • songs back then was awesome. i really hate listening to modern songs of "today" .. always with the 80s, till the end.

  • @alharthy50 They were the best then. I appreciate the music better now with the likes of Xcrement Factor making me crave for Azerbaijani Death Metal:-)))

  • Tom is so good looking here [no homo]

One of their best songs indeed

  • I like this song, but I can't believe someone actually compared them to James Brown. Holy George Clinton! For a true funk, go watch Parliament Funkadelic videos. That said, I saw TT in 1984 or so and it was a fun pop show.

  • great verse, shit chorus

  • vive gta vcs

  • This would sound great in ghostbusters!!!

  • funky. stank funky and from the UK. Thought only James Brown could deliver funk, eh? LOL CLASSIC and waayyy ahead of their time.

  • It was cool to see a young beautiful Martha Quinn VeeJaying at the end.

  • Gr8 song. 1 of my favs. (Y)

  • I think the chorus of this song resembles the Stevie Wonder song I Wish.

  • number one new wave tune. btw I want his haircut bad

  • @Retrodon25 It's awesome, but I think he and Roland Orzabel from Tears For Fears ar the only two guys who can pull off the rat tail haircut that well.

  • I never heard of that TT song! I only have their best (international) hits on my mp3: Lies, Hold Me Now, Lay Your Hands, Doctor x2, King For A Day.

  • anyone know what they are doing now? Tom alahna and jo. you never hear about them nowdays but they were pretty big then

  • great!! the twins have to come baaaack!!

  • I GREW DREDS THANKS TO JOE

  • @marc08110 THEY CAN MAKE THE TOP 10 TODAY

  • THe presenter at the end looks like Joanne Cathrell from The Human Leauge

  • @dougiewhite778 Nah, that's Martha Quinn.

  • God, this is still so fresh.

  • @ivycompton yeah the bad hair extensions, boys in pastel makeup and chessy syth sounds havent dated a bit.

not that i dont love this shit

  • Wow, totally ripped off MTV. Too bad you didn't cut off the VJ's inane commentary.

  • love loooove love on your side

  • This video is a treasure!

  • great song and video....a must have

  • nice . i meet this song for this game

  • Up way to late adding to my 80's play list. Can't complain found this gem!

  • I played you all my favorite records!

  • Wow Martha Quinn at the end.....she looks kinda hot....almost forgot about her.

  • I like the edginess from 80's music!

  • OH LAY HOUR HANDS ON ME ! . —– Nossa ! Muito Sexy ! . Infelizmente não sinto mais a mesma Paixão & Comprometimento com a Diversão nas letras de hoje em dia. Esta música é um escândalo, é uma foda !. ; )

  • The album was Quick Step and Side Kicks not Sidekicks *grumbles*

  • @brismike65 In the USA it was released as "Side Kicks".

  • OMG! Martha Quinn at the END! Wow! I feel like I"m 13 again. Such a change from what ugly mess Mtv is now.

  • Love is always on the good side with THIS song.....MORE FANTASTIC ´80´s music on my channel!!!!

  • No offense but some one needs to upload a better quality vid... :(

  • QUALITY

  • This song is so awesome. I love these guys... I heard the Thompson Twins on the radio today and I did a giddy dance!

  • This is one IPOD banger! Love it always!

  • I am realizing that I've listened to these lyrics so many times, that I am now living them. "it doesn't hurt to be alone"... or, on YouTube, apparently ; but the best is that Tom the lead singer actually had to grow that rat tail.... because it was in the day before extensions

  • I love the lighting in this video. The close ups of Tom's face with the white background is some great video production.

  • Gr8 song. 1 of my favs. my favs from em r Hold Me Now & Love On Your Side.

  • hill end? st albans

  • Tom is proper hot !!

  • Alannah Curry was always self conscious about her body, that's why she wore the crazy hats and funky outfits, it wasn't just an 80s thing.

  • I was blown away the first time I heard this song all those years ago and it still sounds so infectious. Such a funky and unique bass!!

  • the dogs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • My fav TT's song. Tom is so hot!

  • you can love looove love on your side (8)... i love the song

  • OH My god i use to dance so

    much to this song

    at local discos . . ..

    great song. . .

  • this is a legend 80's tune

  • Into the Gap by Thompson twins , along with Dare by the Human League was one of THE defining 80's albums,

AND Tom Bailey was born in Chesterfield! yay!

  • Rap boy Rap!!!

I love the instrumental bit for "In the Name of Love". Such a taboo topic for a song of the early 80s!

  • I love this tune.

  • i love it , i love it ! 80s genius !!

  • apparently TT is planning a reunion. First and only time I saw them was in 84 with re-flex (another great but underrated band.) and they really did a kick ass show. they put all their heart and soul into it. no one does music like this anymore, it's sad.

I had to give you the thumbs up for the comment!

  • ey,..someone had to say it

  • This basically started white dance music but yes black music was awesome also.

  • The Wave 103 on VCS imo was better because it had Blue Monday by New Order my favorite 80s song ever. Well of course except Billie Jean *sniff* RIP MICHAEL!

  • I agree, the Wave 103 on VCS had better more unique songs, "Quiet Life", "How to be a Millionaire", "Too Shy", too many to list. And yes, :-( about MJ, I love him, he defined the 1980s!

  • The Wave 103 on VCS isent better!! it not have 99LuftBallon!!

  • where are they now? Thompson Twins..

  • Ahhhh, what a top 80's track. Kids today have sooooooo missed out!

  • @saddlers67 Yeah we do, but if we're lucky enough we bump into this great music :D

  • there were many good songs on Wave 103, I love ABC - How To Be A Millionaire and Japan - Quiet Life, great selection of songs by game producers

  • oh yeah!

  • nice memories of the 80s

  • i wonder what the blonde friut loop looks like these days, if he or she? is still around!

  • no shit lol

  • Nobody knows what the ashes symbolize in the video except me...

  • Loved this group. Not all thier songs were great, didnt like we are detectives, but this is great

  • They're just so cool, they're themselves and like nothing else. They have a very distinct sound, and I love it all. Wish more people agreed.

They're much more than the silly 80s band I've heard people make them out to be. I'd even say their stuff is arty...it's got that real texture and style that paints a picture.

  • Johnny - the only person who could possibly agree MORE with you is ME. Honestly, this song and others they do made me so happy. Distinct, cool, funky.

  • @ 2:10 ..........wth was that lol! That was like a screen door on a submarine. Still great tune though.

  • this song is gta vice city stories nee das ist doch der song der song von den sender fresch nee

  • saw these in concert a couple of time in the early 80s, they were very good live I thought

  • Visually this is beautiful. Tom Bailey is as stiff as a board, but the shit looks good here. LOL Just my take. One of my favs.

    Tanx Mac.

  • great song! and the singer looks cute!

  • Thompson Twins are so cool. Where are they now????????

  • OML!!! Martha Quinn!! She was soo much better than the rest tho Alan Hunter was my crush back then hah ha

  • I thought this was a Human Leauge song - how odd!

  • Fuck me, what a great tune!

  • Tom Bailey was probably my first crush. Tom is cute, great singer, and can play almost any instrument that you can possibly know that exist.

  • Question: What song do the horns play after he sings the line "I play you all my favorite records"? If you know the answer, you are amazing.

  • I've actually been curious about what song it is :(

  • It's actually one of their earlier songs called In The Name of Love.

  • YES! That's it. Thank you for answering a question that's been bugging me for over a month!

  • Hi,

Don't know if you got the answer already, but the horns play a part of another Tompson Twins song, namely 'In the name of love'.

    Bye

  • When they played this live, Tom would sing the words to "In the name of love" with the synth line.

  • tom was so pop star crucial, i love it.

  • This song was on Gta vice city

  • Ah listen to that synth!!

  • This was one of my ALL TIME favorite group

  • Love this song, thanks for posting!

  • Fast future in extreme.

  • I dont see where everyone thinks this band is weird...other-bands that I've seen and hear their music sounds like junior high-to third grade music...thats weird..

  • euxaristw =]

  • and this one as well which is my main video blog

  • thankyou for your comments please click on my name for my new channel. You folks are welcome to pay it a vist

    Gareth Alan Willmer

  • got this on 12 inch vinyl haven't heard it in years funny how all the words come straight back

  • British bands are the best!

  • This song brings great memories! I love the music of Thompson Twins for being so creative and of course because it was pure New Wave!

  • music of eighties is best

  • the wave- 103

    love on your sidee haha

  • the eighties provided few examples of good music . this is one of them

  • This is an execellent song, one of their best!!

And I must say, I love Allanah's hair!

  • Does anybody remember a singer from the 80' named something like Rosie Vella?

I think she had one albom called "Diamonds".

  • yes,she had an album out called Zazu, which had the magic smile single on it...great album too x

  • Vela, She was america's Sam Fox, i think its; can't imagine how, fave song from n old tape. lovin the twins

  • Yes, she was Jeff Lynne's (ELO) girlfriend / partner. Her album was called Zazu. The single called Magic Smile is on YT. You have a good memory! Regards.Paul

  • Great song - does anyone have the slow chilled out version?

  • love the 80s classics

  • i WAS AT A CONCERT IN ENGLAND AND SAW TOM BAILEY IN CONCERT AND HAD A CHORUS OF VIOLINS

AND TOM WAS BANGIN ON THAT PROPHET SYTH...

  • I had no idea Punky Brewster was an MTV VJ in the 80s.

  • Just call it a classic retoro's 80's

  • 80's @ their best!

  • Best part: the young & cute Martha Quinn at the end. Reminds me of 9th grade.

  • my favorite

  • Fantastic !!!!! have just bought the 2 disc reissues of "Q.S.A.S.K." and "Into The Gap". :) :)

  • quick step and side kicks was the best album the twins ever put out. all 80s tunes are not timeless. But gotta love the stuff from 81-85. gotta love the t-twins.

  • I've been searching for a video that utilises

an old saw : in the vid a woman is speaking and pearls and diamonds and flowers flow from her mouth..

    Can anyone help me?

  • Pearls come out of Alannah's mouth in "King For A Day"--not sure if that's what you mean though.

  • spit / swallow / gagging on a pearl necklace - nothing sexual ?

  • Try finding me a synthesizer track which doesn't sound dated. Anyway, if it does sound dated, why - as you've said - is that unfortunate? It's a good thing in my book. An extremely good thing.

  • Great songs but it's annoying how he can't sing in time with the music!

  • I love this song! The video is a tad bit weird, but it's from the 80's, they were just having fun with most of the videos produced, so I don't see what the fuss is all about. Plus the hair was wacky, and this is a fine example. If you have nothing positive to say about videos, I wouldn't bother posting because it only causes fights that no one can win. Thank you so much for posting this!

  • My favorite song from their 1983 album. In the videos there's a very little "flashback" of the song (In The Name Of Love-their 1982 hit song, but no videos of it) when the singer sang "I play all your favorite records".

  • Underrated.........better than their hairstyles would permit.
