@felisestilo wat ur mum said was correct! that bridge indeed was there before it was torn down as the new bridge was up n ready. whenever i ride or drive along P.I.E towards jurong, i always noticed that bridge years back. now it is gone, wat a sad scenery knowing a bridge has been used by legendary late P.Ramlee for one of his movies. an iconic bridge that maybe our old timers remember for the residents around balestier n toa payoh area ya! once again thank you for the info ur mum has relay ya!
