  • I love this movie and love all the music i just love watching this movie over and over again cant get enough of it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Greatest original soundtrack maybe ever but certinaly the most underated.

  • weird my brothers

  • weird

  • There are elements to this song's instrumentals that seem to echo in Cobain/Nirvanah's "Smells like Teen Spirit"...

  • @ESmith5172 I hope that is a typo, you know that "Nirvanah" is actually spelled "Nirvana" without an "h"?

  • Time flys young ones ,l,m 39 and it has the same effect on me ,still after all these years .l must have been about 17 the 1st time l seen the movie , bought the soundtrack as soon l could get my hands on it (not so easy in a small basckward town in the erly 80,s) ..lol on a thing called a record lol

  • @panzermann007 i hear ya man! im 37 and it was the bomb

  • It is a shame not to know that this song and indeed the entire movie extensively references "Une Saison en Enfer" (A Season in Hell) ~ an extended poem written and published in 1873 by French writer Arthur Rimbaud. If you want to blow your mind... look him up... started Une Saison when he was only 19... what are/were you doing when you were 19?? ;-)

  • @JamesJoyce12 I loved how they combined the poetry and the music... all my favorite songs work out that way.

  • i would love to cover this song one day and share it with a new generation...this movie is epic!!!!!!

  • 60 NOW .... WATCHED FROM THE START....EDDIE LIVES...

    WITH ME

  • 60 NOW .... WATCHED FROM THE START....EDDIE LIVES

  • LOL at the people saying "eddie wilson was a fictional character".

  • @kappy0405 Youre a dumb ass.

  • @TheUnknownMax - Ok child.

  • wheres the rest..

  • anyone else feel like the best part of the song is the outro (that was cut from this)?

  • I first watched this movie when i was just a kid and i loved it and to this day still do and im only 18. I cried at the end. lol. but i love this song.

  • @TNB11508 I first watched it when I was in 8th grade and I'm 20 now ;)

  • Michael Pare was HOT HOT HOT in this movie!!! and John Cafferty and the beaver brown band was the bomb... wish they would have made it bigger than they did...

  • I must listen to this song about three times a year, and it has never failed to kill! Thanks for the great post!

  • 10 ppl are still in hell

  • i want something great.something that nobodys everdone before.we aint great were just some guys from jersey.if we cant be great then there no chance in playin music ever again sal.two of the best musicals of all time eddie 1 and eddie lives

  • I'm a rock lover too. Eddie and the Cruisers is one of my favorite movies. I like the music. Viola(Sparkle)

  • eddie wilson is pure fiction created to make a good movie but still the music rules

  • Awesome!!

  • Eddie didn't die...

  • and you have three kids by eddie, right

  • @BaronM lol

  • You people do realize the movie is pure fiction and that the character, Eddie Wilson, faked his death hence him being in the window at the end of the film with a beard. There was also a sequel, Eddie Lives!, that was just horrible compared to the first. Music was performed by John Cafferty & The Beaver Brown Band, just so we're clear on this.

  • @prodigyofpeace1983

No way man, it was a documentary. Stop kidding us.

  • @prodigyofpeace1983 I think they realize Eddie is a fictional character. They're just having fun. I confess that I think of John Caffferty as Eddie. I love both these movies for the music not the plots. Michael Pare's performance as Eddie is marvelous tho he does a bang up job of lip synching and does it perfectly. That is a hard thing to do.

  • @prodigyofpeace1983 durrr thanks for clearing it up for us morons dr obvious...just so we're clear on this.

  • @prodigyofpeace1983 Holy Shit Eddie isn't real???????? I just went to one of his concerts last Saturday........What trickery is this?????

  • @TheBeatlesgirl66 LMAO!

  • Awesome movie, awesome soundtrack!

  • @UpInThisMixTrix, agreed! <3

  • Michael Paré is so freaking HOT! :D I wish he could stay young forever! ^^

  • What a GREAT film and a GREAT soundtrack! This movie was MUCH better than the second one imo.

  • classic

  • Eddie was a movie character.... John Cafferty sings all of the Eddie soundtrack tunes... along with the Beaver Brown Band.

  • this is wat u call music,i love eddies music.eddie is not dead,he will live long and always rock

  • Comment removed

  • I cant believe how many people like this movie,I thought it was like just another good movie that slid by alot of people.NICE VIDS

  • I love this song. Looovvvve movie/s

  • I think most of all their songs are good (my opinion of course) and still surprised the movies (esp the 1st one) didnt do well at the box office when i think its a great believable story - along with the music..... guess J Cafferty & the b b band need more credit / publicity because i know LOTS of people who looked for 'Eddie & the cruisers' and couldnt find it.....

  • @rick513513 yes it is hard to find anything about this movie unless you order it online. It's hard to find the book that this movie was based on as well.

  • @rick513513....you can watch and download for free at -Watch Movies Online Free-just added.Love it..

  • this song fits perfectly in the story its also a very strong guitar song...the subte licks here express so much

  • such a goood song I LOVE IT so passinette and hes hott which is a bonus :) ilysm

  • Best guitar in this song...so passionate!

  • The best music soundtrack of all time. I love John Cafferty and the Beaver Brown band.

  • This movie had an impact on me when I saw it at age 14 in a motel on vacation with my family. I wanted to be in a band after that, and I bought the soundtrack on cassette and wore it out I played it so many times. Still one of the best soundtracks ever.

  • This movie is straight Jersey!! One of my favorite flicks of all time.

  • My fave song from the film, the whole movie inspired me to have a music career, seriously.

  • The movie is classic. Can't have the dream you want then it's not really your dream anyway.

  • Irememberu100, I know how you are feeling. So am I . . . . . .

  • I LOVETHIS SONG MY FAVORITE

  • The best movie about a fictional Rock star that I've ever seen.

BTW -I saw it in the theatre when it first came out in 1983 -I think?

It may not've earned big numbers at the box office, but everyone I knew who saw it thought it was great.

  • Mucho Cool man! Good stuff here!

  • these movies made me respect music and what it really takes to make it... rip eddie wilson but then again eddie wilson will always live on in any one's heart who truly loves real music.

  • @celicadriver101

althouggh i agree a movie like this was apsalutly amazing and can make almost anyone really repect music but i have to say Eddy wilson was a fictional charactor

not someone who accually died the movie was based on a novel and the music came from an amazing band called John Cafforty and the Beaver Brown Band out of Rohde Island

  • @celicadriver101 Not so sad, In the Sequel you'll learn HE LIVE'S :D :D :D

  • @celicadriver101 even though he really doesn exist... lol

  • any one read a season in hell by arthur rimbaud that book not only inspired this movie it inspired me ashs mom

  • i love this movie so much and Season in Hell and on the Dark Side are my 2 favorite songs but they need to show more real pictures of Eddie Wilson

  • the words in this song are realy powerfull. i can serriously relate to this song big time. eddie wilson lives.

  • I love this song its my favorite from all the songs from both movies

  • Does this music not just reach out and grab ya? It is so powerful...makes me wish I was back in highschool in the mid 80s. Wanna do it all over again~

  • i guess we didnt realize how lucky us old timers were to grow up in the 80s i get letters everyday from young adults. and i call them young adults. because i always hated the term kid growing up. anyway the music the cars. the friday and saturday nights. oh man. cruizing into the future. we had it made. god bless

  • "words and music"...Eddie Wilson Lives!!!!

  • eddie wilson lives

  • even though it's eighties it also has a little 90's in it as well you can here it if you listen for it

  • BAD ASS!

Those two words, say it all...

    Nuff said.

  • Amen!!!!!!!!!

  • i think it is beautiful

  • i think how the movie did in the box office is a foreshadow of eddies music in the movie...rejected and ahead of its time...

  • It bombed at the box office then HBO picked it up (Back then you only had HBO, maybe 1 other movie channel). It kicked ass and was then re-released and movie theaters were packed.

  • This was always a great song.

    Love EDDIE forever!!!

  • This is one of the best songs of all time and it brings back my childhood

  • gotta suck for John Cafferty cuz this movie made this song and the rest of the music live.. EDDIE LIVES!

  • Movie totally rocked and this song's badass!

  • Eddie and the Cruisers bombed at the box office. When the soundtrack came out it flew off of the shelves. It was decided that a movie sequel " Eddie and the Cruisers II; Eddie Lives "would be released, also with a soundtrack. There was a third album of songs that hadn't made it onto either movie. Also check out Small Town Girl and C-I-T-Y by John Cafferty. P.S. Both Cruiser movies are terrific. Check out Michael Pare as well. He has made a scad of decent movies.

  • Actually, you're half right. The movie did indeed tank at the box office; however it gained its incredible popularity when it was released on cable in 84. The soundtrack resultantly flew off the record store shelves as did the VHS. I myself was blown away by this gem when it aired on HBO back in the day. Great story, and great tunes!!

  • me too

  • The person in all the pictures in the video name is Michael Paré he was also in eddie and the cruisers 2 and Streets of fire, Eddie and the the cruisers is a Fiction band ... the real band is John Cafferty and the beaver brown band . • year??

  • so damn cool

  • What is the name of the song after this one on the soundtrack?

  • Season in hell (fire suite) is what it says on my CD and LP Album :)

  • the album is a season in hell but the song is fire suite

  • @nukejohnnyo I know thats what i was wondering

  • @nukejohnnyo I believe this is the last song on the album...unless it is Dark Side Live...

  • @nukejohnnyo It's all one long song...the other part of the song apparently seems to be cut off. That sucks

  • @nukejohnnyo i do believe that is the last song on the sound track

  • @nukejohnnyo i do believe that this is the last song on the sound track

  • @nukejohnnyo i do believe that this is the last song on the sound track.

  • @nukejohnnyo it's season in hell

  • this just the a side to the song the b side is like more optimistic

  • What are talking about? There's nothing pessimistic about the A side. It's talking about pure passion.

  • i have the original eddie and the cruisers soundtrack on cd, which has the full version of this song

  • so do I :)

  • @BelAirBritt Where can I get one?

  • Can you tell me what the words are?

  • See the writing on the wall, Ivory towers bound to fall, voices whisper in the wind, i can hear them calling, love is a fire, and I wanna burn. Darkest hour before the dawn , times we know will soon be gone

flames of freedom fill the air,

    I can hear them calling

Love is a fire, burning and I wanna burn!

  • kosova loves you forever eddie no metter that you have gone your musick lives in our hearts....sami

  • Thanks to John Cafferty & Micheal Pare for making such an iconic character..this is my favorite song on the whole album you need to post the full version (Fire Suite) completes the mood this song is Topps!!

  • What's the name of the song after this? On the record they kind of tie in together.

  • Season in hell (fire suite)

Thats what the record says anyway

  • SO MODERN from so long ago...

  • You're an idiot.

  • eddie wtf that john carrferty and the bevison band
