Obviously the fan boys jump on these, ive tried every gaming head set. If astros were actually true 5.1 surround sound head they'ed be probably the best head set out there but they only amplified, but through my trial and error the best head turned out to be HPA2 True 5.1 surround Turtle beach. Most fan boys can't tell difference between true 5.1 surround and simulated.

Thanks for the review, I bought my A40s right after watching this. They showed up yesterday, not sure now how I played without them!!!! One thing I really like is how silent they are when your in the lobby and nobody is talking. I tried all the Turtle Beach models and they all had a very loud hissing sound. These Astros absolutely rock!

Poor show Ken. This isn't a product review this is product placement. You never once went over any of the specs or did any spec comparisons against your X11s or P21s. I sure hope you got those things for free as some sort of a sponsorship or Christmas present from Machinima for being a director (obviously the people at Astro wouldn't give a shit if you phoned in an order and called yourself Ken Burton and they definitely wouldn't be making you custom Machinima plates either).
I hear every footstep and every sound with my p21's at the end of the day u can say a cheaper headset isnt as good but if your terrible at the game it doesnt matter what u have on your ears.. In black ops U can sound hoar if thats your thing with the p21's. I have never had a problem with the p21's.. I see NO NEED TO BUY THESE THINGS.. Ive seen your gameplay with blackops and if we dont see an improvement in your games we will all know how much of a waste these things really are....
Good review, but don't get wireless. They are more expensive, have the potential to not even work if near another powerful transmitter like a router, and the astro cable will give you better sound quality.
Personally I would rather spend $500 on a solid surround sound system so my whole family can enjoy TV, DVD's, and Xbox in crystal clear surround sound than a $250 on a set of headphones that only I can enjoy.
i agree that on MW2 i could hear every footstep and in which direction, but in blackops they adjusted the sound of footsteps to where you can barely hear them specificley for us sound whores. but overall they are amazing!!

If you want an advantage at call of duty then get some turtle beaches. If you want really good sound quality for a game with HDR audio like Bad Company 2, then get the Astros. If you want great sound for things other than the xbox (eg. pc, music) then get the Astros. The Astros are like a Mac, very expensive and should only be bought if used to their full potential on a regular basis.
wireless still isn't the way to for for sound (yet) you sacrifice a lot in quality for removing the wires unfortunately. they do look lovely though. Nice custom tags too! :)

The amount of parts and technology that goes into making an xbox and yet even that is cheaper than these two little speakers held onto your head. Astro's are just taking advantage of a large market with no competition. Sure they are amazing, I have no doubt about that but they can't justify the price. If I had a kid that asked for a 190 quid pair of headphones I would laugh in his little face.

Professional headphones from e.g. Sennheiser obvisibly have to be more expensive than normal 50 euro ones since the quality is good and developing isn't cheap either. I mean good headphones are not more expensive than 120 euros. I don't really care about gaming hardware... I mean usually they sell "bad products" for a lot more than they are actually worth and say it is for gaming.Those are just my 2 cents tho.

Am on Ps3 and seeing as NOBODY comunicates i would find it very hard to justify paying £190 for headphones. My lovely Sennheiser's which are about half rhe price of the Astro's and are great audio cans too are much better choice for spunking my money away.
Also stay away from the Trittons people. Mine broke on the first day and I called customer service immediately after and the customer service rep was a straight up punk. I wanted a replacement at first(don't know why) and I was forced to deal directly with Amazon because the dude wouldn't help me . Which in hindsight worked out way better anyway. I have heard many similar stories of the shitty build quality and horrendous customer service in my research buying a headset as well. Buyer beware.

I think those type of headphones are pointless, why spend SOOOOOO much money on them when all you can do is play games with them. For 180 pound you could get a set of Sennheiser wireless digital headphones and use them for many different applications.
i got mine back in august and use them for everything, movies, music, games, and watching youtube videos off my computer, and can listen to my mp3 in the headset while i play, and i sound whore the shit out everyone in every game.

If you want an advantage at call of duty then get some turtle beaches. If you want really good sound quality for a game with HDR audio like Bad Company 2, then get the Astros. If you want great sound for things other than the xbox (eg. pc, music) then get the Astros. The Astros are like a Mac, very expensive and should only be bought if used to their full potential on a regular basis.

wireless still isn't the way to for for sound (yet) you sacrifice a lot in quality for removing the wires unfortunately. they do look lovely though. Nice custom tags too! :)
i would like to try these and see the quality though...

Too be honest, i still can't believe people pay so much money for a headset for a console.
PC headsets are just so much cheaper and useful, even thought you can cannot use for console.

The amount of parts and technology that goes into making an xbox and yet even that is cheaper than these two little speakers held onto your head. Astro's are just taking advantage of a large market with no competition. Sure they are amazing, I have no doubt about that but they can't justify the price. If I had a kid that asked for a 190 quid pair of headphones I would laugh in his little face.

Professional headphones from e.g. Sennheiser obvisibly have to be more expensive than normal 50 euro ones since the quality is good and developing isn't cheap either. I mean good headphones are not more expensive than 120 euros. I don't really care about gaming hardware... I mean usually they sell "bad products" for a lot more than they are actually worth and say it is for gaming.Those are just my 2 cents tho.

razer has an xbox/pc compatible wirreless 5.1dolby headset (not out yet).
It is supposed to cost 120bucks and it's called razer chimaera
Still expensive but compared to the A40 i would rather pick the razer chimaera

@Schfifty12 I'm glad you aren't my dad then. I think they're definitely worth it. For a hobby I spend a lot of time doing, I think there's nothing wrong with spending this amount of money for a really high-quality headset that, hopefully, won't break within at least half a year after purchasing.

Am on Ps3 and seeing as NOBODY comunicates i would find it very hard to justify paying £190 for headphones. My lovely Sennheiser's which are about half rhe price of the Astro's and are great audio cans too are much better choice for spunking my money away.

Also stay away from the Trittons people. Mine broke on the first day and I called customer service immediately after and the customer service rep was a straight up punk. I wanted a replacement at first(don't know why) and I was forced to deal directly with Amazon because the dude wouldn't help me . Which in hindsight worked out way better anyway. I have heard many similar stories of the shitty build quality and horrendous customer service in my research buying a headset as well. Buyer beware.

I think those type of headphones are pointless, why spend SOOOOOO much money on them when all you can do is play games with them. For 180 pound you could get a set of Sennheiser wireless digital headphones and use them for many different applications.

i got mine back in august and use them for everything, movies, music, games, and watching youtube videos off my computer, and can listen to my mp3 in the headset while i play, and i sound whore the shit out everyone in every game.

@LozRiva well this is cheap compared to a 30sec advert on tv, and this targets their audience, so send some headphones that prob cost £20 to make and box to some guy who will go on about them like they make your dick grow another foot and sun shine out your arse and its a bargain
personally i dont need headphones, i just turn the volume up, its amazing how the ears work by picking up all the sounds, and saves me £200 too
