  • Zero dislikes. You're God damn right.

  • This song always makes me cry, because it reminds me of a soul brother, Jacky( die Hond) Jooste, in Cape Town, South Africa. Only Gladys can do justice to this here song. I am thankful to have grown up with this music. Andre MaQubu, South Africa

  • I love Gladys!

  • Awesome!

  • Most music today is crap.

    This is the real stuff.

  • @StaticTremor fucking right!!!!!

  • Gotta love those white stockings lol!

  • A TRUE legend.

  • I love it how the audience is in tune, unlike most white concerts, where it all sounds like incoherent nonsense. I'm white and even I can see that. This is amazing.

  • She's one of my all time favorate singers! She's the only one that can do so much with little range and it's mainly beause she puts so much soul and emotion in every single note! She's a legend and rightfully so!

  • @slimsxyblkwoman 'Little range'? Laughable just because Gladys has an alto voice doesn't mean she has little range at all she has a 'Husky' voice Gladys hts full notes better than anyone with power and range like none other You would be hard pressed to find another singer that can hit the notes like Gladys trust me she has extraodinary range from deep husky notes to a pure pitch perfect high alto soprano for instance Whitney Houston could never sing Glady's songs even in her prime.

  • @InfinityNebula You took what I said out of context. What I said she has little range- I am talking about octaves. Gladys cannot go from below middle C and hit 5 octave saprano ranges from there (many associate hitting low and higher octave ranges as powerful singers). Although that maybe - she manages to do a lot with what she has because she has massive range in dept and soul. That's my point - I am by no means dissing her. I am giving her props!

  • @slimsxyblkwoman Bottom line here is this-Gladys has the best soul voice of all time for a female Aretha Can't touch Gladys even in her prime trust and believe Gladys has much more range than you give her credit for check her early performances of If I were Your Woman and others. Don't let her husky heavy alto fool you Aretha nor Whitney could ever sing any of Glady's songs

    Peace!

  • still singin like this/same voice and range as when I was a teenager. Brilliant, a class act.

  • The Best Soul Singer ever!!!!

  • i wonder what she was laughing at lol

  • MRS GLADYS YOU BETTA SING OMG I LOVE THIS PERFORMANCE YOU ARE SO AWESOME GOD BLESS YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Gladys is so amazing! What a talented singer!!

  • This is my all-time No.1 song and Mama G is STILL rocking it! Whoo Whoo!

  • lol, the white girl at 2:36 says "beep beep" instead of "whoo whoo" come on girl, you are making us look bad, you cant do that to this classic. lol

  • @TheSinger1004 ive watched this vid hundreds of times and never noticed that hahahaha

  • @TheSinger1004 -That is so cute...the sister was not too sure but she sure as hell was going to make Some kinda train noise!

  • @TheSinger1004 when was this performance she did a great job

  • @TheSinger1004 lol.. you did have to notice didn't you? now I have to rewind it two.. three more times. haha

  • @TheSinger1004 She was feeling it and was on some improv. That's what happens when you have a little soul.

  • @TheSinger1004 aHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHHAHAHAHIKKIKIKIKIKI you stupid. I laughed some when I saw that. Maybe she was taking the Midnight Voltswagon Beetle to Georgia.

  • Im so glad I grew up when I did, music today cannot compare to this, Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, Al Green, brilliant

  • legendary voice, love it

  • this is what young singers should aim for....i would have loved to be in that audience

  • One of my late dad's favorite singers. Thanks for the upload :)

  • OMFG !!!! I was there in the Audience !!! in Bermuda Sinbad soul festival !!!!

Gladys came out last and every one in the Audience kept saying where's Gladys.

They made it like the show was coming to the END. And we all were disappointed

Most of us were there primary for The Empress Gladys..A voice so powerful live that it vibrated my chest. Jus AMAZING

  • All Hail The Empress Of Soul! :)

  • UNFUCKINGREAL! WOW!

  • WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Gladys, wow that voice girl

  • like i have always said out of all her peers, she is the only one where her voice has remained in tack strong if not stonger then it was in the start. hence look at Pattie Labelle she was and is awsome but she has lost some her voice which she is big for but not Empress of soul. and it is so sad we have this so called stars and celebs. this is real

  • @rysim1984

You know who really lost her voice and its a shame its Aretha

  • Almost 40 years later and in the same key! That woman was born to sing ...

  • Love it.

  • Fantastic !!!!!!!!!
