@StudioVibe your not good with gerbils i geuss because aspen is good for them i have 2 gerbils that been in aspen for 2 and 1 have years and nothing is wrong and ASPEN IS GOOD FOR GERBILS
People Miscalculate all the time!!! Pine will not harm your gerbils!!! i have 2 gerbils both 8 months old. They use pine!!!!! it dosent hurt them! its a dirty myth!!!!!!
@MrGangsta1550 ya but it's all right that's bad for girbles backs buy a bin and fill it half way with hay that should be enough exterzie they love to barrow
Well i got all of that but theres just one problem...my gerbils cannot run in the wheel its big enough for them but they still dont wanna run in it.they are soon 8 months old and im just asking if its to late to teach them how to run or want to run in it or if its too late plz answer i need help with this!!!
I've just got two Gerbils. Both male brothers! The store put their water in a dish but ive got the water bottle they dont semm to be using it. Plus the pet store only had cedar/pine so I got that its says it for gerbils, bunnys, hamsters and samll animals. Will this kill my gerbil :S
isn't 2-3 inches bedding not enough? in a lot of videos the people use 6-7 inches so that the gerbils can dig............how much bedding now? pls help
@sonbombe89 I would say you should have AT LEAST 4 inches but the more bedding, the happier your gerbils will be! It's in their nature to dig a lot and it's good exercise for them. My gerbils have ca 8 inches of bedding when it's pressed down (making the gerbils work harder to dig in it).
Wow, an actually CORRECT video on gerbils. (: So much better than that "expertvillage" shit. If anyone wants to know about gerbils, listen to this video.
Yes, their tails do come off, it does because mother nature made them a built in safety device. In other words when a snake comes along in the wild and grabs a gerbil by it tail the gerbil will un-attach it and run off. So please, do not pick them up by their tails :)
This a cute care video for gerbils! Though I do believe you are not supposed to give them lettuce and it would be better if tank cleaning was mentioned.
if your using this as a guide for guinea pigs, buying an excercise wheel or ball will waste money since their backs don't bend that way. also don't try and make them run in it you could seriously hurt there backs
@999663isback yes it does, I used to have a gerbil, (I am probably getting another today) and my gerbils name was Scrambler. my sister kylee was playing with him and he fell and got underneath the couch coushins (sp?) and she went to pick him up. when she brought her hand up all she saw was the tip of the tail in her hand and a bit of blood. so the answer of your question is yes, it can.
@999663isback Yea, when I was little I learned that the hard way, one of our girbils got out, and it was running straight at an area that, if it got too, there was no way we would ever get him out. So I made a mad dive, missed him, accidentally grabbed the tip of his tail, and the skin popped right off. :'(
I felt so bad after that, I would rarely handle him. D=
@999663isback Yup, that's why if you have a ball for them to run around in, you have to be careful incase the breathing holes are too big. Then the Gerbil's tail could get caught in it, and ripped off. ='( I know it sounds gory but it''s true. Hopefully it will never happen to my Gerbils.
@999663isback yup.... just like lizards they do it in case a depredator gets them caught by the tail so they can get away while the depredator is distracted with the tail :P
my gerbil bit me, I put it in the bush behind my house (that lines the creek) it wouldnt run out so I dumped it and it rolled into the creek where it was quickly devoured by the hungry fish waiting below... (there were tons of guppys and minnows, they will eat anything lol)
sick, inhumain person. My rat bit me, so i didnt just leave it somwhere, I took it back to the pet store. Wow, animals must hate you, no wonder the gerbil bit you...
Picking a gerbil up by the tail, but only near the end where its close to its body, was voted the safest was to pick one up. It's not painful to them, if you're doing it right the tail shouldnt come off, and it's easiar to keep hold of them so they dont run off.
Just dont continuously hold them by the tail or itll get sore.
Plz make a video on hamster care. From my "studies" I found out that there are only 3 GOOD hamster care videos.
