  • how long did it take to collect all that sap? Also, how long before you tap the tree do you need to biol it? Can you collect the sap for a few weeks before you boil?

  • @Grovage I am able to collect about 1/2 gallon per day per tree depending on the weather and the season is about six weeks long. I boil each week (on the weekends) and boil about 8-12 gallons. The sap can be stored for 1-2 weeks in a cold area or in the refrigerator. It is sugar water and can ferment. Store in a clean container with minimal surface area exposed to the air. I use the empty gallon water jugs and try to fill them to the top.

  • canadians are so lucky.

  • I had the same idea of using a turkey fryer. I made a couple gallons of syrup last year and i was wondering how much propane you used and is it a good boiler

  • yes- you can drink the sap, however it tastes like water with a hint of sugar. Note that approximately 40 gallons of tree sap boil down to about 1 gallon of syrup, so the concentration of sugar in the tree sap is small

  • CAN U DRINK IT STRAIGHT FROM THE TRE?
