  • What causes the "ghost trail" effect on the IR videos? Is it something "real," or just an artifact of the camera?

  • @GetMeThere1

A sliding CB creates friction, which generates heat at the contact point with the cloth. Heated areas show up well with an IR camera.

  • Name´of this song? :)

  • Click on the video description ... it is there.

  • if i chalk the cue and let some of the chalk powder falling the cue ball then will it help increasing the friction caused between the cue ball and the table's surface when hitting?

  • The chalk dust is very fine and tends to settle into and beneath the cloth; but if the cloth isn't cleaned very often, the build up of chalk dust and dirt can have an effect on cloth friction.

  • waw.. so great and lovely

  • ... with cool music too!

  • dr.dace,

why use a blue chalk on the pole nose to hit the ball,,,

what is a blue chalk for

  • If you hit the cue ball (CB) off center with no chalk, the tip slides off and the CB deflects to the side (i.e., it doesn't go straight). This is called a miscue. The chalk helps the cue tip grab the CB during contact.

  • Hey Dave, quick question. I put a new tip on my cue and when it made contact with the superglue it soaked some of it up. Now my tip is rock solid, will this increase miscue chance? If yes can you make a video on how to glue a new tip to a cue without it soaking up the glue? Thanks in advance :)

  • As long as the tip holds chalk and you don't mind the firmer "hit," it should be fine. I don't have lots of experience with cue repair, so I'm not the best person to post a video for applying tips.

    Dr. Dave

  • alright, thanks for that and keep up the good videos! :)

  • that was sooooooo cool!

  • AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Transcendental

    ENJOY.

  • 1:15-1:19 Was that best shot I've ever seen. How did you do that? Did you have the camcorder on a track on the side? Or did you zoom out or what?

  • The camera was slid by hand along the rail.

  • Smooth as a surgeon my friend.

  • I wish I could take credit, but this clip was done by the Austrian group, per the link in the video description.

    Dr. Dave

  • absolutely fascinating video. does anyone know this song?

  • FYI, I've added the song info to the video description.

    Dr. Dave

  • Hi, Do you know which is the name of the song?

  • I think the music was written and performed by some Austrian dudes. In the video description, I have a link to the Austrian group that produced the video. They might know more.

    Dr. Dave

    Dr. Dave

  • Aww man this song is hot. What's the name of it?

  • The music was done by an Austrian dude. I have link to the Austrian author website in the "About the Video," but if you don't read Austrian, it might be tough to find the info you want.

    Dr. Dave

  • THAT WAS L33T @_@

  • what is the music being played? i like it

  • A URL is provided in the video description. Maybe you can find the details there.

  • I was stoked.

  • It must have been the music.

  • lol Owned.

  • omfg... that's so cool@

  • awesome *_*

  • nice

  • If you're wondering why the balls cool down when moving forward it's because there is some thermal energy loss when the ball is moving.

  • If you have interested, please try to do high-speed photography of knife throwing by "NO-Spin",sometime.

I am interested very much personally.

There is a person named "Mr. Ralph Thorn" in America, and his knife throwing does "not turn" almost.

He publishes book and DVD,and He is expert of knife throwing.

I think, if was able to film the picture, it is splendid recorded of high-speed photography.

  • Fantastic video, with some quality shots. And DancingSpiderman, you've clearly never heard of 3 cushion billiards! Perhaps you should look it up before posting any more hilariously ignorant comments. Did the lack of pockets on that table not give you a clue lol

  • the pool table's DEFECTIVE... send it back to the store and git yer money back!!

  • dancing spiderman, are you 12?

the IR shot qualifies as a scientific viewing, Celsius is plenty appropriate, and you sir dont know the RULZ of the game, as there is more games than you viewed at your granpa's house pool table

  • wow, very cool! the infrared added a new perspective too... nice one :)

  • the "colored ball" as you put it, is actually a cue ball.

  • C is used in most parts of the world and in sciences. learn it.

  • Degrees C is an acceptable measure, not everyone uses F.

And whether or not this is an actual GAME being shown, as long as one ball is being hit by another, it still gets the idea across. WHO CARES whether or not it's a cue ball? It's a really neat video.

  • Yes, it IS a very cool video. I like it.

The proglem with the Degrees C scale of temperature measurement is, everybody, tell whether I'm right or wrong about this... EVERY TEMPERATURE SOUNDS COLD. 25 degrees C sounds cold. How do you discern between 20 degrees C and say, 30 degrees C? They BOTH SOUND COLD. Now, the Fahrenheit scale spreads the numbers out in a much more discernable INTUITIVE sense. But then I'm just another stupid Merkin (American).

  • That is the dumbest thing i have ever heard. many Europeans like us use C and we can tell the difference between 25 degrees and 30. u just have to adjust...

  • cool
