Hey is it recommended to use a Polypore staff instead? Its alot cheaper and it doesn't need to be autocasted or anything, plus, it actually hits amazingly with no mage gear.

Honestly I think I used the boat before I did the quest. I'm pretty sure the ladder you need the quest though. And they made it so you can't go through the seaweed crap anymore...
