  • Hi, great playing! I'm trying to learn this - possibly a stupid question, in which case I apologise in advance, but it seems you've capoed at 2 but tuned strings 1-4 down 2 tones, so that in effect the banjo is just tuned to open G as normal. Is there any advantage in doing so? Just making fingering easier?

  • @Gallywomack I'm tuned in standard G tuning capoed at 2nd fret. This makes the song in the key of A. I try to learn most tunes in A or D as these are common keys for fiddlers.

  • @josborne26 Thanks! Sorry, I was being stoopid, for some reason my banjo was tuned a tone high so I've been playing in A for ages anyway without realising it. On the plus side, I've found it plays easier capoed at 2 (has lowered the action a bit) so I might just keep it there...

  • Very GOOD! My compliments to anyone that can make use of the 5th string as it has always seemed to just be in the way to me.

    Again, very good.

  • Solid and clear as usual. Your videos are a joy to learn tunes from. Thanks.

  • very nicely done!

  • LOVE this version - are their tabs available for this?

  • Thanks for the comment damiancasey. I didn't use tab for this. It's pretty simple to play, though, I'm sure you can learn it by watching the video a few times.

    Thanks again, Jeff

  • Thank-you for the comment mei523. Sally Ann is the name of a girl, and she is the object of someones affection. Here are some of the words:

O where are you going Sally Anne (x3)

I'm going to the wedding, Sally Anne.

    ***

O shake that little foot, Sally Anne (x3)

You're a pretty good dancer, Sally Anne.

  • oh i see. well, i am Japanese and lived in canada for two years. and my american canadian boyfriend gave me the name Sally Ann as my EN name. the reason he gave me the one is because usually JP cant pronounce "L" sound well lol. Anyways, i didnt think about meaning of Sally Ann, but i was just curious when i found so much "Sally Ann" with beautiful music on Youtube.

    now i got it.

thank you very much for your reply.

  • Nice Sound and good playing. Those Chuck Lee banjos sound mighty fine. I assume there's no metal tone ring in it.

  • Thanks and yes the banjo has a whyte laydie tone ring.

  • Excellent!

  • Another good one....
