One of my favorites by him. What's even better about it is that Phil Collins is doing the drumming. Great talent all around in this song. Rock on, Eric and Phil! :)
@SRTST51 I agree completely. In The Mood?,Hell Yes! good tune.Phil has worked w/many artists over the years,i believe he did the drum work on Howard Jones "no one is to blame"? guess you have to listen to the toms.
sounds so different from the live version, I much prefer the faster tempo and the raw live sound but listening to this, I get that ending with the whistling and the military drumming... war not peace with this guy and his dame I guess
I saw Clapton [1 of many times] durimg his "Behind The Sun" tour --- I have been a fanatic since the late 60s .... Yes I know; I started late!-- There are guitar legends [dead and alive ] and then there is Clapton ---Thanks for posting
@neffada53 yes... You are right ... We are fortunate!!! ---like Michaelangelo , Horowiitz , Caruso and even Mr, Moon--- Yes ,I like classical music, and moreover, all GOOD music [and musicians]
Oh damn, everytime I hear this song, I wish that someone might come up and please my (little younger) generation with that kind of powerfull, undestructable music.
Luckily Mr. C still pleases us with his godlike music. Couldn't be without it!!!
In reply to SRTST51, totally agree, there will never be another like EC. Got every album he's ever made inc Delaney and Bonnie, Derek and the Dominoes etc. Been following him since 1966 with the Yardbirds, saw him with Jack and Ginger as Cream, and at the RAH 10 years running, he is God!
watch the live aid perfromance of this video for one of the best LIVE performances done! The 10 minute version with "white room" being the first song, then "shes waiting" at about 5:20> a GREAT performance.
first heard clapton in 69 pulled me in and kept me for all these years. seen him 18 times live including the cream reunion and winwood reunion can`t wait for the next
I listened to the top 50 of 2010 today and found nothing even close to early or current Clapton. I believe there will another music revolution as there has been in the past. Most of you won't remember Sinatra or the Big Band era but every generation finds their musical hero. We will keep Clapton until death (I'm talking about mine) and I don't mean his. Long live Eric Clapton
I remember hearing this song on a Miami Vice episode and thought it was cool. It was also a song playing on the radio when I asked one of my girlfriends out in college. One of my favorite Clapton songs.
Think there will be someone like this on one of the televised talent shows of late? Someone who can sing, as well as being one of the greatest guitar players ever? Im still WAITING.
@SRTST51 Don't wait too long....... the ONLY singer in the Rock-n-Roll hall of fame 3 times......... Three different groups; Solo, Cream, and I believe the Yardbirds..............
@SRTST51 I have my doubts, at least for anytime relatively soon from now on. The "mainstream" eras of then and now are so markedly different from one each other that it is rather tough to swallow what, by and large, is predominantly "mainstream" in today's era...
@SRTST51 Well said! I've never subscribed to this "talent" show rubbish because they are not discovering real talent, just pretty faces that will sell records for five minutes and then disappear only to be replaced by another equally forgettable wannabe. Artists like Clapton will be remembered forever because they have REAL talent and were not manufactured karaoke pretenders.
@jacex21 There is no doubt about it... He is the GREATEST GUITAR PLAYER, ever!!
