@knr817 I would get her a glass water bottle since they can't chew it up and put her food in a dish but that is because some mice like mine don't drink from bowls and she hates to get her whiskers wet.
Its not that small for a mouse- but yeh i think i'd get him something bigger.
- but you should only group house FEMALE mice
Mile mile don't like other males (unless they are gay mice i guess but youd have to make sure they were both gay and i'm not sure where you get gay mice from)
im going to get a mice so im not getting a wired wheel now. The store i go to has wired wheels for the mice in the cage but they dont get hurt but they still could. The companies who sell the wired wheels dont care. They just want the money as they're being jerks.
For hamsters. While they're not really recommended, I've had syrians with wire wheels (before I really knew that you shouldn't get them) and they've never had much of a problem. But solid wheels seem to be way quieter anyway.
because wire wheels are cheaper and large companies don't care. As long as they make profit the animals don't matter. Its unfortunate but thats how it is
It's really unfortunate because the first time I had a mouse I bought it a wire wheel like the one they had in their cage at the store. The mouse got caught in it just barely and from then on was afraid to run on it. I bought it three new wheels that were non-wire but he refused to run on any of them for very long. :( He died while I was away from home. I have two mice now and am glad I got the right one this time. I wish they told you these things at the store.
@7anya The reason they don;t tell you that at the store, is cuz they don't know that. Pet stores are NOT a good place to get a pet. DON'T buy a pet at the pet store! Adopt a pet at a shelter, or responsible breeder.
@7anya If you live in Minnesota I work at a shelter that takes in mice ^-^ we have an unwatned litter that came in this month and most of the babies still need homes. Also The Fun Mouse forum is a must go place, they have breeders from all over the world on the forum and even organize ways to get your mouse to you ^-^ Hope that helps you hun.

the title said HOW to set up a mouse cage, not what you need in a cage with a mouse.

wire wheels are ok but there is a small chance of them hurting themselves were as solid have an even smaller chance

#1: That cage is RIDICULOUSLY small.
#2: That mouse is on it's own, they should be kept in pairs as they are highly sociable.
#3: They can have wire wheels.
Honestly, These people know NOTHING!

@VeritiBeauty True that... but then again they still sell Ceder and pine beddings. :/

same reason they sell wheat-based dog foods that shorten dogs' lives by several years. business thrives on ignorance

Yes indeed, but I still haven't found anyone who breeds mice. Or even a shelter that carries them.
