@invisible0tom Great to hear! I don't experiment with fluids much (I'm more of a Cycles man), but I think you've convinced me to give it more attention :-P
@SGPMPSGA I do see what you mean but if i was only going to work with the 400 res instead of all six I could set up a situation where it looks a lot more realistic
i have the Intel® Core™ i5-2540M Processor (3M Cache, 2.60 GHz) its ok but tends to lag so im not sure how ill go im actualy baking something at this moment
3.2 GHZ you gotta be joking! thats as fast as an xBox 360!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! woah dude i wish i knew you, My computer is sad now... it's old slow, and 1.00GHZ... I know it's terrible, But i got it for free sooooo, kinda good
@mrchaoslama You can't really compare two different processors by their clock rate alone. In this case, the processor used by the 360 is using older technology and has much lower performance output per Ghz when compared to the processor used to simulate these fluids.
they were all rendered in yafaray if thats what you mean.
or if you mean fluid settings the resolution is above the clip and i set the END to about 1.1 (if you havent changed the domain size) to make it as fast as real water to stop all the slo-motion sims you see on youtube
@realflow100 changing the framerate isn't the best way to change a fluids speed as to equal an END of 1.1 the framerate would have to be 60fps which not be a very practical framerate to work with- large files and such.
I really liked how you have the resolution number beside each of them. Very informative! I love this!

You'll be happy to hear that Blender 2.60+ will use OpenMP for multithreaded fluid and cloth simulations. Great work with the video too.

@jamwaffles YES!!! finally I'll give it a go
invisible0tom 3 months ago
@jamwaffles you are certainly right it takes about a quarter of the time it used to baking fluids :)
200 res just took about 2 minutes!

This has been bugging me like crazy. How do you have a polygon constantly emit liquid for a certain time period?

.... You actually need to crank it up to atleast 200 in order for it to look good... Thats so weak :O

@invisible0tom How do I make the water transparent?
MintMax999TV 11 months ago
@MintMax999TV in yafaray set the material to glass
in the default renderer turn on Ray Transp then give it a IOR of 1.33 (water) then turn down the A (alpha) to 0 at the bottom of the material tab.
invisible0tom 11 months ago
@invisible0tom Thanks, by the way nice videos you have, I'll subscribe to you. :-)
MintMax999TV 11 months ago
Would be amazing if you rendered that last shot with a semi-transparent consistency, mudlike.

@realflow100 it shouldn't work with more than 3GB of RAM if you have a 32bit OS but if it does then it must be something to do with blender.
if you still have a problem can you pm me with the full question because the video page is getting full of our little questions.

@realflow100 If you have a 32bit OS you cant use any more than 3GB of RAM.
Try the newer blender versions for much faster fluid baking.
I thought you said you couldn't go above 200? now your saying you can go to 400.
To smooth a fluid don't use subsurf, use- set smooth, which is in the bottom left corner of the Editing (F9) panel.

@realflow100 the error means you have run out of memory.
you either need to close some memory heavy programs to free up some for blender or you need more memory and 64bit OS to use more than 3GB.
i would recommend at least 4GB
invisible0tom 1 year ago
the last sequence looks totally awesome. how did you do these green glowing spheres? with enabled mesh light?
wow! a fluid res of 400. my athlon X2 with only 2x 2.41GHz would take years to bake...and render.
eisb0r 1 year ago
@eisb0r thanks,
yes the spheres had mesh light enabled.
my old pc could only do 200 res now i can do up to 550 but that takes ages even for me. 400 takes about 6 hours for 250 frames!
