I don't know which one of the two intros got my blood pumping more, the original or this one. Well I suppose this one gives me more of an adrenaline rush what with the music during the preview part but the original gives me more of a chill because of the solemn tone of Shatner's pre-theme announcement. And the theme music. I just listened to it again a few minutes ago. Major, bigtime goosebumps!

@DorvellTStewart I read somewhere that this show was actually cheap to produce compared to dramas and sitcoms. The stunts may have been expensive to do, but I'm thinking segments with chokings, baby deliveries, people hiding from burglars, etc. were relatively cheap to produce.

Does anyone know what episodes the car crash (@:48) and the "there's a bomb" (@:59) come from? I watched Rescue 911 extensively when I was younger, and don't have any recollection of these--nor have I seen them uploaded.

There was no segment that showed the car crash at 0:48. I think that may have been a clip from documentary segment that they decided not to use. At 0:59, they're saying "Put the gun down". That's an outtake from the Miami Cops documentary segment that aired on Episode 108.

Did the other rescue 911 intros during the 6th and 7th seasons always start by previewing the first, second, and third segments? Or was it just three random segments from that night's particular episode?

No, it was three random segments, but I think they usually previewed the first, third, and fourth segments. I can't think of any where they didn't preview the first or third segments, though (except for five story episodes).

For 623 they previewed slide strangle, bathtub baby burn, and window fall rescue. For 714 I remember they previewed frozen kid and school bus rescue, but I can't remember the other one. It was probably the kneeboarding segment.

Most of the ones I have don't have intros because a lot of the tapes have the intros cut off. I don't remember them ever including a docu segment in the opening previews.

Mary Hardwick quit directing after Season 3. Jim Milio was the director for Seasons 4-7, with a few season 4-6 episodes being directed by Ronnie Weinstock or Sheri Goldstein.

Since it's been over a decade since the last episode of Rescue 911 aired on CBS, I think that the time has come on bringing a newer Rescue 911 show to today's television. I mean there are a lot of different stories about 911 emergencies out there that people do share about, that could possibly be able to create a newer Rescue 911, if interested by many who love watching television. Even if they are similar stories to the reruns of Rescue 911 that aired from 1989-1996.

I remember when this show was sent on swedish TV, all though I live in norway we still get swedish channels and this was definatly a highlight!

I used to watch this show alot in fact Episode 222 Segement 1 inspired me to be a lifeguard but it was short lived and btw I forgot what the storyline about the Scuba Diving episode was but it was about a girl excitied about a dive site what went wrong with her while she was underwater and btw you should split the diving segments into 3 parts and add it.

Its been over ten years since I grew out of those seizures cased by the side effects of

ritalin for two weeks untell the docters took me off of them.

Besides the modified version of THIS opening, Shatner's intro when he was first seen on camera was also a bit different in the following ways:

1. He no longer said "I'm William Shatner."

2. He no longer said "Tonight on Rescue 911..."

The point is that after giving his opening lines on camera, he would jump right to his customary lead-in to the first story: "We begin on (in)...."

It's just the opening theme music, it doesn't have a name. It was made specifically for the show. I think it was done by Scott Reowe.

I think that Arnold Shapiro and his company Arnold Shapiro Productions should release Rescue 911 onto DVD and/or bring newer episodes of Rescue 911 onto CBS. I'm sure that William Shatner wouldn't mind returning to do his job as the narator for more up-to-date true stories of rescues.

Maybe they thought it would hook more viewers if they previewed most of the segments at the beginning. Also, it probably gave them more flexibility with the length of the episode, since the lengths of the previews could be adjusted.

you mean the flexibility of all the 4 segments.

Yes, like if the combined length of the segments was 10 seconds too short, they could increase the previews by 10 seconds to make up for it.

I think they declined after the start of the sixth season, but I don't know what they did during the seventh season.

I heard that although rescue 911's ratings increased again during the 7th season, Cbs still decided to cancel it. I wish they hadn't! That show was the life and soul of Tuesday night for me. I'm quite sure it moved to Thursday nights at a later time during the 7th season. That probably didn't help the ratings, LOL! What are your thoughts on that?

That probably didn't help, plus it went on hiatus from September 1995 until February of 1996, so some people probably thought it was cancelled and stopped looking out for it.

Well I think they already had the seventh season planned, but they postponed it until Febraury (with the expection of one episode that aired in September of 1995). They were airing a different show in Rescue 911's time slot in fall of 1995.

This introduction was only seen in the CBS airings of episodes. They replaced it with the original introduction when repeats aired on other channels.

1. the new intro is very exciting especially the "tonight on Rescue 9-1-1- quote" puts excitement to its viewers watching the program.

2. the new intro has newer music at the begining, but the old music is used at the end.
