This song is my fav song, not only from Kate's songs but over any other I have listened so far. I love THE FOG, what a piece of art, it gives me goosebumps/chills all over. LOVE YOU KATE!
@1860george Actually "The Man with the Child in his Eyes" was written around 1971, when she was only thirteen, and recorded in 1975, but released in 1978, just to put the record straight.
It's about trusting somebody when your not sure but love is telling you to follow your heart - like learning to swim for the first time, you won't drown.
Starting to realise The Sensual World was an under-rated album. Mostly, it stands up well, and this is exquisite. We think we wait too long for Kate to release music... yet, she's still often waiting for the public's appreciation to catch up with her.
The Sensual World is such a beautiful album, full of emotions and thoughtfulness (if that's a real word). I've begin to love it even more now, when becoming a few years older. I've been a fan since I was 15, The Sensual World have never sounded so "real" and it's easier to relate to the lyrics. Anyway.... everything she's done is BRILLIANT. Amazing. Genius. ART.
@snowmansid . I totally agree with ya. I love Kate and her music since I was a little boy and I still do. I even went to live in London (for 10 + years) to breath the same air, to be closer and, I did get to talk to the lady (sobs). The Fog is from my fav album and it is my fav song of all time. There is no other like her. Love ya Kate!
@kbaughan1 Kates music has been with me for over thirty years now covering my adult life. You can look into her work and find meaning for all of lifes moods and turn of the dice. Hope she can come up with more magic to reflect the passing of time and reflections of life we can all relate to.Talented is not even close to describing kate and her music.
@snowmansid Like you, she is a soundtrack of my life. Perhaps THE soundtrack of my life. No one comes close. This song embodies everything I admire about her: lyrics, musicianship, melody, arrangement . . . and love. No other artist makes you feel the kind of love she makes you feel. Slainte.
@Katefanforever Good for you. Don't take anyone's word for anything. Quick, too. There is not a "TOP 3." Sorry, but you made me think about it, and I cannot come up with an answer. There is no "Top 3," there is only Kate.
@tonyttt31 All good choices. Let's face it, she never recorded a bad song. "Heads We Dance;" "Cloudbusting;" There's a great live version of "James and the Cold Gun" here that I highly recommend. "Army Dreamers." Ah, like I said; it's near impossible for me to pick 3.
The dramatic strings in this remind me so much of John William's Memoirs of a Geisha score. So beautiful

I love the part when the strings just open up and engulf you. I sometimes listen to this song again and again.

I'm learning violin. This is the first non-taught song I'll learn to play. That's a promise.

@ArianaArmy9, it's about love transcending death:
Is this love big enough to watch over me?
Big enough to let go of me

@ArianaArmy9, and the male voice is of course her dad, or 'Dr. Bush' as he is credited.

@modifiedcontent You are quite correct.
