  • cool vid man, i just bought a MBA and learning OSX, you think you can do a new one for the current OS?

  • If you don't have hot corners set up, expose won't work, you have to hit F11 for tiger/F3 for Leopard & Snow Leopard

  • You are a good man. Thanks for uploading this tutorial, I've learnt a lot in a very short time and you are very articulate in the way you speak. It's great.

  • Would this still be a decent machine in today's terms? In the video, it looked pretty smooth running. I'd just be using it for my first mac, not professional apps.

  • I dont get how everybody praises OS X. I mean, Win7 is far better. For example, the UNIX kernel system, which OS X is built from, is far slower and so its made to cache all your previously open items in memory, and still takes a bit of time, while Windows is built from Monolithic and Hybrid and runs far faster no matter what. Additionally, 90% of media is made for Windows, meaning that almost all apps are windows compatible, and so users of OS X dont have many options, especially for Linux users

  • whats the system monitoring widget? I just bough a 13" MB pro

  • great video. I just bought that exact same Mac used off Ebay. Great to see it's pretty snappy through the OS :)

  • The Mac OSx looks like a nice OS... but I've become so fond of the aero theme in Windows 7!

  • a decent machine?? dude... 1.4ghz... 512ram and an 80gb hdd. thats a piece of shit.

  • @benpark89 - A few years ago when this video was posted, it *was* a decent machine. Computers have come a long way since then.

  • their were 2.8 gig core2 available in 2007 and mem was a;so in GB s .still good though, a mac has its own disadvantages

  • @fiveightandten he is really funny..thinks he knows a lot about computers without even checking the date of this video

  • @benparko89 Newb person alert.

  • I have to wait till my bday to get one.

  • only problem is i live in canada but i'll give it a try.

  • i would change to a mac but i don't have the $

  • Just search Macintosh in Google Shopping. I found a G5 iMac With 1GB of ram and a 120GB Hard Drive for $350.00 US!

  • Me too.

  • cool , i think ima change to mac os lol

  • I heard the new Windows Mega Machine is going to be called windows "HOST". It blows the competition out of the water boasting that it can host more viruses than any other computing maching. It even comes with one of those wonderful McAfee/Norton virus spawn programs that makes you think your computer is safe from intruders, however, it actually puts viruses on your machine for you, and a bundle of ACTIVE X goodies too.

  • its cool.. but really macs arent a working pc or a fun pc.. i personally enjoy my dell xps720 with quad core extreme processors at 3.1 ghz and dual 8800 gtx ultras and 4gb of ram.. macs dont support many games, and they crash more then my gateway 98 did. i think the os is a cool design and they have done great things. But vista got a bad name from really stupid people.. personally i will be buying windows 7 which can run crysis soley on a processor..

  • Im not being funny but have you ever used OS X? because from what i have read from your comment you don't sound like you do. Snow Leopard will be out this year and uses OpenCL which uses your graphics card as another processor, which will increase speed system-wide. Its also going to be able to support up to 16TB of RAM etc... Mac OS X beats Windows (any version) in speed, reliability, security on the same hardware.

  • Continuing from my last comment.

Have a look at Vista vs Leopard benchmarks, which leopard wins hands down. The new Snow Leopard beats Windows in gaming performance too. Not much is really going for Windows anymore. People are scared of change, and uses what they are used to, but 99% of people who uses both Windows and OS X side by side each day admit they think OS X is superior.

  • Please dont compare OS X with Vista. Vista is a FAIL of an OS and every M$ employee will tell you this. Just wait for Windows 7! I've been using OS X for a while now and i love it. Its a great OS to use and its very "pretty". But when it comes down to it i much prefer Windows.

  • Dude thanx!... Been a Mac user since 1985 and this is a great tutorial to send to my friends who are new to the Mac OS X. You should be getting money from Apple. ;-)

  • those are small speakers, but to be safe, you might want to move the computer away from the speaker... i don't know what side the hdd is on, but over time the magnet (s) in your speaker could cause damage especially to the hard drive over time

  • Cool stuff. Thanks for the tutorial and I would compliment you that this video is very helpful.

  • i want to but i dont have the money because im a kid

  • I want to buy one aswell and dont have the money neither and I'm an adult :(

  • you can get an eMac, which has very similar specs, cheaper..

  • This is a great tutorial. I knew everything you talked about, but for a newbie thinking about switching to a Mac, I would definitely refer them to this video.

  • I am seriously thinking of changing to MAC. Vista is driving me crazy.

  • Do it! :p

After spending many years on Windows, i finally made the "switch"

I picked up a MacBook Pro 2,5 GHz at the store today and it´s AMAZING!

PS! You can always install Windows on your Mac if you should get freaked out by OS X... ;-)

You have nothing to lose and all to earn!

  • Man I switched to Mac from years of using Windows (not even Vista, I'm talking about XP and prior versions) and god, I'm never gonna go back.

  • I am tired of Windows. I've been using it all my life and I'm tired of the random crashes, and the unresponsive and slow OS.

  • @Dr3boud try windows 7, i personally prefer it over mac os x :)

  • Does Control Alt Delete Work With Macs? I

Like To Be In Control If Something Wierd Happens.

  • Donfratell- The Mac equalivant to ctr+alt+del is COMMAND+OPTION+ESCAPE (the command key is the Apple key). You can also right click on the application icon in the dock and force quit from there.

You do have control when something weird happens, but in the entire time i've been using the 2 Macs I have, i've only had to use it once.

  • Well done! Very nice tutorial! Very Informative!

  • i'll change to macbook when i got the money XD

  • think the mac is the man!! i'm also thinking about changing to the imac, mac mini i don't know something...great i hope it is

  • Awesome, im also thinking about changin from winblows to mac, kind of tired of downloading drivers, and clic on allow, will watch the next videos :P

  • Nice tutorial

  • you can also use spotlight to work as an unistaller...search for an app you wanna delete and throw everything it finds about the app in the trash, then empty the trash

  • dude, i can't believe you put shit like limewire in your hard disk! :o

  • hmmm....Limewire rulez!!

  • ya if you wanna kill your comp with trojans!

  • fcommmisso... wats' wrong w/limewire? u mean because of PC viruses? They don't work on Macs. BTW... ACQUISITION was built with Limewire code, is cool also.

  • macs have viruses also.

  • that's urban myth...there are NO viruses.

  • Thanks for the tutorials, I am going to get the new iMac in a few moths, around Leopard time.

  • dude, can you please explain how u set the triggers for switching windows?

  • getting my macbook in a week can't wait. These tutorials helped thanks

  • If you hold the ctrl key and scroll your mouse it will zoom into where the mouse cursor is. Great for tutorial videos.

  • HEY THANKS! :D I been using macs for a while and i never knew about this action. ;D

  • thanks for the video. its helping me kill time till my Macbook Pro comes in the mail. Man, its killing me to wait. I'm tired of this slow, viruses, inefficient windows machine. time for Mac World. so thanks.

  • great video!!! i really like it... i was planning a switch and these videos really help...

  • You can see my HD video about macs (800x600) with more of 2 hours. And is funny. I only say that is a great video that you can enjoy have easy english titles and music and jokes :D is educative you can see good reasons to switch to mac

  • clear explanation, thumbs up!

  • I saw you had limewire on your mac, and asking everyone, would limewire mess up a macbook?? thanks!

  • No? Its the viruses that you were stupid enough to download that messed up your PC.

  • great video. If you want more videos about mac and switch to mac. Here you can find a big hd video :)

see in my profile and "HD VIDEO SWITCH TO MAC" to view instructions to download.

  • Great Video! 5 Stars!

  • which one is better ubuntu or mac.

  • May i FAINT??!

OF course MACINTOSH is sooooo much better!!!!!!!

  • Ubuntu.

  • Mac is better. Linux in general is best for geeks who want complete freedom in their operating system, and Ubuntu is for reluctant Windows users (because its more secure and stable, etc.). If you can get a Mac, get it, though theres still no reason why not to just download Ubuntu to play around with it :)

  • Hold down the shift key while you do any kind of animation on the Mac (like minimizing, expose, dashboard, etc.). It will give you quite a show!

  • These are excellent videos. I'm a windows user thinking about switching to Mac and these are very useful as they actually show what it's like to use the OS.

I was just wondering if you could explain the difference between minimising and closing a window. From your video it seemed that both sent the window down to the dash.

  • Minimizing a window leaves it intact and sends it to the dock, where it stays as a tiny version of itself. Note that it's separate from the icon for its associated application in the dock. Closing a window does just that, closes it. But...the application will remain running.

The 3rd option is to "quit" an application. This will both close the open windows and quit the application itself. Sorry for any confusion, hope that helps.

  • Ah I see. I understand now, thanks.

  • Very informative. 5'ed.

  • so you cant dual boot?

  • Correct...Can not dual boot. Only the machines with Intel processors are able to run Boot Camp. Mine happens to be an early 2005 model, Power PC processor, not Intel.

  • you can still manage you're way into dual booting with Power PC processors...it just won't be as stable, since the processor is not as powerful. On the upside, Power PC processors do not overheat as easily as intel processors because the intel chips require a lot more energy! =p

  • Thanks for the replies. I posted another up just now for anyone interested. GiR2007, as requested, it's on working with files.

  • Very nice video you made there, would love for you to make another one :).

  • good tutorial.. I'd like to know how it deals with files, like, the quivalent of windows explorer

  • Thanks for the video. =) If you learn more its cool if you show it =) well done! Its awsome to see for me as a switcher
