  • I'm trying to purchase the sheet for me, but it doesn't have PayPal. Could you send it to me? Thank you.

  • WOW! I've been playing guitar for 3 years and thought it was about time I started to get familiar with celtic guitar (I'm a third generation Irish American). This was just too beautiful, I am inspired. Thanks for your post!

  • what tuning is this

  • Your playing is beautiful, but I was just as impressed with the sound on this video. How did you get this sound just sitting in front of your computer (I assume)? It's phenomenal. I've been trying to mix some Celtic guitar styles with North African influences. Nowhere as nuanced as your playing, but check "Rosetta West - Yallah," if you can.

  • sweet tone =)

  • OMG, What is that a chair :?? How do you do that ?? Guitars are made of chairs. No they're not dumb ass. Yes they are. I watch TV.

  • if you liked this check out my fingerstyle guitar

  • how can i get the tabs?????????

  • The wold needs to hear you. Just wonderful.

  • Beautiful. Very tenderly played. Thank you.

  • Now that I am thinking about it, I wonder what it was like, Was there a lament for his first wife? I wonder what she was like. The only known melody of his obsession for his second wife, I'm going through that now. The first wife thing eh...

  • Bernard brings so much tenderness to this great eighteenth century lament that it almost makes me hurt. If only Niel Gow could hear it!

  • What a mournfully beautiful piece played with such skill! Thank you one and all involved in this.

  • What is that device you put down at the beginning of the video?

  • very talented! Thanks for sharing.

  • @systemaudio57 It's probably DADGAD, alot of celtic music is in that tuning. Hope that helps!

  • i wish i could play like you hehe, maybe you should post a video about how to play some celtic on the guitar hehe, well if you do or not thanks anyway

  • I was wondering what the tuning is for this song .

I thought it was drop D but there seems to be something missing.

    Thanks

  • Magic :D

  • Excellent interpretation, bravo!

  • totaly love it!!

  • Beautiful !

  • As beautiful as it always is!

    Thanks, Bernard.

Today is 23:40 hours when I listen to it.

  • Gracias por tu talento.

  • Is that an electric acoustic with nylon strings?? Im a bit confused due to the reverb or was that added afterwards??

  • @MWRiff I'm confused as well - that guitar looks more Spanish than Celtic - I suppose an electric guitar with the plug pulled out would an electric acoustic!

Joking aside, that is a beautiful piece of musicianship.

  • Heard many variations of this music, this is really soulfully played, thanks for posting!

    Harry

  • I have tears in my eyes thank you

  • Really beautiful arrangement and very nice touch

  • You have a beautiful touch. Glad I stumbled over this.

  • Hey ! My guitar ! :o)

  • Very nice. I play this tune on a big chromatic D Harmonica. Have not posted it. I am a song writer who also plays a lot of traditional music. On You Tube it's at Johncostermusic > channel. This tune is not there, just a few songs and one trad medley.on guitar and harp. More soon. Your coda is nice, also as a break, during the piece, not anything I've seen in the written music.Lovely playing. JC

  • I was introduced to this song by my guitar instructor (Carl Lotsberg) back in the day... I love it is played in this video. The guitar speaks.

  • The first time I heard this song was on David Russel's cd, I was blown away by the sincerity, and emotion he played it in. I listened to him play it at least 10 more times after that. I've heard it twice by different artists, and can honestly there versions don't even come as near as great as your version and david russel's version both are splendid.

  • so lovely sound, sad and a little lonely, what's a Zomm H4 + Reverb by the way? some kind of pick up?

  • ... beautiful... that tune may reach the sky...

  • where can have the TAB's ? or buy ?!

  • Simply Beautiful,

Bernard is a guitar magician for sure !

  • Nice man! Just....I dont know what to say! :/

Written by Scottish fiddler Neil Gow. Composed after the passing of his second wife, Margaret Urquhart of Perth. They were married for 30 years.

  • I live in California, my Mother lives in Kansas. Last time I talked to her over the phone I had her listen to you Play this song. Of course she loved it. You are so talented and your guitar has amazing clarity. What brand is it & where can I get one? Thanks in advance.

    G.

  • I have just viewed quite a few videos of "Neil Gow's Lament for the Death of his Second Wife" and I've gotta say your's and Pete Clark's (on fiddle) performances are imho the most outstanding. Thank you for posting.

  • You might check Dwayne Cote playing the song as the beginning of a medley on here. Just search his name and medley. You should find. Pete is great, and so is this guitar version. Thanks for posting!
