Read the Hindu Vedas and other Sanskrit texts, there were weapons in ancient times WAY more powerful than anything from Sumer. I agree the Sumerians may have known about the American land, but to say that they had the greatest weapons is just plain hog wash. Parts of the Libyan desert for example. are still to this day covered in GLASS like material, that had to form from the sand being heated to a certain extent, most likely from great weapons. Entire cities show destruction from weaponry.

there's evidence that Vikings made it to the "new world" looong before columbus. there's evidence of Egyptian visitation in the southwest portion of the U.S.

evidence of visitation by African peoples in the gulf of Mexico.....

there was a proven caucasian skeleton found in a riverbed in washington state that even pre-dates all of the afore-mentioned.
