f1 fanatics please go away you nuckle heads are not part of this topic there are lot of place you can post your stupid comments and not here this is about "INDY vs NASCAR" get it ?..........
@KRT049 Weight influences acceleration mostly, it has very little to do with top speed. How fast do the Nascar series boys run at Texas Motor Speedway??? 196.235 MPH is the qualifying record for Nascar in 06, IRL had a practice lap at 236.678 MPH in 01. It's all about getting around the track the fastest and light weight is better. NASCAR truly needs to move along with the times and drop their bullshit antiquated cars. F1 is the only real form of racing that allows technology to be expanded!
I am lucky enough to live near California Speedway. Back in 2001 I got to see NASCAR and CART. CART was WAY better thsan the nascar race. Close racing and way faster. 73 lead changes! Whoever gets the lead in Nascar has all the downforce at California and there are no changes for posistion.
@NASCAR0125 Try doing that at a non restrictor plate race. Like I mentioned, it was at California Speedway. Nascar fucking blows there. No lead changes unless the leader has a bad pit stop or crashes. CART was doing 230+ mph while swapping posistions the entire race.
Doesn't it tell u tht indy cars is so lame tht when an indy car driver goes over to nascar they suck but when they go back to indy car they do so much better.
@SuperBeastboy50 Did Tony Stewart suck when he left Indycar for NASCAR? As for Franchitt, he went from a top Indycar team to a midpack NASCAR team, only gave it one season to learn a whole different type of car from anything he raced before, then went back to a top Indycar team.
Indy cars r built for speed but no contact. U can't hit someone without sending them into the wall or catch fence. NASCAR'S stock cars r built so u can go fast ,not as fast as the Indy cars thought, but be able to hit each other without doing to much damage. NASCAR also allows closer finishes. I want to see Indy car beat .0002 of a second and do it twice like NASCAR did at Talladega this year and at Darlington in 2003
@SuperBeastboy50 If you go back 4 or 5 years, Indycar races were ending side by side all the time, including a race with the top three covered by .01 sec. It seems that it's really just the dominance of two teams that prevents that now.
@SuperBeastboy50 Make NASCAR quit throwing caution flags over every little thing to bunch up the field. Why can't they drive with a hotdog wrapper on the track??? DEBRIS CAUTION!!!!!!!!!
i prefer a thousand of times..."huge and heavy old cars, with old technologies" but enjoying the race, and NASCAR is this=adrenaline!...high technology only make bored races
A NASCAR whelen Modified car could eaisly go head to head with and indycar. Those modified are in a lower series than the sprint cup cars, but they are much faster with speeds up to 220 MPH which is around the same speed as an indycar, plus those modified have just about the same handleing, but slower acceleration. The sad thing is they don't race on track that would show their true potential! NASCAR needs to promote the modified series and put them on tracks like indianapolis or talledega!
@jaredsc18 They should tie that rope around your fucking neck and drag you down the road you fucking idiot!! This isn't a goddamn truck pull we're talking about, it's about SPEED. Nascar loses at that, and pulling tractors would drag that cup car all over the place if you want to insist on stupid comparisons!
NASCAR IS FOR THE DRUNKEN FAT, LAZY, IN-BRED WHITE TRASH AND ALL THAT FOLLOWS......... not to mention it's boring and the cars sound like loud droning farts
@GOMBPRODUXIONS oh and indycar is exciting? face the facts, nascar is the only motorsport america cares about. you can talk shit on it all day out of bitterness but i cant tell you the last time indycar was mentioned on sports center, maybe like 06? hah
@Canon39 More exciting than that snooze fest you call nascar. Of course nascar is more popular. It significantly got bigger when indy split up into IRL and Champ-car. There are also more drivers from America that run in Nascar than IRL and that's what America wants to see. IRL has a variety of foreign and American drivers. When it comes down to it, a lot of Americans want to see their own drivers. Their like "IF U DON LIKE AMERICUH, YALL KIN GIIITTTT OUT!!" hahaha
@GOMBPRODUXIONS indy used to be cool... back in the 80s and before when the drivers came out of midgets and sprints, thats where the real open wheel racing still exists these days, but sadly its dying. the fact is america's best drivers go to nascar, regardless of where they got their start (go karts, late models, sprints, midgets, formula cars, ect). all indy is these days is euro drivers who werent quite good enough to get a ride in f1, it just doesnt mean anything anymore.
@Canon39 I do agree that it's puttering along. Just watch some races on TV; all of the empty bleacher seats will tell you that they don't sell many tickets. I do also agree that it is people who weren't good enough to make it to F1, but F1 is another class of talent on it's own. I don't really agree that the best drivers go to Nascar, I think the majority do and probably because that's where all the money is. At the end of the day, I'd rather watch ALMS, IRL, or F1. Very very exciting to watch.
nascar drivers have more skill because they are closer together, just a few inches and going 200 mph. if an indy car did that they would need a few wreckers.
@Canon39 Nascar is a fucking joke, Yeah 7/9 Indy tracks are oval, but they actually go fast around the fucking Oval. Nascar is sedans that handle like a fucking boat, they have FAKE FUCKING headlights, and still use fucking carburetors.
@SecularTechnology and indy has been running the same car for a decade... nascar's deal is that they keep it all mechanical, no electronics because it makes it all about geometry, driving skill, and math, not computers. nascar is clearly not state of the art technology, nor does it claim to be. whereas indy is watching decades old technology pretending to be modern technology. dont expect anyone to give a damn about indy next year just because of the new car, the racing will still suck.
No Nascar will still suck. "They keep it all mechanical." No wonder it sucks so much ass. Nascar is the older damn technnology. You can find videos of exotic cars going around the track quicker than a Nascar. Indy isn't about using computers, it's about aerodynaics, and engine power. It's about getting aroudn the track as fast as possible while still having a close race.
@SecularTechnology hey man whatever floats your boat... personally im a fan of all racing im just not afraid of the undeniable fact that nascar is the only motorsport anyone cares about in the us. you sound bitter and frusterated.
@SecularTechnology Aerodynamics, engine power, getting around the track as fast as possible....How do any of these NOT have to do with computers? Do they just guess? Are windtunnels and tacometer readings done using human hands? Are those gigantic computers in each pit stall not...computers?
NASCAR is designed to be as close as possible and to be "old-school" fightin' the car bumpin' style of racing.
P.S. its not called a Nascar, its a stock car. Do you call a pro football player "an NFL"?
@SecularTechnology I like pure mechanical old-stlye racing! I'm not big into tech, but yeah if it isn't your thing than hey watch indycar. NASCAR whelen modified cars could go up with any INDYCAR, no offence I like indycar, but those mechanical modifieds have speeds over 220mph compared to 200mph of a cup car. Indy goes about 260mph when top speeds of modifieds are about 250. they are pretty damn close. watch some of that racing and you might think different!
nascar is a drivers sport, the best drivers win, in indy and fl, who ever has the most money will win, the restrictions in nascar means that any 2 drivers can swap cars, and the better driver will still win.
indy cars hmmm, they pass by pressing a button, i dont see skill there. nascar is all skill, and why not have carbs, there stock cars, there supposed to be as close as the street cars as possible.
Grow up! To those of you who try to compare: These two racing series are completly different from each other...there is no reason and no point in comparing these two series. Open wheel racing and Stock Car racing are two completely different forms of motorsport, so why waste time and effort and your lives for that matter ripping each others hair out trying to see whos better, you morons amaze me....dumbasses. Open Wheel fan boys stick to their side and Stock Car Fan boys stick to theirs.
NASCAR cars are fat and heavy cuz thER STOCK CARS !!!!!!!!!!!! DATS WHY ITS CALLED THE national association for STOCK CAR auto racing! ther made to have the fat shape of a passenger car
Another major difference between an open wheel (indycar) and a stock car (nascar) is a stock car has a reverse gear. Furthermore, a stock car has more low-end power (@ take-off) than an open wheel car - unlike indycar, you never see crew members pushing a stock car to get it accelerating.
indy is more finesse, and nascar is more beatin and bangin. I personally am a nascar fan (I'm sure you could guess from my username lol) because i like the beatin and bangin. when another driver pisses you off you can put them in the wall without necessarily ruining their day completely. And you know how they say it, rubbin is racin. sometimes you gotta get the car in front of you a bit loose to get pass them and you can't really do that in f1. I love all motorsports though. RACE ON!
nascar has turned into a joke it was cool when it started out but now that its all about money and sponsors its shit people can say it takes a real driver to have a harder to handle car but it takes a real driver to drive a racetrack with out touching another car thats so stupid you can bump other cars and get away with it every pass in an indycar is dangerous in nascar you see cars go throught the pack and beat the shit out of their car
do half of you guys know the difference in an indy car versus a f1 car. an open wheel car is not an open wheel car. they have their own set of rules and are completely different. so stick to the story at hand nascar versus indy...f1 is not in the conversation
any decent driver could hop in to an Indy car and turn some good laps.. The same can not be said for someone hopping in to a Cup car for the first time.... i love all types of racing, im not hating on either, but i would say from the numerous peoples statements whove tried both, that nascar is Definately more challenging
@gtaclevelandcity I like your comment but crashing should have nothing to do with why its better!!! I wish the people that think that way when they are at a race or even watching on TV would stick to football or something, you make a great sport terrible when you have that attitude!!! If thats the reason you watch, you really are a piece of shit and need a life!!!
@craigg1981 What I meant was that it is more dangerous than NASCAR. I'm not saying that the accidents are entertaining. They are just more serious and you wonder if the driver is OK unlike in NASCAR where you KNOW that they're OK. I didn't mean to offend anyone. Although I do love football too.
Its funny when IRL people talk trash about Nascar when this guy here says that you can't steer the cars. So we have drivers racing 3400 lb cars at 190 mph, inches from each other, and they can't steer the cars very well. What does that say for the drivers and the sport?...Also I'm not a IRL/F1 basher, I love both sports. I personally prefer Nascar though. There is just more action IMO in Nascar, you can't trade paint in in an F1 car.
@MikePattison Good comments, I must disagree though!!! Turning a car that handles like shit when your sawing away at the wheel is tricky but try to do that in an F1 or even an Indycar!! You couldnt, you'd be in the wall or in the gravel and thats a fact!! They may turn better but it takes a lot more fine inputs in getting it right in an F1 car!! And also, watch Nascar when they loose control, after about 15 degrees there is no getting it back!! Not true for F1 drivers with skill!!!!
@craigg1981 I understand what you mean...and wow I realize its been a while...But you don't need to drive like that in an Indy or F1 car. The steering response in those cars are dead on, when you want the car to turn, you turn the wheel. I've never heard an Indy or F1 driver talking about the car being tight or loose. They are too aerodynamic for that. Unfortunately Nascar race cars don't stick to the track as well... And I want to ask you to watch this please. watch?v=xzj4EafNDrU
Indy is all about the car. Make the best technology and slap it on the car. Doesn't take a real driver, as the guy said, the NASCAR racears are way heavier. You need to be a real driver to try and handle one of them.
@pm15fan Thats why the same guy has won the title 4 years in a row!!! HAHAHA, you people make yourselves look like fools, we dont even need to make fun of you!!!
@PLynnJr95 Yea making something other than a left turn and taking 4.0 to 5.0 Gs a turn is tougher. You know f1 tracks generally have more than 15 turns? The cardio of an f1 driver is far superior to Nascar drivers. Look at fat ass Tony Stewart he won championships. Him in his prime would get destroyed, by Vettel,Button, or Hamilton.
@Bravesfan4500 Stewart aint all that fat nowadays, and im sure he would get destroyed. But take the other 3 guys from F1 and watch them suck in NASCAR, it aint so easy. Franchitti from IndyCar didnt have any kind of success racing stock cars. Too heavy and the car doesnt wanna turn. you gotta make it turn & drive like u want it to
@Bravesfan4500 tony has driven indy moron and they do turn left and right and he was on top in that series too. get your facts together. hell destroy you any day in any series.
@Bravesfan4500 tony was an irl driver who won the championship in the late 90s, yea hes fat now but he can still drive the wheels off a sprint car or midget. he would kill any f1 driver in a race, trust me.
@Canon39 Then why didn't he enter F1. Who yeah he is a communist, he doesn't believe he is worth $20 million a year like Lewis Hamilton or Alonso. He didn't enter because he wasn't good enough.
@Bravesfan4500 because its nearly impossible to get a good ride in f1, and he had opportunities in nascar so he took those. doesnt mean he wasnt good enough, the worlds best drivers arent in f1 anymore, this isnt the 60s and 70s.
NASCAR is more of a challenge and alot more entertaining bc its such a level playing field that its more exciting to watch, Indy racing is boring bc nothing ever really happens bc they control so well
@SecularTechnology i love how people always say nascar is just going in circles when half the indy car races are ovals as well, and their oval races are fucking boring.
@SonofBeast08 how is nascar a chalenge ? it's like driving on the highway.. there's no skill. i could train a monkey to do the same...fact: monekys can drike bicycles..so a monkey could hold on to a steering wheel.
@Choice777 dude, i race super late models and to people who have driven stock cars you sound like such a moron. your statements are tired and played, not to mention just flat out stupid. welcome to the 21st century, if it was as simple as driving on the highway why arent we all trying to be nascar drivers making 30 million dollars a year? its just like driving down the 405 freeway right? wrong, sorry. i wish i could give you a ride in my super late model at 140, youd shit your pants.
@Choice777 is so easy!! /sarcasm, only with looking to Dario Franchitti, in NASCAR the only thing that he did in NASCAR is a broken ankle and much accidents...no more, and Montoya, 5 years and 0 victories in a oval, and he in the CART was amazing...NASCAR is hard, is only your ignorance, ah...and a monkey can drive better than you!!!
@42nascarfan who the f is dario myballs... and who the fuck is montoya.just a retard. the fact is that great drivers like schumacher, hakinnen, etc would obliterate anything within 10 places on the grid. that is , they would win and the next 5 cars at least would be seriously behind. also not to mention that suckscar is like driing on the highway. the higher speed argument is full of crap because the relative speed between the cars is minimal, and there are no obstacles.
His comments seem dead on. Extenze put an IRL cr driven by Danica Patrick against NASCAR car. Unfortunately, the race looked staged and the IRL car barely won. My guess was that it should have won pretty easily.
@MichaelJHuman That wasnt an Indycar, thats why it barely won!! It looked like about a 10 year old F3000 or something A LOT smaller than a Indycar!! All that came down to was Extenze wanting to be in NASCAR more than Indy which makes perfect sense from a business point-of-view!!!
honestly a nascar car vs a irl car would be fairly close if u took off the restictor plate because the stock cars are predicted today to be able to reach speeds of 230+ at super speedways only down side of it is a 3400 pound stock car doesnt have anywhere near the acceloration of a indy car
WTF does Scott Sharp know about NASCAR! Seriously! Ask every open wheel driver that attempted NASCAR, they'll tell you it's a challenge like none other.
He said nothing about whether driving NASCAR or IRL was more difficult or competitive. He simply pointed out that an IRL car handles better, which is certainly true. Just watch how much cleaner their laps look.
Comparing F1 to NASCAR to IRL, I would say F1 cars are the fastest (and most expensive.) Then IRL, then NASCAR. On a road course, NASCAR cars really look bad compared to F1 cars which look like they are glued to the track while NASCAR cars look out of control.
Pfff... this guy has never even seen an F1 car... dude... IRL is for girls, believe me it won't turn or accelerate faster than a mighty F1. By the way, I bet you wouldn't even catch a 20 or 25 years old F1
I grew up watching open wheel racing but I watch almost any type of racing including stock car racing, I dont think there has to be a better one, open wheel and stock cars both need skills to drive it, my opinion...
The reason that I don't like IRL that much is because they race on quite a bit of ovals and open wheel cars (I believe) should be raced primarily on Road Courses. They are light and handle good, there is no reason to be racing at tracks like Kansas or Auto Club.
i love motorsports, from dragracing to nascar,, but NASCAR is the best,, it takes a lot of talent to drive a 3000lb+ tank and make it turn at 190mph,, indy cars are cool, but they aren even a car, they are a perfectly balanced rocket with wheels on it, still takes talent, but not as much,, i mean cmon, EVEN A GIRL CAN DO IT. lol
SO basically what he's saying is that he likes IndyCar because its easier...and that my friends is why open wheel drivers are PRICKS, PUSSIES and LAZY ASS EUROPIEAN FUCKERS
Indy - I love INDY, the fast speed, and it has close racing tell the last lap a lot of times, and it's not treated like a T.V. Show, it's a race.
NASCAR(Sprint Cup)- Use to really love it, but now, the races are boring, to many rules, they favor drivers, and now it's just a drama, I would love to race in it because it has fenders.
F1 (even this wasn't about F1) - I would love to be in F1, for the money. The races in f1 are just boring, I don't want to watch a leader with a 30 second lead...
"The 1992 F1 champion Nigel Mansell's rookie season victory over Mario Andretti and other American drivers in the 1993 CART Series, coupled with 1991 CART champion Michael Andretti's failed sojourn into F1, was seen by many as evidence of superiority of non-US drivers"
Quote sums it up. Mansell was criticised by F1 for taking a step down to join CART series going on to win title in 1st year beating a host of yanks. Nascar is a laughing stock.."ROUND IN CIRCLES" its the home for failed drivers
NASCAR is for people who like car wrecks and so on people get excited when they wreck. Now as for F1, its more of a gentlemans duel. it is deffinately NOT ok to bump people thats racing dirty. stay out of peoples lines. im glad montoya moved to NASCAR he can bump as many people as he wants there.
I like NASCAR better, but F1 and Indy cars are awesome, too. I like NASCAR, because it has really close racing action, and the guys will beat on each other to win, while watching an F1 or Indy Car crash is pretty cool, too. Gotta respect drivers in all three sports.
yeah and that hardness of driving is what makes NASCAR ten times better than Indy. you get to see actual racing and beating and banging, not these speedy machines zipping around trying to avoid each other. This guy is such a prick.
"Oh my god, the cars in NASCAR are so hard to drive so IndyCar is better!" Fuck you. IndyCar sucks cock.
INDY is inherently more dangerous. People die every single year in Indy wrecks; during the 70s and 80s it was almost guaranteed if you wrecked at top speed. There's no 3500 lbs of heavy American steel cage and chassis frame to protect you, no "crumple zones".
A NASCAR wreck is like a big silly spectacle. "Ha ha, so and so crashed!" Because nobody ever gets hurt.
At an INDY wreck, they call out the ambulances first thing, because rarely is anybody uninjured.
While yes it seems that alot of drivers from F1 go down to NASCAR (Speed, Villenueave, Montoya and from Indycar as well) but that is hardly a demotion. In NASCAR Montoya has shown nothing except one road track win and the ability to wrecklessly crash other people's cars on oval tracks. Villneuave was a Joke and Speed is able to win in the AA series (
If the driver does average in F1 (or good in Montoya's case), they will do average to below average in NASCAR. NASCAR is just a different series with different kinds of cars that is really unrelated in a more specific racing sense to f1. Talent is talent, and America has enough talented drivers to support an extremely competitive stock car series that foriegners havent cracked yet. Its like soccer/football in the USA. We dont watch soccer (boring) or F1(boring) and noone watches NFL or NASCAR
you guys must be all a bunch of europian bag lickers to be watching F1, NASCAR rules! no doubt about it! F1 one is all a bunch of rich cry babies! You won't find any Dale Earnhardts in F1 thats a for sure!
Thats cause Scott Speed and Montoya couldn't get a drive in F1 and so had to leave (Speed was a joke, Montoya off the pace once he was given a non-exceptional car) and BMW replaced Villeneuve with Robert Kubica and no other team was interested in signing him. Hardly like the best are being promoted from F1 to NASCAR.
u really dont know what u are talking about...when juan left in 2006 for nascar he already was with mclaren....he decided to go to nascar while he was still on contract...juan was not looking for an f1 drive in 09...it was str who approached him....
dont be so ignorant....know what comments u are posting..
Your right he was still under contract but Ron Dennis had already told him it wasn't going to be renewed at the end of the season so he went looking elsewhere. And as I said he was OFFERED a drive.
Now here are some facts and wat really happened....Montoya parted ways with Mclaren because he had signed a contract with a nascar team whilst still on contract with mclaren...mclaren did not like the fact that Juan singed up with another team without informing them or giving prior notice since Mclaren owned Juans contract at that time..Mclaren said it voilated their contractual agreement and hence termanated their contract with montoya..not bcaus he wrecked
IMO...

GOMBPRODUXIONS 1 year ago
@GOMBPRODUXIONS
...
nascar drivers have more skill because they are closer together, just a few inches and going 200 mph. if an indy car did that they would need a few wreckers.
TheGrapestEvar 10 months ago
@Canon39 Nascar is a fucking joke, Yeah 7/9 Indy tracks are oval, but they actually go fast around the fucking Oval. Nascar is sedans that handle like a fucking boat, they have FAKE FUCKING headlights, and still use fucking carburetors.
SecularTechnology 1 year ago
@SecularTechnology and indy has been running the same car for a decade... nascar's deal is that they keep it all mechanical, no electronics because it makes it all about geometry, driving skill, and math, not computers. nascar is clearly not state of the art technology, nor does it claim to be. whereas indy is watching decades old technology pretending to be modern technology. dont expect anyone to give a damn about indy next year just because of the new car, the racing will still suck.
Canon39 1 year ago
@Canon39
SecularTechnology 1 year ago
@SecularTechnology hey man whatever floats your boat... personally im a fan of all racing im just not afraid of the undeniable fact that nascar is the only motorsport anyone cares about in the us. you sound bitter and frusterated.

Nevermind.
SecularTechnology 1 year ago

Jared1452 1 year ago
@SecularTechnology
nascar is a drivers sport, the best drivers win, in indy and fl, who ever has the most money will win, the restrictions in nascar means that any 2 drivers can swap cars, and the better driver will still win.
TheGrapestEvar 10 months ago
@SecularTechnology
indy cars hmmm, they pass by pressing a button, i dont see skill there. nascar is all skill, and why not have carbs, there stock cars, there supposed to be as close as the street cars as possible.
TheGrapestEvar 10 months ago

DATS WHY ITS CALLED THE national association for STOCK CAR auto racing! ther made to have the fat shape of a passenger car
franznonato 1 year ago

RACE ON!
nascaraddict329 1 year ago
nascar has turned into a joke it was cool when it started out but now that its all about money and sponsors its shit people can say it takes a real driver to have a harder to handle car but it takes a real driver to drive a racetrack with out touching another car thats so stupid you can bump other cars and get away with it every pass in an indycar is dangerous in nascar you see cars go throught the pack and beat the shit out of their car

Top 4 reasons why Indy is better than NASCAR:
1.faster
2. crashes are worse
3. RIGHT TURNS
4. no drunk rednecks and thier fat wives who like to flash thier tits because they think they're hot.
gtaclevelandcity 1 year ago
@gtaclevelandcity I like your comment but crashing should have nothing to do with why its better!!! I wish the people that think that way when they are at a race or even watching on TV would stick to football or something, you make a great sport terrible when you have that attitude!!! If thats the reason you watch, you really are a piece of shit and need a life!!!
craigg1981 1 year ago
@craigg1981 What I meant was that it is more dangerous than NASCAR. I'm not saying that the accidents are entertaining. They are just more serious and you wonder if the driver is OK unlike in NASCAR where you KNOW that they're OK. I didn't mean to offend anyone. Although I do love football too.
gtaclevelandcity 1 year ago
Its funny when IRL people talk trash about Nascar when this guy here says that you can't steer the cars. So we have drivers racing 3400 lb cars at 190 mph, inches from each other, and they can't steer the cars very well. What does that say for the drivers and the sport?...Also I'm not a IRL/F1 basher, I love both sports. I personally prefer Nascar though. There is just more action IMO in Nascar, you can't trade paint in in an F1 car.
MikePattison 1 year ago
@MikePattison Good comments, I must disagree though!!! Turning a car that handles like shit when your sawing away at the wheel is tricky but try to do that in an F1 or even an Indycar!! You couldnt, you'd be in the wall or in the gravel and thats a fact!! They may turn better but it takes a lot more fine inputs in getting it right in an F1 car!! And also, watch Nascar when they loose control, after about 15 degrees there is no getting it back!! Not true for F1 drivers with skill!!!!
craigg1981 1 year ago
@craigg1981 I understand what you mean...and wow I realize its been a while...But you don't need to drive like that in an Indy or F1 car. The steering response in those cars are dead on, when you want the car to turn, you turn the wheel. I've never heard an Indy or F1 driver talking about the car being tight or loose. They are too aerodynamic for that. Unfortunately Nascar race cars don't stick to the track as well... And I want to ask you to watch this please. watch?v=xzj4EafNDrU
MikePattison 10 months ago
Indy is all about the car. Make the best technology and slap it on the car. Doesn't take a real driver, as the guy said, the NASCAR racears are way heavier. You need to be a real driver to try and handle one of them.

F1 cars: Quick, lightweight, do whatever u want, perfect car. If the car always handles like you want it to, it may take a little less skill.
NASCAR: Heavy, slower, cars never handle your way. If the car hardly wants to drive, you must FORCE it to drive, it may take a bit more skill than F1.
F1 looks exciting, needs quick reflexes, races in rain, n stuff.
NASCAR doesnt look that cool, but wrestling an oven car for 4 hours w/42 other guys aint easy.
Both have their +'s and -'s.
PLynnJr95 1 year ago 2
@PLynnJr95 Yea making something other than a left turn and taking 4.0 to 5.0 Gs a turn is tougher. You know f1 tracks generally have more than 15 turns? The cardio of an f1 driver is far superior to Nascar drivers. Look at fat ass Tony Stewart he won championships. Him in his prime would get destroyed, by Vettel,Button, or Hamilton.
Bravesfan4500 1 year ago
@Bravesfan4500 Stewart aint all that fat nowadays, and im sure he would get destroyed. But take the other 3 guys from F1 and watch them suck in NASCAR, it aint so easy. Franchitti from IndyCar didnt have any kind of success racing stock cars. Too heavy and the car doesnt wanna turn. you gotta make it turn & drive like u want it to
PLynnJr95 1 year ago
@Bravesfan4500 tony has driven indy moron and they do turn left and right and he was on top in that series too. get your facts together. hell destroy you any day in any series.
supercomet32 1 year ago
@Bravesfan4500 tony was an irl driver who won the championship in the late 90s, yea hes fat now but he can still drive the wheels off a sprint car or midget. he would kill any f1 driver in a race, trust me.
Canon39 1 year ago
@Canon39 Then why didn't he enter F1. Who yeah he is a communist, he doesn't believe he is worth $20 million a year like Lewis Hamilton or Alonso. He didn't enter because he wasn't good enough.
Bravesfan4500 1 year ago
@Bravesfan4500 because its nearly impossible to get a good ride in f1, and he had opportunities in nascar so he took those. doesnt mean he wasnt good enough, the worlds best drivers arent in f1 anymore, this isnt the 60s and 70s.

Ask these drivers about NASCAR vs. ALL OPEN WHEEL leauges
Jaques Villeanuve (sorry if spelling is off)
Dario Franchitti
Juan Pablo Montoya (Who quit F1 because he thought it was boring)
Tony Stewart ( who ran the Indy 500 and had plenty of energy to race and finish 2nd in the Coke 600
Scott Speed
A.J Allmendinger
and/or anyone else who has actually raced in both
Psycho5275 1 year ago
NASCAR is more of a challenge and alot more entertaining bc its such a level playing field that its more exciting to watch, Indy racing is boring bc nothing ever really happens bc they control so well
SonofBeast08 2 years ago
@SonofBeast08
Nascar is not more challenging at all.
I think you mean NACAR is the boring one becasue you are watching cars go around Ovals over and over and over.

@SecularTechnology i love how people always say nascar is just going in circles when half the indy car races are ovals as well, and their oval races are fucking boring.
Canon39 1 year ago
@SonofBeast08 how is nascar a chalenge ? it's like driving on the highway.. there's no skill. i could train a monkey to do the same...fact: monekys can drike bicycles..so a monkey could hold on to a steering wheel.
Choice777 1 year ago
@Choice777 dude, i race super late models and to people who have driven stock cars you sound like such a moron. your statements are tired and played, not to mention just flat out stupid. welcome to the 21st century, if it was as simple as driving on the highway why arent we all trying to be nascar drivers making 30 million dollars a year? its just like driving down the 405 freeway right? wrong, sorry. i wish i could give you a ride in my super late model at 140, youd shit your pants.
Canon39 1 year ago
@Choice777 is so easy!! /sarcasm, only with looking to Dario Franchitti, in NASCAR the only thing that he did in NASCAR is a broken ankle and much accidents...no more, and Montoya, 5 years and 0 victories in a oval, and he in the CART was amazing...NASCAR is hard, is only your ignorance, ah...and a monkey can drive better than you!!!
42nascarfan 10 months ago
@42nascarfan who the f is dario myballs... and who the fuck is montoya.just a retard. the fact is that great drivers like schumacher, hakinnen, etc would obliterate anything within 10 places on the grid. that is , they would win and the next 5 cars at least would be seriously behind. also not to mention that suckscar is like driing on the highway. the higher speed argument is full of crap because the relative speed between the cars is minimal, and there are no obstacles.
Choice777 10 months ago

His comments seem dead on. Extenze put an IRL cr driven by Danica Patrick against NASCAR car. Unfortunately, the race looked staged and the IRL car barely won. My guess was that it should have won pretty easily.
MichaelJHuman 2 years ago 9

Seriously! Ask every open wheel driver that attempted NASCAR, they'll tell you it's a challenge like none other.
richdeveau24 2 years ago
He said nothing about whether driving NASCAR or IRL was more difficult or competitive. He simply pointed out that an IRL car handles better, which is certainly true. Just watch how much cleaner their laps look.
Comparing F1 to NASCAR to IRL, I would say F1 cars are the fastest (and most expensive.) Then IRL, then NASCAR. On a road course, NASCAR cars really look bad compared to F1 cars which look like they are glued to the track while NASCAR cars look out of control.
MichaelJHuman 2 years ago

The reason that I don't like IRL that much is because they race on quite a bit of ovals and open wheel cars (I believe) should be raced primarily on Road Courses. They are light and handle good, there is no reason to be racing at tracks like Kansas or Auto Club.

Search for "Richard Smiley crash" and you'll see what I'm talking about.
Fucking up in an F1 car at 230 mph. means death, generally. There are no second chances. You end up like Smiley, squished like a bug.
If he'd been driving a NASCAR car he would have dented the grille a bit, hopped out, and gotten into his backup car.
Bullzeye95 2 years ago
I totally agree with you about nascar being more safe than indycar but his name is Gordon Smiley not Richard Smiley. You make a great point though!
29sucks 2 years ago
Another fact:
INDY is inherently more dangerous. People die every single year in Indy wrecks; during the 70s and 80s it was almost guaranteed if you wrecked at top speed. There's no 3500 lbs of heavy American steel cage and chassis frame to protect you, no "crumple zones".
A NASCAR wreck is like a big silly spectacle. "Ha ha, so and so crashed!" Because nobody ever gets hurt.
At an INDY wreck, they call out the ambulances first thing, because rarely is anybody uninjured.
Bullzeye95 2 years ago 2
While yes it seems that alot of drivers from F1 go down to NASCAR (Speed, Villenueave, Montoya and from Indycar as well) but that is hardly a demotion. In NASCAR Montoya has shown nothing except one road track win and the ability to wrecklessly crash other people's cars on oval tracks. Villneuave was a Joke and Speed is able to win in the AA series (
Slotten68 3 years ago
If the driver does average in F1 (or good in Montoya's case), they will do average to below average in NASCAR. NASCAR is just a different series with different kinds of cars that is really unrelated in a more specific racing sense to f1. Talent is talent, and America has enough talented drivers to support an extremely competitive stock car series that foriegners havent cracked yet. Its like soccer/football in the USA. We dont watch soccer (boring) or F1(boring) and noone watches NFL or NASCAR
