  • I bet God has this piece in His Ipod.

  • What a Beautiful, Astounding Resonant Sound! This is it!!! This is the glorious sound of the mystical universe!!

  • id love to know what album thi sis off of

  • I only discovered steve roachs music about 3 years ago its so immense and beautiful I was blown away by his longform pieces of music the sheer depth is an emotional journey and I have about 12 albums of his now.to see him live must be an experiance and a half.

  • epic

  • oh man this is so awesome!! steve roach is the god of sounds <3

  • steve.......this is totally badass!!

  • The music sounds like its breathing....

  • sublime..., just sublime...!!!

  • 11,000 bad poems or one good note.

  • o no no

  • o no no

  • its creepy

  • WOW. Beyond words. Thanks for the soundscapes, Steve. And thank you to Dr. Leonus for posting this gem.

  • the atmosphere is overwhelming!

  • Awesome combine of music and architecture

  • this is beyond magical!

  • hah i was at this show in the front. it was awesome.

  • I'm an electronic ambient artist and a fan of Steve Roach's music. As a Christian his sound is so very spiritual to me. I really wish more church organizations would be open to this style of music. This performance is one of most beautiful things I have ever heard and I believe God can be praised in many ways and forms if only people wouldn't get in the way with their prejudices.

  • Watching this little video on my laptop is a very moving experience - I can't imagine how wonderful it would have been to be there at the concert.

  • I have no words, this is simple magic music. Steve is master of electronic psychedelic music.

  • hey jabootie. it a small excerpt from "Mystic Chords and Sacred Spaces" entitled, "This Moment is a Memory from Disc 3. The cd is called "Recent Future." It a four cd soundgem from Steve.

  • Christianity needs to more like this

  • A perfect setting for his musical gift from God and to share his talents with the world.

  • Whether it came from God or his brain, I don't care. OUTSTANDING!

  • Wish I was there.

  • so so so beautiful.

  • I've been trying for years and years and years to find someone else that makes music like Steve Roach. So far not much luck. He's great!!!

  • he is an American Original.

    The best of his genre.

  • @kylebaker2010 there are many :), thom brennan, max corbacho, micheal stearns, numina

  • Steve Roach and Robert Rich are ambient gods... I'm lucky enough to own "Soma" and "Strata", their works together....

  • During a transitional period in my life last year I walked the labyrinth inside Grace Cathedral. I'd leave my office job every day and trot over to Nob Hill to surrender to "The Path."

Each day I became more like a mountain, more like a cloud. Now I've found this video and it gives me great insight into what I gained from my daily exercise in that beautiful heavenly realm. This is euphoria beautifully captured in a sonic experience. Thank you for posting Lee Howard's film, Dr. Leonus!

  • you're welcome

  • Thank you for this wonderful production Lee! So beautifully you have captured Steve here, such a joy to watch.

  • His music creates an out of body experience.

  • That is the sound! Unbelievable!

  • check bisophere's concerts if you are lookin for absolute spiritual oblivion and space exploration

  • Bravo, I agree with Ambient it is personal and intimate, like ready a book...thank you for posting.

  • Wow... Words for days...

  • I wonder if rick wright of pink floyd inspired this guy....

  • I had the privilege of attending this concert. It was about three hours of the most intense musical bliss imaginable. The light show in the Grace Cathedral provided all the visual stimuli needed. I'm looking forward to Steve releasing the concert audio.

  • LOL. This kind of music is personal and intimate, like reading a book. It isn't well suited to rock concert like performances.

  • The slow motion bit at 13:10 of him slowly raising his head and then looking back down gave me wood. Strong wood. Stronger than morning wood. Of course, I also like the AC repairman scenario too. Boredom is my fetish...

  • Oh , did i need to comment on the 18 minutes of music here? No .. Why? why does not have to be answered ;)

  • Great comment kinderprof , and i like words. Written words emanate frequency and vibration and they do have a direct effect.

I am only "now" just starting too really understand what this earth is about and my task here, strange old times and strange old lifes we live.. long path.

  • Eclectic imagery. A

cathedral..archangels..saints..&what looked like a statue of a demon at one point. So may I presume this is about the rebellion in Heaven as portrayed in the Bible? That is what I think of when I hear this. And, a sort of sadness at the end..celestial friends (Michael, Raphael, Gabriel, Uriel) lost in spiritual battle, or for those that "joined the other side". Or is it just my imagination? I agree with another poster, this piece of art NEEDS to be on an album!

  • beautifully stated...you seem to grasp a meaning that had not been there in the original filming...Steve's work never fails to transport the listener to other worlds, soundworlds

emanating a bounteousness that exudes a harmony a peace, a resolve to life's tribulations...like a soothing balm for the soul

    leehoward

  • "For here there is no-one that does not see you...you must change your life".

  • This selection is incredible. Steve Roach's ambient soundscapes never fail to quiet my mind and calm my spirit. The etherial footage of the cathedral is aptly meditative and dreamlike. I Love it. I need this to be available on cd.

  • i find it kind of dark sounding.

  • this is a rare piece of music that Steve edited down from the concert itself...we were very lucky to be able to use it...thanks for asking...

    leehoward

  • This is a fantastic piece of music but does it appear on any available cd.

  • Even the spirits were speechless.

  • brilliant music from master Roach.

  • Great to have Steve Roach in video.

  • good music

  • blessings ,

    my friend

    dr. leonus

  • a seminal masterpiece....a piece from a major player in this genre.......

  • Wow!

Great music from a great artist.

    Thanks for posting the clip:-)

  • soundworlds

  • Is there a name for this piece?

  • one of my favorite long pieces that truly strikes a mesmerizing chord with me-haunting, deep, and oh so 'in this moment.'

thank you endlessly, steve, for continuing to be the sonic painter for more than 15 years.

    all my best.mMyk'l

  • wow, im speechless!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Amazingly beautiful piece of ambient music !

Roach is the master of ambient music.

    Peace !

  • Beaver & Krause recorded the second side of 'Gandharva' in the same church in 1971.

Another ambient classic worth checking out.

  • he is one of those artists that needs to be experienced almost on a one to one basis, somewhere like this with only a few people to witness would make it so much more profound than in a conventional arena surrounded by people, im fairly sure i would forget where i was, time really has no meaning in his deep dulcet musical world

  • I visited Grace Cathedral back in 1999 and I wish I was there in 2007 to see this amazing and awe-inspiring concert. Steve, you are incredible.

  • honestly what id give to listen to a set like this in a place like that. I dont think for me i could experience anything musically more intense than that, and ive been to illegal raves and done countless drugs to acid techno music as the sun rises.

  • I was at this exact show...it was unbelievable. so beautiful. i was in the front too.

  • this music takes me to a special place

a place that i cannot describe literally. a place that i have had within me since i was born

  • your description is exactly what I feel - I go to a place of contemtment, inner peace and comfort. Grace Cathedral is a very special, holy place and there is no more fitting setting for this music.

  • Thanks for this post. The perfect environment for this piece. I have played similar Steve Roach pieces for weeks at a time,,, constant, unbroken, uninterrupted 24/7, it helped me prepare for the passing of someone very close to me!

  • n e o c r o n

  • I went to this show! It was something I will never forget. Although on the downside I also will remember the incredibly uptight people that can get pretty snobby if you aren't into eating organic and talking about spirituality rather than just enjoying the music for what it is.

  • so true...

  • i eat steak drink beer and get arrested a few times a year abd i love steve roach, just goes to show that purity isnt always loved by the pure.

  • I eat steak... I've never been arrested, but I also love Steve Roach.

Let me be the first to say : I stand with you brother..

  • his music takes the listener on a journey to the center of their souls...he's courageous, inventive

and a heck of a nice guy!

    lee

  • I've known Steve Roach for many years and he continues to defy musical boundaries, he told me about this concert recently and all I'll say is I wish I was there, and yes I have all his recordings as well....awesome Steve!!!

  • nice

he's one of the best...so true!

  • Get his latest "Arc of Passion"....just peachy!!

    Steve-O

  • Amazing. Thank you!

  • I love Steve Roach. I have every single album of his including collaborations. I am studing psychology and for my Masters I want to study the effect of music such as this and the brain. Such as sleep and thought.

  • A true work of art!

  • I went to his concert in Philadelphia as a part of Gathering electronic music shows. It was one of the most spectacular shows that I have ever seen. He gave an astonishing performance. I think Steve Roach is one of the most prominent musicians working in ambient tribal electronic music on the whole planet.

  • niiiiiiice; goood that you have such good taste in life living and music, my friend...

may we all have such refinements....

    dr.leonus
