@314299 What I find interesting is a lot of people who aren't knowledgeable think all smokeless is either Cordite or black powder. The modern smokeless has an almost infinite amount of powders of different burning rates and applications. Great video.
@ammosmith I'm pretty sure I have some older SAAMI literature where the recommend disposal method for old powder was to burn it in an open area in piles of no more than a pound at a time.
My uncle once did the same thing with the black powder from old brass shotgun shells confiscated from my cousin. That was around 1978 when I was a kid. I remember that he lit the powder with a match and really burned his fingers. I am not sure now, but the recollection is that the black powder went off with a little boom.
@yevgenz Black powder certainly burns much differently than smokeless does. As your uncle found out it burns just as fast unconfined as it does when it's in a gun barrel.
Thats awesome !!!! did that one time they use smokeless gunpowder for wwe kane's pyro

Damn, that's some fast powder mate. That burns quicker than bullseye.
klesmer 9 months ago
@klesmer It's fast for sure. Since the rounds were British from 1942 it's anyone's guess as to what the powder was.

Pistol powder burns really fast.
ammosmith 9 months ago
@ammosmith That it does. A number of years ago I disposed of seven pounds of IMR type rifle powder whiuch had gone bad and it burned much slower.

@ammosmith I guess there is little motivation for the average non-reloader to know anything technical about powders.

@314299 I've heard the police do this too.

Any hair left? I've used a few misfired 22's to start my tinder when the tinder was wet

@Yukon12gauge I was well back out of the way, so yes my hair is all there. I think 300 grains would be more than necessary for campfire starting!
