maynard still sounds great, its just that (like he said on carson) his voice is not what it used to be. I can understand, mer de noms was one of the greatest albums vocally I have ever heard, and it is probably hard to emulate live now that he is older. I think the more he starts singing again alot more, he will get his voice back. I am looking forward to that for tool. Great Song and great version

There is an acoustic version of this, It sounds like an unplugged set, they have amazing violin instrumentals in the background.I release about a gallon of serotonine whenever I hear it. Thumbs up if you know the one I'm talking about.

It sounds so weird and flat on the chorus because at that point in the song there's usually an enormous crescendo and there's a bunch of vocal melodies and it's just really really studio'd and stuff.

He's kinda flat but it mostly sounds weird because of that.

I can hear it too, his voice wasn't quite ready for this song. He has injured his vocal chords singing before, and the style of singing he likes to do requires lots of warming up I'm sure. Still, the other songs from this session sound great, maybe this was the first one they did, it sounds live.
