  • Are you a music teacher?

  • WOW You're AWESOME!

  • that was some awesome playing indeed!

  • i am 9 and i am getting the hang of it and i think your really good my birthday is coming up and i think i might get because i have been asking my to buy me a new taylor

  • Hello Jordan. You really make the Taylor 114e sing very nice. You and the guitar are melted to one peace together. Keep up your nice playing and load it up on YouTube, please. O yes, I noticed this: you tuned the Taylor indeed to DADGAD, but also a 1/2 step down, right?

  • I concur with shaneevans1, Very well done Jordan.

  • wow this is some amazing playing! Keep it up!!

  • Awesome guitar, awesome playing ;)

Can't wait to play this taylor in 4 weeks :D

  • please do a tutorial of what you just played its beautiful i would love to learnt that please please pleaseee

  • @HotJonasMess haha. man i don't have as much spare time as I used to. I get to post maaaaybe one video every month or so. use that ear of yours. it's more dependable than my ability to make videos. :)

  • Great playing!

  • that is awesome

  • From a long time fan who just stumbled onto this video over my Saturday morning coffee...

Just incredible, great great tone Jordan.

Here's a vote from Baton Rouge for Jordan Self for Idol '11.

I would just love to see Randy's face when you tear off an acoustic blues riff like found in this clip. I say go for it.

Get a world stage to share His message.

    Go Jordan.....

  • Well, Randy's face when i play guitar is one thing, Simon's face when i SING is another matter. lol. don't think i can pull off idol. it'd be nice. but yeah. hahahaha.

  • wow that was better than i could of thought of

  • That was AMAZING!!!!!

  • ops u are a girl...sorry but anyway...awesome.good luck

  • nice stuff dude...

  • Nice! So these are nanoweb? Im trying to decide If I want to get nanoweb or polyweb. I've heard mixed reviews. I guess I'll just have to try them out myself. Really good job tho I love it!

  • In my opinion there's not really a difference. They both feel the same and sound the same. I always get phosphor bronze nanowebs, because apparently the polywebs flake. They're both great though.

  • So this is elixir? I heard from a bunchhhh of people that they break. But you're playing fairly hard, and I can't see that they'd break...

  • i personally have never broken ANY string playing. but tuning, yes. elixers have been a bit fragile in the tuning department. especially the 3rd string

  • Marry me?!

  • that was jaw dropping

  • Really Really GOOD.

  • wow.. since when you start using DADGAD technic Jordan? awsome skill...

  • Wonderful!

  • Awesome... I was actually planning on getting that guitar and this vid just solidified that decision. Very well done =]

  • Ive never seen a girl this good before.. and a lot of guys.

  • OMG!!!! how old r u??? u play soooooooo welll

  • I want that guitar! It's great

  • Nice! how much did it cost?

  • it was marked at $1000 but i got it for like $675 or something like that.

  • oh ok thanks :) but what's the name of the song at 0:45 with the bending? I looked at your website but I didn't find anything..

  • that one is probably "lord of the dance" by steven curtis chapman.

  • hey jordan, why don't you re-record "Lord of the Dance" with your 114e? keep on worshippin' :D

  • yeaah man, Taylor rules! I've a 110e Dreadnought which is from the lower and cheaper series from Taylor but that thing just sings out beautifully plugged-in or not... I have a Goo Goo Dolls tribute band and my Taylor does the job soooo well =)

I also use 2 other guitars 'cause I need 3 different tunings... (a Takamine and a PRS)

Thing is: when I'm playing with the band everybody knows the deal when I put down my Takamine and pick my Taylor up..."now that's acoustic sound..." x)

    Nice playing!!

  • Good job mate!! Question what's a better guitar Taylor 110e or big baby?

  • You're really good! Keep up the great work. You look very young.

  • :O [[wow]]

    it's so qreat ;D

  • now youtube is not a waste of time for me

    just kiddin

  • WOW. That was great. Definitely impressed.

  • Awesome!!

  • That was really really good! What is the name of the first song you played? Thank You.

  • the first song is "the change" by steven curtis chapman

  • damn! :)

  • I love the first part of your video.

  • i really appriciate your faith and style i love it and you have really helped me on dadgad tuning. you need to make a tab book for the rest of us trying to get to your skill level. ha ha. hey if you could post a video on cool dadgad licks like around 0.50-1.00 i would really apriciate it

  • wat song is around 1:00 till the end

  • that's one i wrote

  • that is really amazing man...really really good.!!!

  • Definitively, beautiful song Jordan...Congratulations.

  • cool guitar man, I had a 414 a couple of years ago. Bet wishes with your music. God Bless

  • Great playing.

  • Good job!!!

  • great sound. you remind me of myself when i was in my early teens. what kind of strings are you using there? nice taylor sound

  • elixir nano's

  • great guitarist and great guitar! I own a taylor too, theyre great!

  • wat is this song??

  • what`s the first song that u`ve played??Love it...I wish I can get the sheet^^

  • the first song i believe is "the change" by Steven Curtis Chapman

  • You play awesomely...WOW...Nice guitar...

  • what model is that

    is it a baby?

    and great playing

  • no it's not a baby taylor. it's a 114e

  • oh oh!

cool i like it i want one like that thats not a baby taylor

    or a 014ce series

    that ones nice:)

  • haha as soon as i figured out the song you were playing, i smiled. Steven Curtis Chapman rocks!!! =D awesome job!

  • nice music!!!

  • What's the first song called?? Great playing 5 *

  • "The Change" by Steven Curtis Chapman

  • how is your guitar tuned in this video?

  • DADGAD

  • Hey. first i wanna say you do a great job! sounds awsome. but i dont find the tabs for this Dive" by steven curtis chapman on the blogg u have.. would be great if u can put them up there. / MG

  • OK, i'll check on that.

  • You're a great guitarist!

I'm curious though: is the second song you play something you made up or is it a cover? I could have sworn I've heard it before...

  • the second song is "Dive" by steven curtis chapman. i think the last song on here is mine

  • great joband

  • very nice

  • Hey Men...regards from Venezuela.....great song....beautufil melody !!! God Bless you !!

  • hey thats ounds very good , very very good, i am just getting into acoustic playing and that insipred me more to work at it, i just got a taylor dn3, your taylor sounds great too!!

  • He hee ha. You led worship for after dark once. Your shanes freind. Cool.

  • yes, i'm shane's friend. odd hearing from somebody that i know on here! haha.

  • is that an acoustic electric?

  • yes, it has the Taylor Expression System

  • Thats whats so great about guitars, that they sound different depending on woods etc!Its down to personal tastes and the style you play!Martin,Guild,Gibson,Lowden and Taylor etc all make great guitars and i would like to have an example of each to add to my 314ce! Im just glad i put the effort in to learn to play in the first place!Peace!PS.Great [playing Jordan!

  • Awesome! I hear hints of Kottke, Emmanuel, and Bensusan. I like their styles...and yours too. Thanks for responding to my vid!

  • thanks, what an honor to be referenced to guitarists like these. i know i'll never acquire their level, but even so, what a compliment. thanks for adding my video.

    Jordan

  • i have the same guitar and yeah it sounds really good i think that it was a good buy, but i think that it would be worth it to spend a little more on a martin

  • beautiful! you and the guitar!

  • I'm considering a taylor 810 or a gibson j50? which do you recomend?

  • i haven't played the gibson, but if you're willing to shell it out, i'd recommend the Taylor G.S. series or the 700 series. Koa series are supposed to be unreal too.

  • i like a dreadnout for and acosutic electric....country music

  • that was unreal!!would u recomend taylor guitars?i was thinking of geten an acoustic and was looking at either a martin or taylor!!but their both abit pricey after buying a gibson les paul for 2grand

  • yes, buy a taylor, you will be sooo pleased with it. guaranteed. don't waste money on a martin! in the name of all that is holy! lol. nah. later,

    jordan

  • Dont waste money a martin??? are you kidding me?martin makes amazing guitars,i have a martin and taylor..and i'd pick my martin over my taylor

  • haha. it's just a thing me and my dad give each other a hard time about. he doesn't like my taylor, and he likes martins. so it's sort of like sacrelidge for me to recommend one. kind of like you're a redsox or a yankees fan. :)

  • girl you are the most talented one I've ever heard! I wish I could play like that! Be richly blessed! Chris

  • really nice:)))

  • Hey, I can't find tabs for this on your site... Can you help me?? :)

  • um I think on this video i played "the change" and "whatever" as it's called. but the tabs are a bit different from what i play in this video because I've redone them. On this video I wasn't even playing the songs correctly.

  • Jordan, you make that Taylor guitar sing man, you are amazing, keep up the great work and praise for out lord and savior! I also have a Taylor guitar, 12 string jumbo, a taylor is a beautiful piece of machinery, and you make that baby sing, continue your ministry! Just wondering how old you are?

  • i'm 18. thanks for watching

  • I just prayed for your ministry. Your hard work and God-given talents just reach out and grab people. Your tributes to Steven Curtis and his family through playing his songs are a blessing in and of themselves to the family during this time of sadness and hope. You draw people to know more about the love of God through music. I don't know you but count me as a fan!! Long Beach, CA says Hi!!

  • well great to meet you too.

  • Ciao, sei bravissimo! Chitarra eccezionale!

  • Wow! how amazing gift has God given to you, that´s amazing!!! I cannot say I play guitar after seeing you play!!! That's pure passion!!! God bless you always!!!

  • I'm jealous you have a Taylor. j/k You are a blessing to me. God Bless You...

  • 5 stars great music .keep going

  • u rock!

  • hey jordan

nice playing i liked your style...

  • i see you thank god a lot,i'm just not religous i'm afraid and think guitar playing is just down to hard work most people give up when they get to barre chords but if you persist and persist you end up playing like you,by the way i haven't got there yet, very nice playing, all the best from a very envious Englishman.

  • yeah i understand where you're coming from as far as persistence. man, that's a key. however, I know some people who have "persisted" for over 30 years and never reach this level (please don't take this as boasting, that was not a pride statement). So i believe that it is God who gives the talent, and it's our persistence that nourishes and polishes the gift that's already there. we don't give gifts to ourselves by our own power. have a great day man, -Jordan

  • Jordan you do have a point in as much that some people are naturally talented and will progress accordingly you call it a blessing from god i call it genetics.i really believe people who learn guitar must have a deep routed love of music to really progress,if your learning guitar just as a challenge i don't think you'll make it to the highest levels. If you love your music you will play with soul, feeling and a natural flow.i have only been playing 16 months frustrated but enjoying it.THE BLUES

  • okie doke. so we have different views on things. it's cool. i'm not probably ever going to be able to sway you with my words how amazing a relationship with God is, and you probably won't sway me to believe He doesn't have a hand in my life. even so, it's great to meet and talk with you. thanks for watching my videos buddy! later on, Jordan

  • im good at the guitar. not as talented as you OF COURSE! lol. ur wonderful. but i do believe god gave me my talent ad i believe that is what my calling is to praise him and spread his word with my talent.

its scary though because im just not the kind of person who wants to perform for a huge crowd.

btw, is that an actual song or did u make it up?

  • they are actual songs. and you're %100 correct about your gifts, keep using them to glorify the One who gave them to you! I know what you mean about the crowds; you just have to find your place with God in the midst of the lights and smoke and noise and let that be your focus. then the people are just an extra part of a great experience.

  • thanks. and wut are the songs?

  • "The Change", "Dive", "Lord of the Dance", by Steven Curtis Chapman, and then one that I wrote.

  • wow. it just so happens that the one i liked most was yours!

is it © yet?? id love the tabs!

  • nooooo, no copyright. i know i need to really bad. i'd be soooo sad if someone jacked my song! lol. but hey, when i do, tabs will flyin' left and right, i promise.

  • yea i would too.

    haha. ok. thanks very much.

    dont forget! lol

    'tis a great song!

and keep up the good work!

    =]

  • Hey there Englishman. I know it's hard to believe in God and His sovereign blessings. He blesses who He wants when He wants. I pray you will come to know Jesus by opening your hear to Him and then you will see what Jordan talks about. It will make perfect sense, when God moves your heart. Trust me, when God moves your heart you will know it's not of your own doing! Cheers mate.

  • whats the song you play at the end? Have the tabs?

  • Sounds like Mombasa from Tommy Emmanuel

  • that's one that i wrote actually, i haven't posted the whole thing 'cause i don't have it copyrighted. I haven't tabbed it yet. sorry.

  • awesome....you got some nice chops!

  • ...and I agree, the Elixers are definately worth it!

  • Man you just put me to shame. :(

  • is that a boy or a girl??

  • i'm a girl, the lighting in that vid is hard to tell i know. haha. you're not the first person to ask.

  • I guess that makes more sense... ya some people can't feel music even if their life depends on it... and yes Ferrari F40s are great cars

  • Nice playing, but I find it odd when people thank god for their success in something such as guitar playing. Did you pick up a guitar for the first time and instantly figure it out? Probably not... you probably had to practice a hell of a lot like everyone else... so don't thank god for your success thank yourself for the dedication and hours of jamming out... I suppose you can thank god for the gift of free will but take some credit for your own success and keep playing

  • what tuning are you in? sounds great def drop d is what it sounds like

  • it's sort of like drop D, it's called DADGAD.

  • sweet. it sounds great

  • Nice playin, what you're doing is what Taylors are fantastic for. You seem like a great person too. Keep it up!

  • I'm sure you make the Taylor Company proud,

    nice licks!

  • how old are you anyway?.

  • i'm 18

  • at absolute best this is mediocre

  • thank you for your honesty. sorry you didn't like it.

  • Jordan, You are so gifted! I sure couldn't find anything on Youtube by that sonotera jerk. Some people are just naturally rotten I guess...but Jesus loves them too. haha. God bless!!

  • ah, no need to call names, i'm glad people are honest sometimes. i enjoy the compliments, but i don't want nice words if someone really didn't like my playing. it doesn't bother me. good to meet you, i've been to alabama before. beautiful state.

  • Hey. Nice video. =) You are gifted.

Um, I didn't post the other comment under my name, and I don't know who "sonotera" is,so I certainly don't think, he/they/whatever it is a jerk. =P lol. Some one must have left it by mistake under my name. Nice geetar pickin' though. =)

  • haha, it's cool. sometimes my little bro gets on youtube under my name if i've left myself signed in, no telling what he says on other videos. have a good tuesday.

  • Whoa! That was fun! Great playing kid, have fun and always praise the Lord!

  • very good, be proud!

  • not proud of myself, proud that God gave me a gift and allows me to use it like this. :)

  • Keep playing, you have a gift my friend.

  • wow i feel like crap now!!you got so much potential!!!

  • thanks for the compliment, and don't feel like crap! God smiles at the heart you play with, not the fingers! i'm sure you do great, don't let a video make you feel down. have a fantastic monday, your friend, Jordan

  • DANG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • damn dude thats sick. you deserve that guitar! did you get lessons?

  • no lessons, just self-taught. God has been very generous giving me the gift of music. He's been awesome to me. :)

  • man i do want a fine taylor. sounds amazing. Beautiful and sing to also. You rock on it dude. really nice tuning and playing. keep it up!

  • nice composition. have you heard of "akaskero" by thomas leeb ? sounds very similar, i think you'd like it 8 )

  • what tuning is that

  • DADGAD tuning

  • i love country music and play guiatr and i play a lot and i wanna write my own stuff, do you have any advice?

  • as far as song writing goes, the most important ingredients are: honesty, and emotion. write what your heart feels. instrumentals when you write them should be a reflection of how you feel. if you're writing a somber, mellow song, you may want to use more minor chords and diminshed stuff. if you're writing happier stuff, use the major chords and maybe throw in some percussive work with the right hand. make sense at all? lol.

  • This just made me really happy.. haha idk why. You should post the whole thing!! id love to listen.

Ps. i wont snag it cuz i cant play haha

  • how do you copywrite songs? (i would like to know :D)

  • you record your stuff onto a tape or cd, and it costs $30 per song (or entry). you send it by mail to washington d.c. where they do all that stuff, (i forget what the actual name of the place is, you'd have to look it up) and in a few weeks they send you a certificate stating that the song is your property.

  • wow that sucks :( 30 dollars? D:

  • yeah, it ain't cheap i'll give you that. but ultimately it could save you a bunch of money that you would lose if someone stole it! lol.

  • what song were you playing @ 1:18?

  • that was part of an acoustic piece that i wrote one night. i haven't posted the whole thing on youtube because it isn't copyrighted yet and i don't want someone to snag it. lol. later on. Jordan

  • great guitar playing, i love the sound too

  • wow you are amazing.. my friend has a big baby taylor.. i play a breedlove... keep postin more vids up

  • my friend just bought a $2200 breedlove, and he's absolutely just enchanted by it. he says he'll never play anything else.

  • some very nice playing.

  • Is your guitar made out of all solid wood or not because I heard that the 100 and 200 series were laminate back and sides. Even if it wasn't solid wood, the tone and sound beats most that are solid! I got my eyes on a 214ce but is a little out of my league right now.

  • those series feature solid Sitka spruce tops and either laminated sapele or Indian rosewood back and sides, i think mine is actually rosewood, but i'm not certain.

  • sorry but in what tunning are you playing?

  • i use the DADGAD tuning almost always. it's great on a taylor, low, rich sound, and the elixir strings resonate so well. using certain tunings for certain guitars is like finding the right untensils for a chef. each chef is different, and there are certain tools that benefit his unique way of cooking. same with tunings. each guitar is different, and tunings can bring out the best in a certain instrument.

  • This guitar sounds really good, I ordered one on ebay about a week ago and it is supposed to get here today, I cant wait! It is the 114e just like the on in this video.

  • sweet, i have no doubt that you will fall in love with it all over again every time you pick it up. it's a brilliant little guitar, especially at such a modest price.

  • its as good as it gets,013martin ,gibsons etc. played them all, nearest ive got to that sound is an ibanez v300 with a heavier string, good luck great, simple playing!!!

  • How old are you? and How long you've been playing? Very nice. and Nice guitar too, though, I'm not a big fan of Taylor (I actually hate Taylors), but you made it sound great.
