  • These videos remind me of wwe wrestling where the guy just waits to get beat up. Come on, it's great to learn for self discipline or even as an art but your not sending anyone to the ER with it.

  • Are all your videos with the guy trying to give u a high five?

  • nicee i like the concept of aikido i think it can be used in a mondern day street fight ...but i want to use this technique myself at some time to confirm that it works in a street fight :D

  • ARE THEY WEARING A DRESS

  • this isnt a kubi nage can someone tell me what it is

  • you sound like kyle's cousin kyle from south park, el oh el

  • His pronunciation of japanese words makes my head explode with rage.

  • What is his Name?? Ronald Goblin??? Btw that is no real Aikido... Sry Mr. Goblin.

  • in real like who will come up to you with thir palm faciing you? xd

  • I WISH THERES AIKIDO IN PALESTINE !!!!

  • @DLDO3 no aikido!!! simpanthy from america!!

  • @DLDO3

first You have to wish there will be Palestine.

    (But there will be no)

  • SICK!

  • The shomenate attack is used instead of an karate-style punch because broken arms and mangled wrists makes it hard to keep a supply of ukes around. In street situations aikido (along with many "grappling" styles (like the jitsu styles) tends to be dangerously crippling.

  • *Sigh* I wish there was an Aikido school where I lived... ;_;

  • Is there an ACTUAL street fighting demo or competitive sparring video on youtube with aikido? I'm having a hard time determining if this should be taken seriously or not.

  • @BlueM0nk Aikido is a martial art based on the idea of not hurting your opponent too much. It was developed by a pacifist, it would not be a good technique for competitive fighting. You basically put your opponent on his ass and then try to get away from the situation. No one's going to knock you the fuck out with it, but an Aikido master would make you look like a clown as he deflected pretty much any attack you threw.

  • @Yfelsung Huh... Very interesting. Thanks man.

  • Sorry but even demonstrating the Sensei's i have trained with get Very annoyed if you do not attack properly and if you miss them they will just stand until you hit them so sorry but thats not an attack even if you are a begginer you should learn to attack properly otherwise you'll only be able to attack and defend like you were doing when you first started.

  • @Barlow991 in my school we were required to cross train in shotokan karate so we could use good atemi against our opponents (yoseikan budo). And yes, if the uke wasn't actually trying to hit you with real power, we didn't respond until they learned to make the attack realistic. That said, it's just a demonstration video, and the teacher's technique looks solid to me. This is for beginners.

  • is it true tht ur supposed to break ur thumb to learn aikido?

  • no one will attack like that....its only a demo....for us beginners to learn the technique...

  • really, who attacks like that? have some big mma or K1 guy swing and kick at you wildly and then will see how well that works. that uke is being nice and cooperative. lol :D

  • its because they doing demonstration for beginners ...

  • lol nobody will ever tell me to HALT! again

  • @mahleprechaunflute HAHAHAHAAHHAHAHAHAHA

  • @mahleprechaunflute lolololololol good one no but rlly wtf i dont think he was attacking i think he was showing his hand to him in my opinion

  • Unluckyly I don't have any means to learn aikido in New Jersey.

  • WHAT KIND OF ATTACK IS THAT

  • @snigglesthedestroyer

It's a demonstration-attack. Giving the beginners the idea on what to grab when the attacker for example charges at you with a full swing. Ain't that hard to picture it out even if you don't know anything of that martial art.

  • when would your attacker come at you like that giving you the chance to do the move? bs

  • @atg27111 this is a demonstration obviously.. Aikido is different from other martial arts, if you want punching and kicking, try Kickboxing or Tae-Kwon Do.. Aikido takes a long time to master but once you do, you would be able to apply this (or any other) move in a real fight depending on your opponent's position and movement... I dare you to attack a 5th dan black belt :)

  • I train aikido and this is bs ;)

  • looks kinda fake im doing jiu jitsu and been thinkin of takin up aikido but all videos i seen look fake i dont know anyone who will walk up with their hand out like that these days ppl swing

  • @SuperLONARDO What you do is, you block the punch, you grab the wrist or fist, you twist their wrist (Optional), place your hand behind the back of their head then turn fast. It's basically quick thinking. It takes a bit to practice but all of Aikido is applicable in real life.

    Also at the teacher.

YOU REALLY NEED TO RELAX YOUR SHOULDERS. You are way too tense.

  • interesting how this is a "beginner" move. not saying that it's not... we use techniques similar if not the same in our dojo... but i know that there are a lot of other more simple & more appropriate to "beginner", moves ^^ idk that's just my opinion, he's the expert

  • @moogamoogabrat I agree. the attack feels very beginner like, but technique is pretty advanced.

  • does that really works?

  • hes pretty good... but honestly you cant really learn much from a video..

  • is his hand up for safety measures of what?

  • interesting attacking technique XDXD

    :-D

how does it come that he's wearing a hakama?

  • @TonyDent84-yes they still teach it- in japan mostly, there is an aikido dojo in maryland that teaches it, this sensei- john goss sensei- found out where aikido came from and wanted to learn more, so he had kondo sensei, the current head of daito ryu, come to the u.s. and teach a seminar, he is the only one that i know of in the u.s. who is autorized to teach it, we learn the same art, among others at our dojo because a sensei had a falling out with the daito ryu and came to the u.s. and taught

  • aikido is a mere shadow of it's former self, which is daito ryu aiki jujutsu, daito ryu is truly martial, in that it was designed for war, and used in war, and it is still relevant and devastating in modern times

  • @maddog0408 how do you find out more information about that style? do they still teach it?

  • hmm, I am not saying this sensei isnt good but I think he keeps ppl too retarded... In the dojo where I train we did that from jab and it was pretty simple.. (also effective) I dont understand why to do it that unrealistic way, that makes me sad. :(

  • A gun works way better...

  • guns are for bitches that are scared to get up close and get blood on their hands and face.

  • Ya gotta go get it first!

  • @felixlinquist ... guns are a man made invention as in excuse to not be able to man up or be willing to defend your self...

  • @fcbigb funny how an off the cuff comment made 5 months ago still generates those primordial comparisons to being a man. Have a good one!

  • another lard ass useless martial arts instructor brought to you by "expert" village!

  • it works vs a guy throwing a haymaker well and drunks

but i dunno why the uke attacked like that that was awkward

but i mean shoot if Marion Barber came at me with a stiff arm id just use this for sure lol

  • damn, I do bjj and judo. I wanna do aikido also. I'm in-love with jiu-jitsu based arts. Martial arts for life.

  • where do I learn aikido?

  • I'm not sure you're capable enough to learn anything with a question like that.

  • james belongs to 4th ricch nazi.

  • The same technique works from almost every other attack, this "attack" is to show you slow people how to make the technique right. This is just beginner training (as the headline sais) =P

  • whothe fuck attacks with there arm out ive never been attacked with some1 walking with there arm at me wtf

  • Thats because in real life the attacking guy could be holding a weapon in that hand and they were giving an example.

  • i understand it was an example.....but even if they had a wepon i dnt get y tey would be walking with there arm out.....if i wer to attack sum1 with a knife i would be holding my arm out it would becloser to me

  • It's so funny how the fucking attacker walks towards the other... I've never seen such robot atack!!!..hahahaa

  • I have never seen a attacker walk like a cyborg before will it work in MMA

  • i am going to guess that a few or most of you have never studied any martial art. He was breaking it down to make it easy to see what he is doing.

  • @leykisfan1

    Finally a good comment.

  • I live in Miami, and if I find his school I am going to run at him full force and see if he is for real.

  • Make sure your arm is up and your hand is in the "STOP" position.

  • THAT IS THE "TALK TO THE HAND" ATTACK.

  • @Jujutsu4U2Cdirt and of course this is ''AMERICAN AIKIDO''.

In other words, if this guy can do this in a real fight I SWEAR I'll post my whole entire family naked on youtube.

  • I'd be interested to sit in on one of his classes to see if he actually teaches from proper attacks. The technique is sound but what is with the attack? I mean has anyone ever been attacked by someone holding his hand out in front of him? It's not just this technique either the other one I watched he used the exact same attack.

  • lol "oh no, it's the reaching out-attack" :) Seriously, the one thing that people often miss when watching and commenting videos is that techniques are very often shown in formal execution. In such training, no actual, or only formal, attack is carried out. The reason is this: Most techniques can be carried out in many different ways, in personal and situational flavors. In formal execution, we can focus on the particulars on a technique (what makes it work, why does it work and why doesn't it).

  • Also at the person saying you would get owned if the person knew how to punch with both hands is a bit of a moron. aikido is not a martial art based on a single technique, also this one would work fine from a double punch anyway. Also turning in a circle really doesn't work come to an aikido session and you will soon learn.

  • u morons with your negative comments need to grow up, your not as smart as you think you are.

  • no u

  • oh hai

    no u

  • this guy bastardizes marital arts in general.

and what an idiot he is for saying you hold the arm after they fall to absorb the shock of the fall.

    NO!

you hold the arm so u can BREAK it after he falls!

  • Uh I'll show you marital arts

    Get in here

  • i agree with cylleruion87..like the mans says the video is a move for a beginner, still a great move if you can execute

  • what a joke of a technique. anyone who knows how to stand, jump in a circle, or god forbid - punch with both hands - would rape the hell out of this technique.

  • Am I missing something?

  • Yes, his neck.

  • now I know what to do if I get attacked by a one armed zombie

  • *sigh* I grow tired of telling people that these attacks in Aikido aren't the end-all.

To learn at technique, you must learn the rudiments first. That means you can't come out swinging. The name of this video is "Aikido Moves for BEGINNERS". It shows the basics of the techniques. LATER, after you understand and can execute the movements, will you add the actual punches, as we do in my dojo.

  • dude literaly the guy looks like he limps up wen that happens

  • This is just crap! seriously no one would attack anyone like that!

  • BEGINNERS!?

  • actually, that technique would be successfull in similar attacks.

eg, a left hook or straight punch or even an uppercut.

Actually the uppercut defense would be harder to accomplish but would most likely break the arm.

So it would be effective if successful.

  • i agree, this technique would be successful if you would be attacked by a real person who really tries to hit you(And if you weren't a total retard like this guy). What I was saying was that no one would attack someone like that and it is therefore just stupid to practice techniques in such an unreal situation, if perfored correctly this move would definately work.

  • uh, you've never had someone charge at you? I know I have and using something similar to this, the guy nearly went through a store window. Think dude, think.

  • i know akido jyuken and bushido

  • ... how come i wasnt informed of any secret techniques.... = = theres nothing secret to the art.. O'sensei thought us everything he knew

  • right because that huge guy your training with couldnt possibly find the strength to prevent an old, out of shape man from spin him around like a doll.

  • a 72 year old Sensei can take a 20 year man on steroids without a problem, don't underestimate martial arts

  • well not really, alot of people say martial arts is what u saw in this video, but actually martial arts come from art, my sensei explained that when we have a tournament we present first with brick breaking, backflip deck braking et.. but he said that i will need a technique and not the art to defend myself. But it is true a 72 year old can take on a 20 year old steroid user. My past Dim-mak sensei who was 69 has been attacked by 8 thugs on Coney island, 7 survived 1 died

  • it is clear that he is breaking it down for us so that we could practice it to the point where we could apply it in different situations this is excellent, thank you.

  • wateva

  • Peace and harmony, he flipped him bad really bad, crash bang, aikido sucks and you know it.

  • Don't watch the video then.

  • watch how in every Aikido technique the attacker is always rushing towards the defender!!!! Why don't you show us what happens if he stops and starts punch combination???

  • c-c-c-combo breaker!!!

  • Dude, is that a Killer instinct reference!?

  • ROFL

  • you are

  • ROFL

  • you are

  • you are

  • i dunno man..id perfer judo or something.

  • judo wont be covering you when you are aganist a guy with baseball bat or knife i think would it ?

  • CAN WE PLEASE HAVE A REAL ATTACK? Too many people "attack" like robots in Aikido... If you do a Tsuki attack, you deliver a Tsuki, you dont present a flower!!! This will also help your partner to eventually train proper Aikido!!!

  • Aikido is a real martial art, but its true, an Aikidoka could probably never win against a trained karate or Jiu Jitsu guy.

Look how his partner is runing towards him, with his arm raised.. this would never happen in a fight.. "Hey hey, prepare yourself, I'm coming!!" :)

I think Aikido is more an Art and a philosophy than a fight sport.

  • i doubt about the sensei.

an trained aikidoka should be radiating peace and harmony. i'v probably never seen such a streched guy like him. look at his shoulders.

normaly you should keep them relaxed.

  • aikido can work with a novice but not with a trained karate or boxing guy

  • not true aikido is usualy used with other various martial arts such as jiu-jitsiu that's what i'm studieing

  • YEAH.. i think it's best combinations are with jiu jitsu and kendo..

  • Didn't they take his videos off because they found out he was a fraud? I know for a fact that his Kendo ones were a steaming pile of BS.

  • Yep DESU

  • exactly...these are basic movement exercises that can be applied later to various situations.

  • That is because you dont know anything about it

  • maybe cuz you suk at it or you just have no respect i've studied it for many years and alot of it really dose work you idiot

  • Aikido and dancin have abolutely nothing in common. But I can see why you say somthing like that after watching this idiot. If you want to see some real aikido in action search for Steven Seagal, even if he's a crap actor, he's good at aikido and he will definately demonstrate better than this jackass.

  • i actually dont kno 2 many ppl who attack other ppl w/ their arms straight out

  • its a concept..

    u have to start somewhere.

u cant just start throwing ppl that wont let u throw them,u have to get the technique right b4 u can really do it.

  • uhhh well. they're implying that someone is attacking you, like throwing a punch, or is wide open.
