I saw this game sitting on the shelf at Game Stop and I didn't think it looked that great. I was way wrong, this is a greatly made game in my opinion. I don't know about everyone else, but when I play this game and I'm trying to get away from those figures with axes, I feel like I'm really there, and when I'm out of bullets hauling ass away from them, I can feel what it would be like to be in that situation in real life. I never knew video-games could do that to you until I played this

@MUSICroid Yeah I just bought it yesterday. I haven't even gotten that far yet, I'm still trying to reach the gas station and it's already getting insanely scary and I love horror stuff. I know, I'm a pussy, but this is a true horror game and when those demonic, shadow-faced figures jump out of the darkness at me in random spots with those axes, it literally gives me butterflies and chills. I have to say this is the first video-game to do that to me. Not even Left 4 Dead gave me those feelings

@ShooterOfTheNight To be honest, there are parts where it'll freak you out and a lot of the time stuff doesn't happen when you think they will. You see most of the stuff that does come coming. You just play it for the story really, you don't even think about it as scary. Your just focused of getting to the end of the level to see if your questions for it are answered.

Haven't got to play Amnesia, and I've never played penumbra. I've been a fan of the Silent Hill series for the last 12 years though. Alan Wake is nothing about that. It's a horror-themed game and deserves to be in the genre, but it not toping any "top ten scariest" anytime soon. However, I freaking love this game and the trailler for the new one makes me nut in my pants. It's got an awesome, mind-numbing story and endearing characters.

@EmotionalVirtuosity Them two are two entirely different games. Silent Hill emmerges you into a claustrophobial urban environment and makes you seek escape.

This game is a nice alternative but not really as good as Silent Hill 2 and 3.

Anyway, it's up to you. I'm sure you'll find both games very entertaining. :)

However, I really suggest you find 2 and 3 for PS2 - it's in the original versions where they shine (plus it includes the orriginal voice acting, which is much better too)!

Alan Wake is easily one of the best games this gen. If you missed it, Metro 2033 was also a fantastic Xbox 360 game worth picking up on the cheap. Hopefully, M$ will allow AW2 to be made as they seem to be holding it back. It's not Remedy's fault the game was pirated 1.3 MILLION times on 360...O_o
