This was a pretty good film, but in God's name, WHY did that have to have Sandra Bullock SMOKE in it? It had ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with the story; there was absolutely NO reason to have this beautiful young woman play a DIRTY SMOKER!!
I used to date a woman who smoked, and every time I kissed her it was like kissing an ashtray. I finally gave her an ultimatum--her cigarettes or me.
0:57 made me hate this movie. that line killed the entire movie because all i could think about for the rest of the film was how that was the most improper english ever.
No, Jake talks to Ellen in the book about only men hang out with men and women hang out with women. The only time a man and woman can hang out is during work.
Ellen is in College and far too young for him. At this part in the book, I was sure they were going to have an affair, but they don't.
I loved both the book and the movie... I loved the book more because books usually ARE better than movies, but I LOVE BOTH and John Grisham is SUCH a good author!
P.S. My favorite from him is A Painted House. LOVE IT!!!!!! Unfortunately, I can't find that many clips on YouTube and I can't find the DVD. Hopefully I will, some day... :)
She was hot in this movie though!

She chose her cigarettes.

She totally wanted him in the book, he was loyal to his wife the whole way through.

she liked him but she knew he was married & he had respect to his wife so i wouldn't say an affair. They did like each other though.
