Some of these comments are just pathetic. I'm going to pull my hair out if I read one more person cry foul because the drawing was already done when the viideo began. Of course he doesn't show how he does the drawing from start to finish on youtube. That's what he sells subscriptions for on his website! How can people so completely miss the point :p

Hi Matt,

Do you take the photographs yourself? I like to draw these gals from life, but it costs the earth for models. Drawing from pictures is a copyright problem if you find the pics in magazines etc..

When drawing a portrait, do you have a preference for working from the outline in or hitting the details first, and working outwards. I've recently been told that my style of drawing the face (details first) is wrong, and that it'll come back to bite me when drawing multiple subjects. I've tried outline first and I just can't get a likeness; compared to going from detail to detail, the shape of the face as a whole just seems so overwhelmingly large. Thanks for answering; no worries if you don't.

Umm, that's a tough one, it's takes me a while to explain. A simple way is to draw the hair first using it for a frame for the face. Then work the interior face. I get into detail a lot with this on my portrait DVD. I hope this helps a bit.
