my mom had a 68 ford grand torino, it had a 351 with windsor heads, ran fast but only got like 6 miles to the gallon---downhill--- with the wind pushing it lol, guess you got to give up more gas for more speed.
@crob227 Windsors are small blocks (Same as the 302) Clevelands are big blocks. Why does this guy have a "Carter Thermobog" carb on it? Chrysler used those only on their 400-440 engines.
@bricub72 CLEVLANDS ARE not BIG BLOCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You are a block head!!!! Do your homework before you comment on shit.255,260,289,302,351 windsor.351c,351m,400m,these are ALL ford small blocks, the cleveland style heads just make the engine look large, but trust me,my WHOLE FUCKING FAMILY WORKED FOR FORD FOR YEARS,THEY ARE CERTAINLY NOT BIG BLOCKS.
@Jaytheozzi lol yeah the belts are a nightmare!. Rangie will be really happy with a electronic ignition and fuel injection overhaul, thats 99% of the problem wiht it.
@Aussie50 It is an Aussie built Cleverland engine, capacity could be either 302 or 351. Usually the 302's had 2 barrel carbs up until the XD series where both 302 & 351 were fitted with 4BBL carbs.
One way to tell for sure its to pull the sump and it will have either 302 or 351 cast into the crank. OR pull a plug and measure stroke 3" stroke is a 302 and 3.5" stroke is 351
Maybe a donor for your Range Rover if the Rover/Buick engine calls it quits. If it's like a 351 Cleveland it will eat a Chebby 350 for lunch if built right, the American Mustang Mach 1s and Cougars used those quite a bit.
@Aussie50 Are there any numbers engraved somewhere, like on a flat spot on the top of the engine, or near the bell housing, or near the oil filter? Sometimes there is a casting number cast onto the block that can tell you a few things as well. Unfortunately I'm not up on Ford V8s if it were a Chrysler V8 I could tell you, unless they did something weird in their Australian division with the way they were marked.
@OlegKostoglatov their are numbers on the front pass side of the block that put that engine in a Fairlane around 1972, but the capacity is hard to determin since they came out with 302's and 351's.
the engine in the vid was rebuilt by HM engines, so who knows what block/head combo they used, or how much re boring work was done
@Aussie50 From what I could find on google the engine casting numbers should be on the lower right hand side of the block, at least that may tell you what the displacement originally was once you decode it. Being a gearhead is fun isn't it?
3:28 sir, I think your engine needs a napkin... hes kinda... Leaking?

is this a 351 Windsor? or Detroit
BOBKB3NZX 1 year ago
@BOBKB3NZX No it's an Australian Ford so it might be a Cleveland style block, or at least one of the 335 series.
