  • He got so much pressure being a manager. he was a bench coach in the 90s with the mariners. I've met mclaren several times. he was nice then.

  • After Pat Gillick, Jack Zduriencik is the best GM the Mariners have had.

    Bavasi screwed Seattle over, Gillick understood what Safeco was built for; Speed and defense. Not these power charged freaks.

  • Yeah, Trader Jack is doing wonders! I was referring to Sexson, Beltre (although he is awesome), Boone, and all the other power hitters that came to Seattle.

    The only power hitter who would've had an ounce of success at Safeco would be Junior.

  • Gillick was an ok GM. Yes he built the 2001 record setting team but he was waaay too conservative in '02 and '03 and let those teams fall out of contention because he wouldn't pull the trigger.

    since Gillick has left his past 3 franchises (Toronto, Baltimore and Seattle) none of the teams have made it to the playoffs

    Gillick did what he needed to do to get into the playoffs, everything else was up to the manager, coaches and players

  • Trading Adam Jones, george sherrill and some other player for Erik Bedard. I never thought we'd see a trade worse than the heathcliff slocomb trade. I was wrong.

    Of course, Adam Jones is now an All star player.

  • Now, potentially, it could've been a great trade. But Erik Bedard proved to be fragile and George Sherrill and Adam Jones broke out with Baltimore

    What about the trade that Shin Soo-Choo to Cleveland for Ben Broussard and Eddie Perez.

    Choo is a great hitter and we don't have Broussard or Perez anymore.

    Why it took Chuck Armstrong so damn long to get rid of Bavasi is beyond me

  • GO MARINERS!!! fuck yah! except mclaren wasnt a very good manager. actuall hargrove was the manager that wrked best for us since lou, but poitics forced him to step down. We are unfortunatly gonna suck next year to i mean we have a team that kinda hates each other (ESPECIALLY BEDARD) and i dont say this with out evidence. i used to work for the mariners and if you read some credible blogs it will tell you about the same thing

  • Hardly anyone plays for the fun of the game, there all about the money. Only a few people would forfeit an extra million just to stay with their team. Not every team is lucky to have players like these. And who cares what our payroll is. We HAVE the money to spend, WHY NOT SPEND IT...it would be pointless to hang onto an extra 100 million if we could pay it out to get some good players.

  • Actually Seattle is a great place to live & the blame shouldn't be laid on John but rather on upper management who paid a bunch of money to get a pitcher & call him our ace after havin 1 good season, not all the M's are over paid just Bedard Sexson & Beltre are every1 else either pulls their weight or doesn't have an enflamed salary. Seattle needed to keep having fun like last year but u cant do that when u get a giant ego movin n & a our rally starters leavin. & our woman r sexy here u NY Fagit

  • It's pretty sad. Coming in to the season experts, and myself included, predicted that the Mariners would win the AL West. All of the pieces were in place and ARE in place, but there's something going on that we don't know about.

    How can Beltre be hitting .222 and Sexson around .210? I remember when we signed these guys back to back days a few years back. Beltre had just hit 40+ HR's with a .334 avg. Sexson was a consistent 40 HR guy. We traded for Bedard this year.

  • Bavasi is the worst. Mclaren is a decent manager. His coaching staff is one of the best.  Our bandage fix approach is the worst. I'm sorry to Wilkerson, Cirillo, Sexson, Vidro, Everett, Washburn, Batista, and whoever else wants to sign on this team for big bucks....the Bavasi needs to go.

  • The team is a complete mess because of the general manager, one of the worst if not the worst in the league. He is the one who signed all of these mediocre players, often to big contracts. The saddest thing is he thought the team would have a chance to win the division when all the M's bloggers thought otherwise.
