I think he's wrong. I mean, my dad just passed and when I hold my reborn I feel peaceful; just like holding a real child. It can be a healer for some people. And you don't "play" with them. They are to hold, take pictures of, getting reactions with, feel young again with, or do videos of. It's a very unique hobby, yes, but it's a HOBBY. It's just like collecting collector sport cards or hats or jerseys. These are collectible dolls, not toys.

I watched a channel 4 documentry where an old woman who collects them said, "I think all women love babies, they say they dont, but all women do." I'm an artist I paint on canvases with oil or acrylic paint. I'm also a crafter too. I like carving totem poles to memorialize the 19 yrs. I lived in Alaska, and also make dreamcatchers. I love to mold with clay. I also reborn dolls as well and I find it no differant then painting an oil painting. It's a work of art and it came from me. Collecting dolls is not wierd, the people who find it wierd or creepy are the ones with unline issues.

I've been looking at reborns ever since people were painting them with stencil paints and ink pads(LOL) and they have REALLY come a long way. Still not able to afford them...for the people that have more than like 5(if you didn't make them yourself)...why? what's the point in that? I would love to get one eventually, but to have them pile up in your house is a bit strange to me.

But I've seen documentaries of people who pretend as though one of these is their child and they buy all the accessories: clothes, stroller, crib, car seat, the body baby carrier etc etc etc. They act like it's a real baby and they talk to it, cradle it, try to "comfort it". @flowerpower1nr1 I don't think they're creepy at all--I just bought my first reborn and am having alot of fun with her. I think you have to be a "doll person" to really appreciate these, though. They really are a work of art, different from any other doll. The nice thing is that it's like having a real baby without the fuss, and then when you're busy or want to focus on other types of dolls, you can just set them down wherever you want--unlike a real baby.

My mom used to have a friend that made life-like porcelain dolls, I got to make one of myself modeled after a baby picture of mine (I know, weird), but it was honestly really fun and you can make A LOT of money off of them.

some people do extreme sports, some have a heaps of pets, some collect stamps, are completely absorbed in history, there are people who obsess over their kids sports teams, buy too many clothes, play computer games all night...
I dont see what the problem is. Its a good creative hobby/activity. There is such a thing as women who love babies and then when they get older and can no longer have them, they still feel that little girl within themselves, so they nurture it by playing with dolls as adults. There is like this whole culture in Britian of men who collect and play and build train sets and have like whole attics redone just to accomodate their playground for this need. One thing i really dont like about Dr Phil is he is SO QUICK to jump on someone for being different and to judge them. Yeah some "support" he gives. I think the dolls are adorable, and she is right they are a work of art. There is nothing wrong with having a hobby, an artistic hobby that makes them any everyone who comes around them HAPPY! I don't have any of these dolls, i just came across this video. i wouldnt mind owning one, they are very sweet looking, and you dont have to change diapers

Doll collecting, cool. But I've seen documentaries of people who pretend as though one of these is their child and they buy all the accessories: clothes, stroller, crib, car seat, the body baby carrier etc etc etc. They act like it's a real baby and they talk to it, cradle it, try to "comfort it". They'll take them everywhere they go and try to pass it off. Now that's just delusional and creepy.

@flowerpower1nr1 I don't think they're creepy at all--I just bought my first reborn and am having alot of fun with her. I think you have to be a "doll person" to really appreciate these, though. They really are a work of art, different from any other doll. The nice thing is that it's like having a real baby without the fuss, and then when you're busy or want to focus on other types of dolls, you can just set them down wherever you want--unlike a real baby.

My mom used to have a friend that made life-like porcelain dolls, I got to make one of myself modeled after a baby picture of mine (I know, weird), but it was honestly really fun and you can make A LOT of money off of them.

This episode of Dr.Phil upsets me......I'm a person who has been trying to conceive a child for many many years and I still pray God blesses us but I'm in the process of ordering my 1rst kit to recreate me a reborn newborn sleeping baby....I pray this process of baby making helps comfort me because I have NO children!!!

There's hobbies....and there's some women who do this reborn thing who are completely insane. I'm sorry, but if you have a tragedy like losing your child, getting a doll made that looks exactly like them is NOT the way to resolve your emotional damage. Also, I'd be pretty creeped out if my mother bought a doll made to look like me as a baby and spent all day dressing it up.

I dont see what the problem is. Its a good creative hobby/activity. There is such a thing as women who love babies and then when they get older and can no longer have them, they still feel that little girl within themselves, so they nurture it by playing with dolls as adults. There is like this whole culture in Britian of men who collect and play and build train sets and have like whole attics redone just to accomodate their playground for this need. I see them as producing viable nice dolls.
