My pristine "62" Champ sounds like it's on steroids. When playing in a full band situation have been asked to turn it down. I have used it on a recent recording project and it sounds HUGE, the detail exquisite. I did a track of power chords with a Tele and did two harmony tracks using a PRS and it sounded outrageous. I got the amp in Northern British Columbia in pristine condition with the original tubes which I took out and put aside and changed with Groove Tubes. I can't wait for a blues gig!
first off i think 1000.00 bucks is a joke for this amp. waste of money. 2nd i think it sounds like shit.. i'd rather have a bugera v5 for about 80% less than this shit box goes for.
SHANE, At 1.42 what riff are you playing, I really dig that tune man, I heard you play it with the hot rod deluxe with speaker cab, cheers from the UK
I remember the first time I played through one of these. My first thought was "That sounds pretty good," and my second thought was "For the same price I could get so much more." Still a sweet little amp--if I saw one used for $300, I'd be $300 poorer.
@slpplexi1969 That's great if you happen to be in The Rolling Stones & are playing massive stadiums every nigh, but for a bedroom or the living room..I'm thinking a 5 watt monster will do..a grand or not
@Zevonfan524 I wasn't saying that you had to get a 100 watt amp, but for $1000 you can get a lot more than this. If you bought a Champ clone from Ceriatone or a Weber kit or something it would cost less than half of this. And the Rolling Stones actually use this amp.
This dude has some weird ticks when he plays (dipping the headstock and raising the body, laying the guitar flat, bending his wrist awkwardly, etc.) but nevertheless I'm sold on this amp.
Thats how you can get different sounds! My Fender Strat sounds killer when the pickups are pointed straight at the ground! Its damn near impossible to play it that way!
I ordered one from my local music store. I should have it in a couple of weeks. I'm like a little kid, I just can't wait. I own an older strat. When I get my hands on that little tone box, I'm gonna play the living hell out of it!
i heard a rumor that in some very small quite towns in america u can still find original strats from the 50's and 60's for like 250$-350$. i heard that there are alot of small guitar shops where the the ppl selling it have no idea what they have. if anyone else have heard about this rumor or can confirm it to being fact please let me be the first to know
He's a great player (you don't get a gig like that unless you are) . A good friend of mine works for Fender high-up in corporate - you don't get to be the 'national' anything unless you've got your $hit together - there are 100,000 people in line. This dude has responsibility you could not even imagine.
Ha ha ha. He's actually the marketing manager for Fender! ie a business type who speaks on Fender's behalf. What do you do for a living? Think before you criticise, man. He plays guitar just fine and has lots of other skills to do his job.

That tiny little amp for a thousand dollars? Your kidding me right? Pesos maybe, but not American dollars.
DirtyCityMick 10 months ago
apperently people complain about the price until they plug into this thing, then it becomes a tonal awakening so i gotta try one of these

1k is a lot for a small amp, but this is still the cheapest hand wired amp I've seen so far
stretch90 11 months ago
@stretch90 Ceriatone. $1000 can get you a hand wired 100 watt head.

I sense some Layla in there! I don't blame you, it's a great song, plus this was the amp Eric used on the recording.
I don't care how many people say it's overpriced, I want one. With an American Vintage '57 Strat in Surf Green, please :B

@EJRocky It's over-priced

Too much distotion at high volumes, unlike the originals---why mike it? Like to hear the pure sound.

The amp might be fine, but I don't think the way it sounds here is a selling point.
