Oh my gosh ... I just realised ... does Aslan kill that guy? I hope he just scares him off. Otherwise it's just not Aslan. He never kills anyone, does he? Except the White Witch .. and that's different.
Yeah, but I always took that in a rather more "spiritual" sense ... not really actually eating. Anyway, my original worry is unfounded ... I always thought that Jill never quite "got" Aslan's meaning when he said that.
For what ever reason I can't copy links on my comment even if it is a YouTube link. Oh Well. This has nothing to do with Narnia, but looking back at some of your videos, I noticed that you're a "300" fan. Just type 305 in YouTube's search. It's a parady of "300", but it's done in "The Office" spirit. Very funny.
one thing i'm really curious about was: who do u think it was standing next to caspian when the witch's glass/ice shattered? u didn't pause long enough 4 us 2 tell. it doesn't look like any hag i've ever seen, so who is it?
I think they borrowed a bit from another New Zealand-filmed show when it comes to the River god sequence. He looks almost exactly like Poseidon in the Xena:Warrior Princess series and there is a shot in the show's opening credits that is a reflection of the River god shot. Does anyone out there know what I'm talking about?
They needed a bridge because they were seriously afraid of any body of water. I think the bridge was put in by Lewis to communicate that. Although, practically, there is no need for the bridge, they did it so they could stay out of the river.
Plus, I'm not going into a river with an angry river god, are you?
Then what do the girls mean by "again"? Also, when Bacchus destroys the bridge, Lewis said "Bacchus and his people splashed forward into the shallow water, and a minute later..." That was before the bridge was destroyed, and the water was shallow. On top of that, even, it is never said the the bridge was washed away, only destroyed.
[]I always thought the bridge also worked as a dam until it fell.[]
Well, that is likely what he was getting at, but that would make one side, at least, shallow while the bridge was still up. The Telmarines could just as easily cross on the downstream side which would render the bridge function just as useless as before. That is, of course, unless the Telmarines have an irrational fear of water...
[]I always thought "again" meant it was a ford in the old days, hundreds of years before.[]
Before the bridge was built, I agree. Come to think of it, the dam scenario does seem to work in the story, although it does not particularly explain why a bridge was necessary to cross the river. Like I said, there would still have been a ford on one side.
I think that the bridge was a representation to show us that the river god was like in prision. When Aslan wakes him, he says "loose my chains", meaning that he was kinda left captive or something...
If you like that, you should get a hold of the Focus on the Family Radio Theatre Prince Caspian Radio Drama. The werewolf's voice in that gives me the creeps! It's great!
There is a room in my church where the walls are painted blue, so I just used that. And, when I look back, I'm actually looking at another laptop off screen that is playing the trailer.
Um, did you see the trailer where Peter was talking to Edmund and he said something like "What happens to us back home if we die here?"
And I know you mentioned this quote somewhere in your recent videos, but there was a trailer on TV (Canada) and I was wondering f you had seen it. :\ I tried looking for it on youtube, but I couldn't find it.
I read somewhere yesterday, maybe on narniaweb, that the end scene is the Telmarines and Narnians celebrating together in a village, so maybe there is hope that it doesn't end with the battle.
Good analysis of the trailer. I too am wondering where Edmund is when the ice breaks, though he could be off screen throwing something, or on the other side of the ice: that could actually be pretty cool, if caspian and peter are standing horrified in front of the witch only for the glass to break to reveal Edmund standing in front of the stone Aslan.
Though what do you think of Peter being in the circle in that picture?
I never thought of that, the ice sort of flowing over aslan. I knew he was in the background, but you definetely have a good eye for that sort of thing man.
Wow, you are very good at observing things! All those things like the Bulgy bear and Wilmbleweather I didn't know was there until you pointed them out. Bulgy Bear looks SOOO cute!!
ok, so here's what i think. the shot of lucy and aslan(roaring) was somewhat inches away from the camera, that's why aslan looked a bit smaller. in the superbowl spot the camera was probably closer to lucy and aslan.
how? because if we see the shot of lucy and aslan in the trailer # 2, the camera moves slightly closer to lucy and aslan.
So Mr. Glumpuddle, I have a question for you?? Why in the world do you think the animation sucks??? I thought it was very solid!!! The Aslan shot when he attacks the guard!!! WOW! The trailer was really short though! What's up with that?? After giving it some thought, the 'teaser' trailer seemed more like the official trailer and this new one seemed more like the teaser, yeah? and the water god sequence looks incredible! I love your videos!!! You rock glumpuddle.
The trees looked a little "Wizard of Oz" like. I had the same complaint with Treebeard in LOTR. I guess it is difficult to make trees look real in an itinerant way. Hopefully when we see the whole scene it will look better. I forward a video of yours (#45 because it is my favorite) to a friend. She is not an over the top fan of Narnia like I am, but she loved it. She says you should be a professor of literary arts because you're very good at teaching. I agree! Can't wait for #63.
You seem a little more positive about the trailer in this video than you did in your last one. Did you like the trailer better the second time you watched or something?
The first time, I was disapointed because it was short, and there weren't any new spoilers. I wasn't disapointed with how the movie looked, I was just disapointed with the trailer itself.

Hi GPuddle, I've enjoyed your video blog and I
hope you continue for VDT. You asked (perhaps
rhetorically) about the need for a bridge at the
Fords of Buruna in the movie, I assumed that it
was needed to allow the Telmarine army to bring
their trebuchets to Aslan's How....

ThatChristian 3 years ago
In the book, there is a practical need for the bridge (as far as we know). Lewis never says the water isn't deep.
GPuddle 3 years ago
Actually, he said it was built on the FORDS of Beruna. (Lucy said: "It's the Fords of Beruna again!") A ford is a shallow section of a river.
ThatChristian 3 years ago
But before that, the water wasn't shallow. It became the Fords of Beruna after the bridge was washed away.
GPuddle 3 years ago

You're going to have to help me out here then. What chains are being loosed? I always thought the bridge also worked as a dam until it fell.

To sum it all up, no matter what the bridge was like, the Telmarine's use of it is equally irrational.

I think that the bridge was a representation to show us that the river god was like in prision. When Aslan wakes him, he says "loose my chains", meaning that he was kinda left captive or something...

Well, by chains he did mean literally the bridge, but we're more talking about why the bridge was built by the Telmarines in the first place.
