I would just like to mention to all those people that are complaining that getting jumped over is a foul that 1) just by looking at the video it was pretty clean and B) if someone jumped over me in a game and caught the disc I wouldn't call a foul, I would give them a high five. Now I would like to criticize one thing about this video... if you are putting together beau and retarded it should be beautarDed not beautarTed. DUH!
I wouldn't call it because it's awesome, but technically, jumping over someone would be a foul, even if you don't touch them. You're entitled to your space including the column of space directly above your head and jumping through that would certainly be a foul.
@mkeefe7 i know its 11 moths ago but here is the rule straight from the UPA
The Principle of Verticality: All players have the right to the space immediately above them. Thus, a player cannot prevent an opponent from making an attempt on a pass by placing his/her arms above an opponent. Should contact occur, the player restricting the vertical area is responsible.
also means u cant jump above them if they could jump themselves and go for the disc. no to take anything away from beau who's awesome
@tukaberry even if that is the case, you got owned take it lol. i'm not gonna be the rule dick in that instance, dude made a good play. move on, but i definitely agree it is a foul
@biblicalsoultaker definitely contact there... albeit he didn't really have a shot at the disc at the time... i'd probably call it still. can't get position on someone by taking away their position with contact.
@biblicalsoultaker Correct that it's not a foul, it is however against the rules. :) Instead of calling "Principle of Verticality" I would just say foul and anyone who actually pays attention to the rules would know what i am calling.
When the guy in the black jumps for the disc Beau is directly above him, stopping him from jumping, so that would be a violation of the principle of verticality.
This is true, however, because the guy he jumped over didn't really attempt to jump until Beau was in front of him and after the disc was caught, the foul call could have at least been disputed.
the other guy didn't have position on the disc before or after beau skyed him. and there was no contact made that would affect the outcome of that catch. regardless, its up to the player to call it himself. so call, no foul.
i do think you need to watch where you're going but, when you jump you really loose all control of your path of travel.
when you're watching the frisbee it's hard to notice other people, i've knocked peolpe over by accident, i always feel bad but people are usually cool about it.
yeah usually its unintentional, im gonna do everything i can to get to a disc and usually tracking it you can't really see whose around you so if you jump into someone its tough to have avoided, at least without missing the disc completely
...which is why, when I play with guys who consistently play through other players instead of around them...I will make it a point to play through them until they start respecting other people's position on the field, and the need to avoid injuring people. I notice it's usually the bigger guys who believe that they can play through other people's bodies when they 'track the disc'.. So I think it's completely fair to knock f*cking crap out of them for doing it. Spirit of the game, and all.
Do Not Read This. You will be kissed by the love of your life on the nearest friday. However if you dont post this on three other videos you will die in 2 days.
yea... i'm pretty sure that after catching the frisbee by jumping over another person's head all the rules get thrown out the window, and they rightfully should be violated.
Technically, you're wrong. A violation occurs when a player "does not stop as quickly as possible before establishing a pivot." You can't argue that was as quickly as possible. His first two steps were going for a pop-out, avoiding the travel if he "catches the disc and releases a pass before the third ground contact." After two full strides he realizes that he can't do this; only then does he begin to slow down. Not likely to be called, but obviously and technically it is a travel.
And don't forget the huge travel by Beau as he moves his pivot foot 2 feet so that he can have better balance on his throw. This is even more egregious than the throw to him.
beau is a pathetic handler. his pivot foot moved more than a foot on the throw. as for the ups, yeah, he's got it, but why dont you ever see him skying people like kurt gibson or freshman brody smith of florida? i watched the uf-colorado game live, and you wouldve never guessed this "legendary" beau was there. several UF players had impressive skys though. beau is just overrated. his game has nothing on kurt gibson or maybe dylan tunnell from UGA. maybe even some guys from wisconsin!
travel yes, but honestly, who was watching his feet at the time? Bet he is happy the dude under him didn't jump late... now that would have been a party foul.
Jumping at frisbees would further your life more than watching videos of other people jumping at frisbees and commenting about it. Obviously, your time is very valuable.
hahah, beau kitteridge is an absolute monster. i watached the game btwn the mamabirds and brownian motion, hes totally unstopable. too bad they lost in 05. goodluck to them next yr :p

Pretty cool that he can jump that well, but not only was the a travel on the huck, its a blatant fowl on the jump. Verticality and all that.
Kingtut87 3 years ago
what foul are you seeing exactly?
the other guy didn't have position on the disc before or after beau skyed him. and there was no contact made that would affect the outcome of that catch. regardless, its up to the player to call it himself. so call, no foul.
