Once, i was in a Otis Compass system, and some kid pressed a lot of floors like 9,10,15,19,22,26,27,30,42! This was the elevator at the Swissotel Chicago! They changed some to Otis. Very few are Montgomery Twinkie-M.
Never seen a keypad for what I assume is the call station. What would happen if you pressed [2] [4]? I'm pretty new to the elevator enthusiast scene, so am not quite up to date on these fancy Schindler Miconic units
Gotta love that clap fast response from the keypad. Also, with the handicap button, no holding the door for stupid people, no stopping at every floor.
So, when you are arrived at the elevator lobby, you would notice something like this:
- Up arrow lights -> letters A,B,C,D,E,F,...
- Pushbuttons -> Keypad with small display to guide to those elevators.
You just key in the floor that you want into the keypad, and you just walk to an elevator with the letter marked as the same as it displayed after you key-in your floor, and you get in an elevator, without any floor buttons, and then you just press "close door" and the elevator takes you there.
I told you these were unlocked!! The Miconic 10 system is so efficient and just plain awesome! The keypads are just like the Marriott Marquis NY. And I wonder if the door open/close, and alarm buttons really are Epco buttons, becuase I didnt know Epco does destination dispatch jobs. But they do use the traditional Schindler indicator. And I alos think these are 500A, since there is only 23 floors while the Marriott is 45, and those are 7000. Anyways, great video!
I'm not sure whether or not the door open/close and alarm buttons are EPCO or not, but even if they are, it doesn't mean EPCO had anything to do with the destination dispatch system, it just means they supplied the buttons.
KONE does make destination dispatch, its called the POLARIS system. The buttons are only used to indicate the floors being stopped at, they can be pressed but will not work. They only work in special service modes.
There hydraulics are very good, its the care they go through. If people don't take good care of the elevators, they break down and become crappy. They do make pretty decent hydraulics. I LOVE the sounds that the holeless hydraulics make.
You say there hydros are good, EVERY one I rode was a piece of shi*. I've rode older Otis hydros that work better. And dea41396returns filmed a BRAND new Schindler hydro and it was noisy and creaky as hell. Im sorry but you must be dreaming, Otis makes better hydraulics.
The only things that prohibit elevator filmers from high rise buildings is security guards checking ID cards, or the fact that the building lobby has turnstiles in it. But otherwise, as long as one acts normally and dresses in business attire, they can film the elevators.
The star button is the main floor, in this case the lobby.
The minus button is used to go to floors below the ground, like the basement. In other countries, the lobby is floor 0, and the basement would be Floor -1.

many buildings are changing their elevators to Miconic 10s because of waiting times.

Turnstyles dont mean security. It's all an illusion. Turnstyles are Un-American and dont belong here, except in subways and transportation.

Why do you press the hanicap and asterisk buttons? What do they do?
revo8778 2 years ago
Handicap button gets you a private or less crowded elevator, and the asterisk button equals the main floor.
musicfreakcc 2 years ago
@musicfreakcc Which button is the asterisk button?
clarkloveselevators 1 year ago
@clarkloveselevators That one sends you to the main floor.
musicfreakcc 1 year ago
@musicfreakcc Oh! Thanks! I found one, but I don't remember what building had Miconic 10... =(

The Marriott Marquis videos get so boring. Nice job finding this one! Pretty sure this is the first non-Marquis Miconic 10 system to be filmed! =)

There is a 20ish floor AT&T building in Midtown Atlanta that has Miconic 10, although getting in there might be quite a challenge.

Finally a good video of a Miconic 10 system. Very well designed system.
