I truly believe that if Ronnie Coleman comes back he'll easily dent the top 6. If he doesn't is a different story, but c'mon guys we're talking about 8 time Mr. Olympia...Do you guys remember the controversy that went on throughout those 8 years? All the critics talking endless crap? and what did Ronnie do...Shut them all up, every single time. At this point you can't really "speculate" or "judge him"....if he says he's comin back then best believe he will, remember.....LIGHT WEIGHT BABY!!!
I'm dejected that it was so noticable in his last Olympia. Even a nonfollower of bbing could look and be like what's up with that dude's left tricep?? So I just don't know. The disparity was like 15 years difference in the left and right side developementally.
Chimpa2340, BIG hats off to you there bro! Comin back from injury is always a big stress on both body AND mind, but at the age of 53 WELL DONE!! Just hope in another 27 years ive still got my 20' arms and triangular lats!
Heath in 09, but watch out for kai, he could come from out of nowhere and snatch it up. Can't forget about wolf, or Branch, this Olympia will go down in history as one of the best ever!
Continued: I wonder if peoples bodies can actually be 'done' wiht bodybuilding, Ronnies looked that way in 07, but hey, so did Jay's, but just look at the way Jay looked in 08, I'm not saying Jay deserved 2nd, which in fact, I think Phil Heath won the Olympia hands down, but Jay looked alot more healthy in 08, I think over-conditioning is what makes bodybuilders looke 'done' with bodybuilding. We've yet to see a bodybuilder come back and 'win' in there older age.
Continued # 3: Ok Ok, now I sound like one of those riduculous bodybuilding fan boys who have zero ounces of muscle on them, speaking only of what he reads in magazines, which I'm not, although I'm sure some of you would like to argue about that, anyways. What i'm trying to get at is I hope Ronnie can comeback and snatch his 9th, I would definitely like to see 'if' he can do it, because we really don't know, if he can, just like Dexter winning the O, it will open a whole new chapter for BB.
Ronnie has irrepairable nerve damage. Getting his left lat, basically his entire left side back to peak fullness is probably more complicated than Ronnie will be able to figure out. He's 46. He needs 2 more years to fix his problem, which is irrelevant because his aging body won't let that happen. But I'm still hoping.
fst7 is just what the old school bodybuilders did (lifted s heavy as possible change routines and go to failure every work out )nothing new here all you have to do is read and do your homework on the human body and how it builds muscle and be consistant with eating rest and your workouts duh...
I personally can't pick whether or not I want Jay Cutler, Phil Heath, or Kai Greene, I like them all, If I were to judge it fairly, I think Phil Heath will win, I thought He should have won the 08 Olympia, he is simply the best, I thought he was even more defined than Dexter, but I guess you have to be they're in person, cause to me, Jay looked grat in the Olympia video. I want Ronnie to come back in the best shape ever. Anybody catch Ronnie and Jay workout in Flex Magazine. Awe inspiring.
No offense but Ronnie is done, he needs to quit while he's behind! Don't hate, Dorian Yates said the same thing in MD magazine, everyone knows it's true but no one wants to admit it.
ChrisXMetal, as anyone would say, age has little to do with bodybuilding, I mean, what would you say if Ronnie Came back and won hands down? Would you just crawl into a hole and never speak to anyone again? Ha, Just kidding. The only thing I have to say is that in 07Ronnie Looked absolutely horrible, he was trying to come as dry as possible so he could win, but he lost alot of muscle. His conditioning was slowly dropping in previous years. Some say that peoples bodies can be 'done' with BB.
Continued Part 2: We've seen Arnold come back and win, of course that was highly questioned but he was just about 2 pinches off from normal in the size and mass category, but he was still 'Arnold'. Lou Ferrigno came back 'way' older and completely OBLITERATED the image of his former self, sure he was 'still' second, but he was 'still' second after 2 decades, Sergio Oliva came back and was still 'Sergio' but he did look pretty bad, Ed Corney kept his same look for along time also, which is great.
Agreed with everything you said, but looking at fairly recent pics of Ronnie, his lat is still jacked. I certainly believe people can be "done" with bodybuilding as you say. Your body can only take so much punishment especially in the form Ronnie has inflicted upon himself. This is only pure speculation but unless he can bring a 2002 Ronnie to the stage I do believe he is finished.
The only thing I see in recent picks of Ronnie is that he is out of contest condition, as with any bodybuilder out of contest condition, they look grizz-oss! They are probably in better shape than any guy in our gyms but still. Recently Dexter, Jay, Ronnie, Victor, I think Kai, and Branch did a guest posing, and the normally ripped to shreds were non- ripped to shreds. Like you said about Ronnie going through punishment, you think it's the joints that are done or even the muscles themeselves?
He is out of contest shape but a lot of his muscle has atrophied. If you watch fairly recent training videos of his, he isn't nearly as strong as he used to be. I would say with the pinched nerve in his left lat, and the level of intensity he has exerted over the years in the gym it is a mixture of a few things. Joints, muscle, and just plain age catching up. A lot of these newer guys are younger, might lack the muscle maturity but again I think age a lot of times makes the difference.
I think your body is done when your joints are shot, so you can't lift heavy weight to get the much needed tension in the muscles, I don't think an actuall 'muscle' can be done, unless like you said, injured, 'atrophied'. Ronnie says he has just been maintaining , and will start training 'all out' 6 months before the Mr. O if he finds that he will be competing, from what I see, I think he is losing muscle, but like Kevin Levrone, maybe it's better to go all out shortly than puss out year round.
i think ronnie has had sufficient time off to let his injury heal and he will continue to let it heal. theres word of him doing the '10 olympia so if he can work on conditioning, we all know he has freaky genetics and a whole lotta muscle maturity. he can still pull off a win but he has to be 150 percent in it. heath cutler kai vic--they are all hungry and a lot younger..so we'll see.
Yea, I'm not an Expert on the 1980 Olympia. Arnold did come in lighter, he nailed his conditioning though. But alot of the times back then, no one came in 'shredded' like today, with the vascularity, alot of what was considered shredded was slim and flat.
woo first, i just started using fst-7 a few days ago, im still sore :p im tryna eat as much as i can so i dnt overtrain/undereat, p,s phil heath for the Mr.O woo
