i lost 10lbs from 2 days water fasting, when i started eating again i only put 3lbs back on 6 weeks on and im still 7lbs lighter, didnt lose any strength in the gym and didnt appear to have lost fat but my gut feels so light and less bloated its amazing, even 36 to 48 hours off food can do you the world of good.
He lost me when he said you have to be under medical supervision ! Really? I'm sure every can afford to go to some uber expensive new age doctor just so he can tell you something even the pheasants knew ages ago.
@alneff This is not bogus...ive done 45 water only fasts ....nothing whotever to do with a vegatarian diet....study water only fasting, i hope it helps your daughter to get better..
how do you water fast without losing weight, i already weigh 115, im just trying to get my blood pressure down and finally rid myself of blood pressure meds, thinking about going on a water fast for like 3 days and see how i feel.
@roygib09 - don't worry about losing weight water fasting. Especially if you're only doing 3 days. As soon as you start eating again, all the weight will come flying back on
yes i've done quite a few long water fasts, the longest was 40 days, you just have to educate yourself enough to know that its safe, and don't try and convince other people, its a personal quest which will give you amazing results in every area of your life
this month is the month of Ramadan. Millions of muslims are fasting, abstaining from food and water from early in the morning untill sunset for the whole month.
@illidin25 This is not (True Fasting) Ramadan means you can still eat certain times of the day... Water Fasting (Water only) Is a serious fast!!!! No comparison..NO FOOD!!!
Water fasting is legit. I started doing it regularly for religious/spiritual reasons and soon discovered very positive effects on my physical well-being.
Im starting my water fast today. ive never done a long term water fast before but ive only fasted for nomore than a week and im planning on fasting for 3 weeks. I know i can do this and i have my reasons for this water fast and this will be a great expirience. Thank you for this information it was very useful and i can use this info in the long run.
@fandjshow1 I'm starting one too. If it's your first one, don't set your sights too high. Even 24 hours is a good start. And carbonated water helps with hunger discomfort. Just a quick tip.
I did 17 days on just water and finished five weeks ago. So far I'm seeing really good results: weight loss, no migraines, amazingly lower blood pressure, better digestion and food tastes amazing. I am continuing to stay off dairy, meat, flour, sugar, oil and salt. It can take a while to get your energy back though.
I did a 7-day common fast (no food, just water, no pills, vits, meds). the bumpy patch under my skin went from 2 inches wide to 1 inch and the shapes went from pea gravel to pop rocks. I would do it again.
I have done many 10 day 15 and the longest was a 21 day distilled water fast. They really are wonderful. The trap is keeping yourself from slipping back to the old habits. Processed food is fast and easy...and a fast and easy way to die. I am gearing up now to do a 40 day fast which has been a long term goal of mine for many years! It is sad that there are very few people you can share the fasting experience with most people freak out and think you are going to die. I keep it to myself mostly.
I know this might be a dumb question.. but when he says sugar, does he mean even cutting down on natural sugars? Such as various frutis? I recently became vegan, and feel as if I might be eating too many high sugar fruits, high fat fruits. Is this possible?
I water fast occasionally and this guy is right on point. Everything he said is the truth. Remember, food companies know that the stuff they put in food makes you fat. They know this and want you to be fat. They want you to be addicted. Coca-Cola still puts coca leaf extract in their drink to make people addicted.
@pedanpontif That is very true. I recently heard about the Coca Cola issue and was ticked. Now they're even trying to pass a bill that makes it illegal to grow your own food. It's clear that our government is working against us.
I am towards the end of my 8th day of water fasting & it is no easy process but for me it is harder to not smoke. I am a cigarette smoker & have been for 15yrs of 1 - 1 1/2 pack of menthols a day. I am not under supervision, matter fact my doc doesn't even know so what should I look for as far as danger signs? Like when I should break my fast before anything bad might happen?
@deadsnoman Yeah you're right but I wasn't aware of that in the beginning but my heart did begin to feel weird which made me quit while I continued my water fast for a total of 23 days (really wish I could had went 40 days) but I never did go back smoking =) I have not smoked now for a total of 4 months & 1 day!!!! Water Fasting helped me to quit smoking & that was a miracle in it's self cause I never thought I'd ever quit. It wasn't easy though I must admit. Smokers understand.
I water fasted at True North for 12 days and wished I had more time to fast longer, it was a wonderful experience, Dr Goldhamer and staff were great in many ways. I was surprised how easy this was to do, with their professional guidance (would certainly not do so long on my own).
Others fasting longer - 30 plus days, a real reset to the tastebuds, etc. I lost 25 lb. I look forward to doing another supervised water fast. when possible, I'm in Texas, wish I knew a facility in my locale. THX
my 12 day water fast was during my total of a 21 day stay @ True North, Santa Rosa, CA. These extra days were instrumental in that I eased into this fast by eating their wonderful food AND re-entry (a 3 day process) with juices then cooked and raw foods. I had no nausea at all, felt weakened, light headed at times but mostly great, even received chiropractic adjustments and massage, lot's of board games & movies, just took it VERY easy with others there. Drank a lot of water!
I am on day one of my water fast and this video was very educational I will be showing it to my friends who think Im crazy to fast on just water! I am going to start with a two week fast to see how my body cleanses itself if I feel I need to fast again at a later date I will thanks for having this highly educational video!
On day 5 of my water fast, didn't prepare at all from a year of fast food including pizza, maccas and lots of bread and meat - so now i feel sooooo nauseous all the time and bedridden on my fast, but i needed this! Can't wait for when i start feeling better!
@pheynixll Make sure you drink enough water. At the beginning of a fast it is natural to be thirsty. As the days go by when you are cleansing, the desire for water can go down but that does not mean that you don't still need water. I am on my seventh day and I drink 2 or more liters a day of water!! Getting nauseous can be from the cleansing but make sure it is NOT from a lack of water
A long time ago I fasted but only drank 8 glasses of water a day and I was a basket case by the seventh day.
@Rockwellbabe2 hey thanks for the advice! I had to go off the fast cause I had an exam and the nausea wasn't going away. My food addictions are all gone though, so that in itself is a huge plus :) happy to eat veggies and fruit instead of junk food now. Thats awesome you're on seven days, I hope to go to ten next time for me.
I have tried waterfasting myself, i've fasted for 3 and 6 days before.....and completed an 11 day waterfast just 2weeks ago, my blood pressure dropped and a do feel healthier, now im currently attempted a 30+ day waterfast for mind body and spiritual reasons...im on Day 3
Awesome interview! Dr. goldhamer speaks really fast packed with a lot of great information. However, there were some words that i couldn't understand and I think it's because of the echo in the room you recorded him in. Would it be possible to be aware of this for your future videos? I love your show! Thanks
Is krill oil, coconut oil, olive oil, avocado, some nuts and seeds - really that bad as long as have the enzymes and hydrachloric acid to digest them? How do you determine how much to ingest per day?
What is the ideal diet according to Dr. Alan Goldhamer D.C.? What does he think about the Metabolic Typing diet? What kind of water is used at his center? What does he think about high pH water? How long are the fasts usually?
@jockaud I work with Dr. Goldhamer and the ideal diet according to him, which is the diet we serve at TrueNorth Health is 100% vegan and gluten-free with an emphasis on organic produce with no added salt, sugar, or oil and no processed foods. We use distilled water at the center and typically patients fast between 5 and 40 days, depending on their medical situation. Ideally we want to fast patients for the shortest time possible but long enough to achieve the most health benefits.
Excellent interview, Dr. Goldhamer is very bright. The benefits of fasting are well documented. I am looking forward to my first water fast soon. So far, I've only done the Master Cleanse, which is also, an excellent fast.
My personal feeling is fasting is not healthy physically. I do believe there are spiritual reasons for fasting but that is between you and God.
If you want health benefits, try juicing fruits and vegetables or an all fruit diet for a week or something similar - the benefits of not taking in processed foods combined with nutrients not found in water is a healthier option to water fasting. Try eating watermelon only for a week or something similar - will also reduce high blood pressure.
@MsWatcheverything Muslims fast during the DAYtime ONLY on ramadan. So your statement of fasting for an entire month is completely misleading. Be honest. During Ramadad muslims dont eat breakfast(unless they get up before the sun comes up) or lunch, then they stuff themselves at dinner and eat all night. Then repeat the next day. That's not 'fasting' or healthy. It's extremely unhealthy. A lot of people skip lunch and eat all night, they are usually extremely unhealthy and obese.
@angelicearthling You are right that muslims wit alack ofknowledge sadley stuff themselves when breaking their fast at sunset. However there are rules on how much and what you should eat. not only during the ramadan. th muslims who live the way of theirprofet (peace be upon him) fast either every other day but if thats to harsh you ca fast onlyevery monday and thursday. We also have rules on how much to eat in everyday life and at each meal. Our profet used to say a few bites at
@MsWatcheverything I did get my facts straight, thus why I corrected you. You initially stated "im a muslim so i fast for an entire month of ramadan". That's completely misleading people to think that you don't eat ANYTHING for a month straight. After I pointed out that muslims actually refrain from eating in the DAYTIME only, not at night, then you admitted that you also eat during that month at night. Huge difference. Not eating during the DAY for 1 month vs not eating anything for 1 month.
@angelicearth At each meal but if you must eat more then fill oly a thirdof your stomach with food and a tird with water and a third with air. And he said a lot of wise stuff 1400 years ago that all you raw fooders are just finding out now. And btw Im in the north so our fasting days are some days 17 hours pr day in the summer. Please dont insniuate that im a liar... Dont like islam? fine. but get all the ifo before lashing out. (sorry for misspelling-im ot english)
Hi Kevin and Anne Marie, I'm on day 6 of a water fast right now, glad to hear what Dr.Goldhamer had to say, it's about time that a doctor thought seriously about guiding us through our fasts and checking our stats and blood levels! Hope you two have great fun at the wedding,,,,,,:)
very interesting & exciting talk! WE want more natural healing centers for all!!
Yes I did water fast but have to amit I feel Im not in a very good invironment to fast!
I only lasted a 1 & a half! lol but even in the short time, I felt it was doing something good for my heart & endocrine system, like a cleansing or regeneration, tugging, pumping feeling!
I did a 3 day water fast about a year ago and am about to begin a 7 day water fast soon... Last year when I did it about the third day I began noticing detox symptoms,,, Sick to stomach, dizzy, and hot flashes.
That being said I've never eaten a raw diet and am beginning now so as a way to get toxins out I'm beginning with a water fast. I've just learned about all the benefits of a 80+% raw diet so this is new for me. Thanks for the informative videos, they've been a huge help in learning
yes...i threw up a few times during the water fast- and although it was unpleasant, i know it was very cleansing. first for 2 days before, i did liquids- then just water for 3 days. it was a good experience, but only do it if you can stay home and rest when needed.
I will be...this is crazy how when I'm spiritually connected through gratitude and meditation that everything I'm interested in comes to me. I've been educating myself on water fasting. I'm going to do a water fast 1 day every two weeks because I'm very thin and when I build up some mass I'll do 1 day a week and eventually, someday I'd like to do a 40 day water fast
I've fasted for 2 days at most. It's not enjoyable. How old is Dr. Alan? I wouldn't say he's exuding vibrant health or anything. Bags under his eyes, but he is sharp mentally.
I tried it for a day between a juice fast. The day after I had juice in the morning, oh man I was going diarrhea like crazy hahaha. i plan on doing a week long water fast in the future when i have time off.. i plan on doing it near a place where I can get my own spring water and chill in nature. looking forward to it :)
I did a 4.5 day water fast a couple months ago and it improved my health more than anything I've ever tried. I'm serious.
I want to try and make it to a full week next time. I have to admit though, I can be hard to tell the difference between toxins moving or whether your health is in danger.
The two types of fasting you mention are almost completely unrelated to one other in terms of goals. Although they are both considered by some as fasting, you take in a high amount of nutrients while fasting (feasting) on green juice. With water, depending upon the mineral content, you do not feed your body. A water fast with pure distilled water is by far the most effective and quickest method of detoxification for your system.
The primal blue print is the way to go, grassfed pastured meat is how we evolved vis a vis evolutionary biology. High quality grass fed meat, vegetables and occasional fruit is how we evolved. With intermittent periods of fasting. That is the way nature designed us. We arent designed to be grazers , we are omnivores!
I did a 7 day water fasting but in a very controlled environment.....it is highly recommended that you bed rest!!!! I did it successfully with the goal of allowing my esophagus time to heal itself!! But be careful not everyone can do it immediately. I did it cold turkey, but you must ease your way out of water fast by starting with liquids and then smooth foods and then the next day build your way back to a healthy diet according to your metabolic and body type.
@jaba987 What do you mean your liver couldn't take it? Where you fasting under supervision? Did you drink enough water? Were you toxic with shakes, steak, beer and chips lol?
@Rockwellbabe2 shalom I was in Israel too. Telaviv is fun, gaza not so much. anyway after about 7 days of water fasting I started getting unbearable pain in my liver area to the point where I couldnt sleep. I drank water but cant remember how much now. I am sure I was toxic I have psoriasis and it cleared a bit after the fast
I did 3 days, lol. But I did feel better with just the 3 days. I am going to shoot for 1 full week with the next h2o fast. Should the water be distilled or is mineral (well) ok?
Im gonna give this a go for 7 days but i dont have medical supervision.. do you HAVE to have medical supervision or can you just do it anyway?

"Oh! It's the alcohol?" lol.

Thank-you Kevin. I've been looking for a clear, scientific and concise explanation of fasting for a long time!

I prefer green juice fasting over water fasting...
todayisthedaytolive 1 year ago
@todayisthedaytolive

@surfing222
its irrefutable and Undeniable that by a study of Anatomy and Physiology Humans are naturally Intended to be raw Vegans by Design and our biology.
There is no doubt about it

I did a 7 day water fasting but in a very controlled environment.....it is highly recommended that you bed rest!!!! I did it successfully with the goal of allowing my esophagus time to heal itself!! But be careful not everyone can do it immediately. I did it cold turkey, but you must ease your way out of water fast by starting with liquids and then smooth foods and then the next day build your way back to a healthy diet according to your metabolic and body type.

I did ten days of water fasting but my liver couldnt take it
jaba987 1 year ago
@jaba987 What do you mean your liver couldn't take it? Where you fasting under supervision? Did you drink enough water? Were you toxic with shakes, steak, beer and chips lol?
Rockwellbabe2 1 year ago
@Rockwellbabe2 shalom I was in Israel too. Telaviv is fun, gaza not so much. anyway after about 7 days of water fasting I started getting unbearable pain in my liver area to the point where I couldnt sleep. I drank water but cant remember how much now. I am sure I was toxic I have psoriasis and it cleared a bit after the fast
jaba987 1 year ago
I did 3 days, lol. But I did feel better with just the 3 days. I am going to shoot for 1 full week with the next h2o fast. Should the water be distilled or is mineral (well) ok?
peevedgrl 1 year ago
@peevedgrl I believe it should be alkaline ionized water. It detoxifies the crap out of you.
thegodsend 1 year ago
@peevedgrl I drank natural spring water during my 20 days of water fasting. Make sure you do research on the source of the spring though.
Good luck...the first three days are by far the hardest. The hunger lessens each day after day 3! Love and blessings!
Kaseypink123 1 year ago
@peevedgrl thank you, I will get high alkaline water from a local well
