What does most of the work for SF involve in the Air Force? I'm extremely interested in joining for the SF, but would like to get somewhat of an insight of it. Also, what are the chances that you can be trained to be a K-9 handler? I have experience with working dogs and am very interested in this. Thanks!

@cnnrmoon there is alot of bullshit mindless jobs u do as SF that a monkey could do. law enforcement, nuke security, personal security details, convoys, otw patrols, Gate guard ect ect all are jobs u can do in SF depending upon where ur stationed.each place vary greatly from the other .k-9 handler is a lateral train job that for the most part is pretty good gig.the shit part is u just have to push ur way through being a straight leg for a few years to get it

Those of you considering USAF SF, take note this is the infantry of the AirForce. Do some cool stuff but there is a whole lot of....'fml' moments when your not deployed. Like 14 hours a day staring at a plane.

I find this funny being a MARINE and fought in the real battles back in 2003-04. This deployment was waaaaaaaaaaay after the smoke cleared from the fight given to them by the MARINES and ARMY. I love the fact they had time to get this type of footage though. Where are the fire fights, wheres the contact. Yall look good though.

@victormike6 Ok Mr. Badass, I believe you when you say that you deployed and were in the shit, but do realize that SF and infantry are two different things. Also, I know SF airmen who have deployed many more times than some Marines and Soldiers that I know, who have all been in about the same amount of time. You guys deserve a lot of credit, but don't marginalize what we do either

@victormike6 There is and probably always will be an insurgency within Iraq. Patrolling may not be as dangerous as back in '04, but that was the worst since Vietnam.. Its still dangerous. Always a possibility for Americans to be ambushed over there. Don't put down other service members bro, we respect what you did back then. You don't need to puff yourself up.

@SmittyMane69 Im SF and our main mission when we deploy is base security but we do do a lot of convoy ops and patrols, depending on what unit you are assigned to and if you get tagged to an army unit you will do a lot more fun shit

@kmain0 this is the 532nd ESFS out of Balad. You must be very new to the 3POX1 career field if you have never heard of or seen a deployment like this. Almost every SF member I know, including myself, has been either to Balad to do this, or to 365s that do FPP or QRF missions.

@kmain0 You have to volunteer for this kind of deployment. Volunteer for deployment that allows you to be with an Army Unit.

@AtomicStarBurst this was not a deployment you have to volunteer for. this depolyment was a tasking giving to myself, and 100+ others from bases all over the world.we were our own unit ALL air force security forces trained by fellow afsf to do combat missions.we were not tasked with the army but occasionlly work side by side with them to complete a task at hand.
