  • I seen him in the mid 70's...(in San Francisco, Winterland, I was young. I gained new respect for freeform style of Harp playing. Had gone to see Lee Oscar and War. I was blown away by War and Oscar because of Acoustics's...Sound Crew had them WAY TOO loud to be enjoyable...For me, I had been a Mayall Bluesbreakers fan for a long time.. Mayall took the show !

  • Harp Key is F#

  • ah chick who chicka chicka chicka cheeee cha cha ha chick who chick everywhere a chick chick.....1 2 3 4

  • I think he's playing harp in the key of "Appalachian mountain man aka Deliverance Dude"

  • anyone know what note harp he is playing A E C or what? thanks

  • @challenger2196 not sure what key his harp is in, but the album jacket says the song is in the key of D-flat

  • @ClearValleyFrost The song is played in the key of Db ...so it should be a Gb harmonica...(playin cross harp) blues style mainly sucking.

  • @daviemcf - is that how blues harp should always work? by playing a harp that is five half-steps above the key that the song is in? i.e., an F harp for a song in the key of C, or a D harp for a song in the key of A?

  • @ClearValleyFrost You got it CVF !

  • I was ten when this one was released. It was one of my first records. And it still creeps up inside my skin like a poisonous snake, givin' me goose bumps. Awesome man!!!!! Chicka chicka what... What a great time that was. Were gettin' old, chicka.

  • Saw The Turning Point tour in Philly in early 70's. Foghat opened. They were VERY loud, and VERY good! Then Mayall came on and just mellowed the entire Spectrum out. Fantastic show! One of the best I've ever seen...

  • Intense beauty.

  • I saw him in Tampa in 1969.... front row center. Great show, no BS, no "testing, testing, testing". He came out, started jamming with his crew and blew everyone away. We knew who he was, we expected good but he SO surpassed expectations.

  • MADE TO LAST,

  • Great! A friend took this album to me in Lisbon in 69. I was at that time 17 y.o. album is lost now... don't remember the last long track with amazing drum play. But keep Mayall in my heart TXS

  • Just saw John at BB Kings club in NYC on 8/13. He was fantastic!

  • @lorisal29 Yes, my friend unbeknownst: but don't we still have a couple of sweet shuffles in our feet? With love from Denmark.

  • What talent!! Brings back lots of memories from the 70's. Good times and great music.

  • May God protect your son, over in that hell...

    J.C.

  • One of the greatest live musical perfomances I ever witnessed when John tore this up at Penns Landing in Philly in the mid-70's(free concert), then saw Magic Dick blow me away with Whammer Jammer a couple weeks later at JFK stadium. I was in Lickin Stick Heaven!

  • great memories of this song back about 15 yrs ago. My then 5 yr old son would tap his foot & play air harmonica and he could do the "chica" stint verbatim. It was so awesome to see such a young kid get so into it. He still loves teh blues and when he gets home from Iraq hopefully he will get back to playing.

  • the blues, the blues, the blues oooooh yeah

  • Keeping the blues alive when nobody was.

  • Awwww, yeah!!

  • .... really amazing... I love it :-)

  • The Man's a producer, saw him a couple of years ago in Springfield, MO. Still got it and over 80 y/o now. Read his bio..the world will not catch up!

  • saw him in waikiki in 1969 when he opened for blood sweat and tears........nobody really knew who he was....everyone came to see blood sweat and tears because they were the new, hot act in the country. john mayall blew everyone away with this song... no drummer. he got a standing ovation at the end. his performance and his stellar sidemen just kept growing and growing on everyone......he just blew the roof off the honolulu convention center. b,s,& t were a letdown after his incredible set.

  • This is a great album.I don't know if anybody noticed ,but there are no drums. It was just guitars, bass, sax, and flute.

  • @TheMordru and harmonica :)

  • @moogarg OOPS! I forgot to mention that.

  • @TheMordru Recorded at the Fillmore. Was a major change from the Bluesbreakers. He made the change because Mick Taylor moved on to the Rolling Stones. Album is a classic.

  • f'kn great tune! hadn't heard this in years

  • OMG
