I've know James all my life, he's a down to earth man, a good man. I am friends and work with one of his sons. I heard a lot of these stories before. I really like hearing the history of the moonshining business in Hickman County aka "Keg County". Great job James thanks for putting this together.

I actually grew up in the same house as James, and his family has always been close with mine. My dad told me a story that he heard from my grandfather about James, a business partner, and a well trusted employee driving driving to...I think it was Paris, TN to buy a single engine plane. When they got there, they realized that none of them had ever flown a plane. So they let the employee drive back, and he and his partner flew the plane back...not having a clue what they were doing!!

But they made it!! They just landed in one of the fields on their farm. Mr. Hassell flew that plane all over the south delivering moonshine...and he never got his license, or even had any lessons!!

Good film - enjoyed the history. There are several of us from Hickman who have moonshiners in their family. Some of us take pride in the history, others not so much. But it is part of "Keg County." Mr. Hassell is right - lot of young and not so young men ran those roads ragged getting away from the law. Thanks for putting this together.
