It's a pretty common type of error. I'm not sure why it happens, but it happens when the person writing/placing the letters is too close to the surface he/she is writing on. It happens when writing on chalkboards, too.

LOL yes, there's a high school by my house and they definitely spelled school "sohool" on the road and no ones ever fixed it, and it was spelled like this when i lived by there and that was eleven years ago...thank god i moved and went to a school where they actually knew how to spell. but i mean this school is known for like retards, sluts, STD people, pregnancies so i mean spelling is kind of the least of their worries i suppose.
